Chapter 148: Are We Going To Be Alright?

The weather was beautiful.
Earlier, due to the intensity of the hot and passionate love making, the sun was feeling so shy, it decided to hide behind the daring clouds.
But now, the sun finally decided to come out to show off it's might on this gorgeous autumn day.
The wind was blowing softly and blanketed Shao Yan and Li Xiqing; accompanying the couple who was walking hand in hand. Sea of red and yellow leaves arched proudly above them, making the whole scenery as if they just stepped out of a painting.
Li Xiqing asked one of the ryokan ladies to prepare some light snacks. She handed over a small bag to him as she bowed her body a little when sending them out. With help of some locals, Li Xiqing and Shao Yan decided to take a bus to the forest area.
When they alighted, they saw a few senior people were walking towards a direction ahead of them. The elderlies were dressed as if they were about to climb some serious mountain; they were wearing windbreaker, waterproof boots, thick woof socks and also thick shawls around their neck.
Shao Yan looked down at her own outfit, and then she turned her head to Li Xiqing.
"Are we going to be alright? I feel that we are not as prepared as them," she pointed her chin towards the group of those people who were holding walking sticks in their hands.
Li Xiqing also turned his head to look at them, and then he curved his lips. He patted her on the back of her head, "I have asked the ryokan concierge, it's going to be fine, it's only a short trail," he slid his hand down to her wrist and wrapped her hands inside his big palm.
Shao Yan linked their fingers, and she heard Li Xiqing continued to say, "Let's go, we need to go back before the sky gets too dark."
She smiled at him, and nodded her head. Together, they started to follow behind the senior people with walking sticks.

The couple tried to keep a good distance from that group of senior people, but they still noticed Li Xiqing and Shao Yan anyway.
After walking for a while, Shao Yan thought that they have been walking for a few miles, when in actuality; they only just spent five minutes to walk.
The weather was clear and the air was fresh, so everyone was walking happily.
Tall tress surrounded them; Shao Yan could smell the wet grass or the damp bark. The path that she was walking on had been cleared from dried leaves; making it easier for people to walk around.
When they reached an open space with some rocks and dead tree logs that were scattered around, one of the elderly decided to take a break. All the other elderlies then started to follow her. They spread themselves and sat on the rocks and logs and started to open their backpacks.
They took out some tumblers, tea cup, and even some snacks; and started to have a mini picnic of their own.
Shao Yan looked at the view in front of her and could not help to smile. She nudged their linked fingers, making Li Xiqing to turn his head around in curiosity over her tug.
"Xiqing, these people can find joy in every single thing in their life. I think they have lived a very contented life. Don't you think so?" She talked in low voice.
Some other people had also visited the forrest park today and had walked behind them for a while.
When Shao Yan and Li Xiqing stopped on their tracks to admire the elderlies, the newcomers were also attracted by the view.
Li Xiqing smiled at the warmth projected by the people around him, he turned his head to look at Shao Yan, "Do you want to have a rest here as well? We can join them."
Shao Yan tilted her head to contemplate for a while. She looked up at the sky and then glanced at her wrist, and then she turned to look at Li Xiqing again, "No, maybe later. Let's have our own picnic near the waterfall."
Li Xiqing nodded his agreement, and then they continued their journey.

Around ten minutes or so later, Shao Yan started to hear a thunder sound.
She looked up and saw that the sky was still bright and clear with no sign of rain. So, she swiftly turned her head around, and exclaimed, "Xiqing! We are close; I can hear the waterfalls now."
Once she finished with her words, she started to tug him along her, and hastened her pace.
Li Xiqing chuckled softly but still went along with her, not trying to stop her urgency at all.
As they got closer, Shao Yan could feel the gush of wind is getting stronger around her. And the sound was getting louder as well.
She could hear the burble sound; along with the rippling sound.
And then she saw it.
In front of her was a cliff that was so tall; Shao Yan had to squint her eyes, when she tried to see the peak.
A huge waterfall stood proudly in front of all, flowing with its might; pouring to the ground mercilessly. The thundering sound blanketed them as they got closer.
Li Xiqing looked around them, small creeks had formed surrounding the area with small rocks piled up, creating a serene view of a riverbank.
Some people were already here, with their own tarps spread on the ground; they were enjoying the majestic view and refreshing cool air.
He swept his eyes around the area, and found a huge rock with some people sitting on top of it.
Li Xiqing turned to Shao Yan and pointed the rock to her. She looked at the direction he pointed at, and then she beamed at him, before nodding her head yes.
And just like that, the couple decided to climb the huge rock to sit on top of it, just like the other people, to have their own picnic.
