Chapter 253: Rose

It was the weekend and Shao Yan decided that it was a good day to clean the house.
Li Xiqing had been spending more time with Martin the past few days. Sometimes, they would be in the office or other times, they would be working out of their home offices. It seemed that the issue with Ido Kanagawa had a really serious impact on their business plans.
After eight hours of surgery, the man was finally out of the operation room.
That day, his own right hand man, as well as his most trusted bodyguard, called each and every guest to thank them for their visit. At the same time, he also took the opportunity to update them on his master's condition.
When Li Xiqing asked if they could pay another visit, Hiroto firmly but politely rejected his request.
"Our Master is staying in the VIP room right now," he started to say, "but the doctor especially told us not to allow any visit for now. At least until his condition is stable."
So the past few days after that, AG International had been sending tonic, herbal soup and other nutritional stuff to his hospital room.
Shao Yan guessed that other associates would do the same thing. She could not imagine how crowded his room was going to be.

Li Xiqing was also in the office today even though it was Saturday.
So, Shao Yan decided to be productive and did a spring cleaning of their houses.
"Alright!" She clapped her hands excitedly, "We'll start here!"
She carried a big plastic box in her hands and decided to go with sorting through their closets.
Shao Yan started with his stuff since she assumed he would not have as many things as she did, and thus would be faster.
But she was so wrong.
After three whole hours of struggling with his clothes, she was finally done with his closet alone.
Shao Yan had separated his belongings into three different piles of shirts, pants and others. With two hands propped on her waist, Shao Yan was kneeling down in the carpeted wardrobe room.
She looked around at the piles proudly and smirked, "En," she nodded, "Good job, Yan Yan, now, let Li Xiqing decide on these piles."
She paused as she thought for a while, "Maybe not throw them away and just donate these things."
Feeling so proud of herself for having accomplished one thing, Shao Yan got up from the floor and walked out of the closet.

Shao Yan was humming a song as she walked over to the kitchen. She wanted to reward herself for the hard work this morning. Her steps were light as she swayed her head to the left and right, along with her melody.
"Steak and wine will be perfect for dinner tonight," Shao Yan nodded as she thought aloud to herself.
The day after the hospital visit, Li Xiqing told her over breakfast that Mandy was the one who had been calling her mobile phone and disturbed their "sweet" moment.
Apparently Axel had been trying to reach him the whole night, but was unable to.
He wanted Li Xiqing to go to the hospital right away to visit Ido Kanagawa, but the phone was not connected. So Mandy was trying to help by calling Shao Yan.
Shao Yan was ready to forget about the incident.
But Mandy came over to their apartment the day after.

"Here!" Mandy pushed a bottle of Rose wine into Shao Yan's hands before she stepped inside.
Shao Yan looked down at the pink liquid bottle, "Th- this...?" She was feeling confused.
Mandy had just walked in and took off her shoes before she entered the living room and made herself comfortable on their sofa.
"Sis?" Shao Yan closed the door and followed her inside, "Did you come here to drink with me?" Shao Yan was about to walk to the kitchen to open the bottle.
It was only 4 PM that day.
Shao Yan had left early from the office because she did not have enough sleep the night before and she was feeling lethargic. So she was planning to go home and took a short nap.
But if this sister in law of hers wanted to drink, oh well, Shao Yan guessed she did not have any other choice but to accompany her anyway.
Mandy chuckled, "No, no, Yan Yan," she stopped her, "come back here."
Shao Yan glanced back at her in confusion, but still walking closer to the sofa.
Mandy raised one finger to point at the bottle, "That," she grinned, "is my apology."
She tried so hard to hold her laugh.
"Because I have disturbed your uh...," Mandy paused and peeked at Shao Yan meaningfully, but Mandy could not hold off herself any longer, so she winked cheekily at her, "your sexy time."

Even when she thought back to that day, Shao Yan could still feel her face heated up with embarrassment right now.
Mandy had teased her to no end the whole night.
The two women spent a few hours just chatting in her living room. Only until Li Xiqing came back home, then Mandy hurriedly escaped herself.
But before she closed their apartment door, Mandy took a chance to look back at Shao Yan and winked again.
Shao Yan sighed as she remembered; her hands reached out to open her freezer.
Her life was going to be interesting with this sister in law in the future.
Shao Yan took out two beef steaks and put them aside to thaw them.
Usually, it would be Li Xiqing who grilled the steak for them. But he had been working very hard the past few days. So Shao Yan decided to cook for him tonight.
She started to get busy around the kitchen preparing all the herbs that she needed.
She glanced at the clock and started to calculate her cooking time.

"Young Miss, you still need to eat."
Helen, who was sitting on a chair by the hospital bed, ignored Hiroto who was standing tall next to her.
"You have not eaten anything for two days," he continued.
Ever since her father had come out of the operating room, he had been unconscious these whole time.
Helen tried so hard to be strong, but with all these disinfectant smells around her, she started to lose her appetite. And that also caused her mood to be chaotic.
She heaved a sigh, "Just put it there, I'll eat it later." Her two hands were holding tightly onto her father's hand.
IV tubes and breathing mask were the only accessories on his father's body. The strong, proud man who had been teaching, guiding and scolding Helen her whole life, was now lying so weakly in front of her.
She looked down at his hand that was wrapped in between her hands.
His wrinkled skin looked so fragile under her touches.
And Helen started to reminisce all of her happy times during her childhood with this man.
How he had been standing by the rose garden entrance as she ran around the rose field with her mother.
How he had scowled on her but did not say any word when she was crying because her hands were scratched by the thorns from the roses. His face was showing more pain than her own skin. And that time, Helen did not understand why.
How he had looked at her ever so gently when she graduated from the university and waved at him from the podium as she received her certificate.
And how much she regretted right now, that she never actually properly told him that she loved him very much.
