Chapter 209 - "Promise with My Beloved and Tsundere"

“Promise with My Beloved and Tsundere”

“Rolando-san, was it okay to leave it like that?”

“Hm? Oh, you mean that spy?”

“Yes.”

As we walked from Sanya’s room towards the temple, Sara seemed worried about leaving the spy, Cham, behind. Even though we had put her to sleep and restrained her, the fact that we left someone who might cause harm in her sister’s room was causing her concern.

“No problem. If you’re worried, we can immediately use Dispel Stone to remove my Magic Power Fixed, and I can return to your sister’s room in an instant.”

“R-Right! Let’s do that!”

With determination, Sara replied, her face slightly flushed. But unfortunately, we weren’t heading in the direction of the temple. When I pointed this out, she turned even redder and stammered, “I-I know! I was just checking if Rolando-san remembers the way!”

I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at her obvious lie. Did she think such an obvious fib would pass?

Anyway, as we continued down the main street, the same oversized, worn building I’d seen before came into view. The bored-looking guards, as usual, stifled yawns. When they noticed us, one of them perked up and addressed us.

“Oh, it’s you, the guy from last time. And is that Princess Sara with you? What brings you here?”

The guard recognized me and then noticed Sara standing beside me. He straightened up and inquired. Sara, with a somewhat different demeanor, answered.

“We have business with something further ahead. We apologize for the inconvenience, but could you let us pass?”

“O-Of course, certainly. Please, go right ahead.”

Sara’s presence seemed to make the guard somewhat flustered, but he agreed to let us enter the temple. Sara smiled and said, “Thank you. Do your best with your guard duty!” The guard seemed to gain newfound enthusiasm and responded energetically, “Yes! Leave it to me!!”

Watching this exchange, I couldn’t help but comment sarcastically to Sara about her performance.

“Wow, what a scam.”

“W-What are you talking about? Even though I look like this, I’m still a princess, you know?”

“Well, if you believe it, then it must be true. You can think whatever you want.”

Ignoring her indignant noises, I continued walking. We traversed the unnecessarily large corridor for a while until we finally reached the innermost room where the Dispel Stone was. From there, it took a few more minutes to get to the Dispel Stone itself.

“Finally, the moment has come. Alright, Sara, do it.”

“Understood. ‘By the principles of my royal bloodline, dispel that barrier. I am one who bears the name of the royal family.'”

As Sara chanted these words, the veil-like barrier dissipated as if it were mist. There was no longer anything separating me from the Dispel Stone. I touched the Dispel Stone and muttered.

“With this, our promise has been fulfilled. I’ve wanted this for so long. I won’t let you go now. We’ll be together from now on.”

“Rolando-san, what are you talking about?”

“…”

That’s right. I had been so overwhelmed with the ability to touch the Dispel Stone that I had slipped back into romance mode. But here was Sara. Ignoring her suspicious gaze, I touched the Dispel Stone.

As I touched the Dispel Stone, its brilliance intensified, shining so brightly that it would have been blinding if I hadn’t kept my eyes closed. After a while, the light gradually dimmed and returned to its original state.

Slowly opening my eyes, I saw the Dispel Stone faintly glowing as it had before, and everything was quiet as if nothing had happened.

“How about it? Has the Magic Power Fixed been removed?”

“I’ll check.”

In response to Sara’s question, I used my “Super Analysis” on myself. Magic Power Fixed, which had been listed under my status, was now gone, replaced with “none,” indicating that it had been removed.

It seemed that the Magic Power Fixed had been successfully removed, but to confirm if teleportation was truly accessible, I decided to try it out.

“Give me your hand.”

“Huh?”

“Just for a test, let’s teleport to the entrance of the temple. So, give me your hand.”

“Y-Yes…”

As Sara handed me her hand hesitantly, I used teleportation as I had done many times before, visualizing the scenery near the temple’s entrance in my mind.

With the familiar sensation of floating, the scenery changed, and we appeared near the entrance of the temple. The teleportation was successful.

“It seems like I can use teleportation now.”

“We did it! Now we can go to Rolando-san’s house.”

“For now, let’s get out of here. Oh, by the way, what will happen to the Dispel Stone’s barrier?”

“That’s not a problem. It’ll be back up in a while.”

With Sara rejoicing in our success, we left the temple. The guard who had recognized us saluted and bid us farewell as we departed. After walking for a while, I suddenly asked Sara a question.

“Sara, can I ask you something?”

“What is it?”

“Why did you decide to let me use the Dispel Stone? If I wanted to, I could let you go and escape to the human world with teleportation right that instant. You should understand that much.”

“…”

Originally, the reason I had come to this Demon Lord’s city was because there was a Dispel Stone here that could remove the state known as Magic Power Fixed, caused by an ancient magic circle. If that condition were to be lifted, I could use teleportation magic again and be a free man.

In that case, my cooperation with Sara and the others would no longer be necessary, and there was even the possibility that I would break our agreement midway. Normally, no one would willingly get involved in such a troublesome situation.

Yet, Sara had chosen to remove my Magic Power Fixed while the problem was still unresolved. Sara wasn’t a fool. She must have realized that once I could use teleportation again, I could use it to escape.

“If it came to that, I would have just accepted it. Besides, I believed in you.”

“You believed in me?”

“Even if you could use teleportation again, Rolando-san, I didn’t think you would just abandon us. I believed you would help us!”

“…”

She replied with that innocent expression that trusted people without suspicion. Damn it, I’m starting to look like the bad guy here. I can’t understand… It’s infuriating. It’s really infuriating.

“Ouch! What are you doing?”

“Don’t get the wrong idea. I didn’t stick around for your sake! I’m only helping you because I don’t like this situation. Make sure you understand that.”

“…Rolando-san, you’re like one of those ‘stubborn young ladies’ from books, aren’t you?”

“Ugh…”

I messed up. Sara was making such a nice face that without realizing it, I unintentionally pulled a tsundere move… Not that I had any deredere in my case.

Feeling embarrassed about having the part I didn’t want to be pointed out being pointed out, I forcibly took Sara’s hand and used teleportation to return to Sanya’s room.

Sanya and her maid Tillis were initially taken aback when we suddenly appeared, but once they recognized us, they regained their usual calm demeanor.

“I was surprised when you suddenly appeared, but Rolando-sama, have you finished what you needed to do to become ‘bin-bin‘?”

“Sara’s sister, please stop using that word; it could lead to misunderstandings in various ways. And yes, my business is finished.”

With Sanya having added another word to her vocabulary that she shouldn’t have, I decided to leave Sara and the others here for a while and return to the human world first.

“For now, I’ll let them know I’m safe and explain the situation to the people on the other side, so you two wait here.”

“Understood. Rolando-san, please take care.”

“Goodbye.”

With Sara and the others seeing me off, I used teleportation to return to the mansion in the royal capital.
