Chapter 48: Empathic Healing

"As you wish,your highness....." The head maid said she signaled the other maid's and servants to leave ".....then please follow me.." She said as she turned around and started to walk towards the staircase.
I followed her upstairs and looked through the hallways which were all empty, and looked dead and lifeless..... as if someone has putted curse on them.
We walked for some time until we finally reached Lady Winter's room."Your Highness, before you go inside. I have a request to make." Head maid said as she bowed.
That was quite out of blue but still "...Please say it." I said as I looked at her. I hope she won't ask for something tough.
"Then once you go inside....please keep calm...no matter what lies ahead you please keep calm." She said as she looked at me with her concerned motherly eyes.
"Okay I will...." I said to her even thou it made no sense to me as to why she said that.....
Until I opened the door and went inside, only to see Ashton who looked lost in his own world, Lord Winter who kept his head downward,was sitting in the sofa far from the bed.Two physicians with a distressed look on their faces.
I went near them and the thing that I was scared of and I was praying won't happen....happened.
"Lady winter...." I murmured as I looked at her lying on the bed, her hair was all messed up, her eyes looked swollen too and her left hand which turned blue and had blood flowing through it was being bandaged, but that wasn't the only place where she was hurted, even her left side of the head had a small cut which was being cleaned and bandaged by another physician.
"What happened to her....." I asked as I went near her bed and touched her hair strands. "Your Highness!! Why did you come here!!" Lord winter said as he stood up from the seat and cake towards me.
"I arrived a while ago but....what happened to her..." I asked him as I brushed her hairs with the help of my fingers.
"We...We have no idea about what happened to her...." Lord winter said as his expression darkened.
"What that supposed to be a joke!..." I said as I glared at him. "....How can you not know about your own daughter!!!" I said angrily.
But still he didn't reply instead he just told there frozen...And it annoyed the hell out of me!
"Don't stand there like a statue and speak!!" This time I almost shouted at him.
"Your Highness is right....I don't know anything about my daughter... I know nothing about her!!! just like the way I know nothing about...how she got into this condition!!!! How she got such wounds in her hands....I have no idea about how she ended up being unconscious on that cold ground...I know nothing....I just know nothing..." Lord winter snapped back as he clenched his fists as if he was trying to hold himself back.
He then looked at me with his dark brown eyes that looked like that of someone who lost everything he had to call 'Mine' in this world.
"I know already what type of a father I am and I hate myself for it!!!" He said as his whole body shaked....
The room became silent from his sudden outburst of feelings.The air was already heavy but now it was even suffocating.
"Both of you leave." Ashton said in a low voice, his gaze was still fixed at Lady Winter as he holded her right hand tightly, as if the moment he leaves her hand she might just dissappear.
"If his highness and father wants to keep fighting and blaming and as well as do worthless confessions here....you two can better leave, then Sister would be atleast able to sleep properly." Ash said calmly even thou I could feel the suppressed rage in his words.
But he was right, Lady winter is in such a condition and what am I doing.....fighting with the lord...I didn't even think of his feelings...After what happened to Lady Freya...this must have been shocking and heartbreaking to him too....
And instead of counseling him and understanding him...I just made him feel more horrible..
"I apologize for the disturbance, it was my mistake to raise my voice...Please forgive me." I said as I bowed towards Lord Winter.
"....Its not only His Highness who lost its calm...even thou I am older then you, I still wasn't able to control myself and furthermore...the prince said nothing wrong...." He said as he looked towards Lady Winter.
"I truly am....clueless about her feelings, her thoughts, her mindset and her dreams.....even thou she is my own daughter...I only know about her as much as an outsider would." Lord winter said as he went back to the sofa and sat there.
"My lord please don't take my words to your heart..." I said as I felt guilty but he smiled towards and he continued what he was saying.
"She would keeping telling us, How much she loves this family...How much she loves us...How much she cares for us...but she never asked about what we felt towards her. She always acted like this family is her responsibility.....So I always thought that she is mature which is why I was least concerned about her." He said as he bit his lower lips.
"Even when I was blamed she asked for my explanation cuz she wanted to believe me.....Even when Freya got into an accident she still didn't lose hope and took all the household responsibilities in her own account. I even felt proud of her because she managed to do everything so flawlessly....But now back then I was a fool..." He said as he rested his head on his left palm. And that line caught both mine and Ash attention.
"....How come I never thought that no matter what she says or does....She is still a 8 year old kid, who needs care and protection...she needs to be childish and happy not mature and responsible....And I needed to understand her better but I didn't which lead her to that bed."He said as his voice got heavier as if he was somehow stopping his tears.
His words were like a reality check to me and I understood that no matter how we act or What our status is we are still kids...we are not some novels heros or heroines who would be perfect in every thing we do or we will always win. We are all humans...with our own flaws.
And we all need to learn from our mistakes...
"Lord I agree with your words but what to Lady winter is still unknown to us, so please don't balme yourself.And as for being a good father, I believe in lady Winter's eyes you are the best father that she could ever ask for. So, please don't be dishearted right now our priority is to make sure she wakes up soon and recovers well." I said as I looked at him with as I went near Lady winter and lightly touched the bandaged part of her forhead and hand.
"I may not be of much help here but I made sure that she won't feel any pain because of the wounds even thou they still need to be taken care off." I said as a blue light surrounded her.
"But your highness!" Lord winter intruppted me but yeah it was too late since the magic was already done.
"If you do that....it would be painful for you.." Lord winter said as he looked at me with concern eyes. Well that would happen since I am not a healer type mage like Alfered (The second prince) So, I can only use emphatic healing which would heal the wounded but in turn, I would get that person's pain....but I don't mind it especially when it her.
"This much pain is nothing compared to what she must be going through now....so please be at ease. Plus it is already done so we can't turn it back."I said as I smiled at him.
"I am really thankful to His Highness, honestly I always thought that his highness is cold and indifferent but today you changed my mind. And I believe that Solar's future is going to be very bright." He said as he looked at me with respect and faith in his eyes.
Those words....No one told me that before...."I am thankful to Lord Winter too." I said as I looked at the ground.
"Well....I don't know what his highness did but thanks to that all of her wounds healed...So thank you." Ashton said as he looked at me.
"No worries....then maybe I should leave now, since Lady winter needs to get more rest." I said as I bowed towards them.
"Yes, Your Highness and thanks for visiting us." Lord winter said as he looked at me with gratitude.
"Then Please take care." I said as I looked Irene for the last time and went outside the room and my legs only stopped only when I reached towards the royal carriage. I went inside it and as always Ethan was there with a concerned look on his face.
"Well you came back early." Ethan said as he checked me from head to toe.
"Uh huh....I did right..." I said awkwardly.
"Hmm, it's weird..." He said as he graded my left hand, "Ahhhhh!!" I screamed because of the pain.
"Hah as I thought you used empathic healing right!" Ethan asked as he touched my forehead next, with made me scream once more.
"Haha yeah I did....so please stop testing it." I said as I tired to swallow down the pain silently.
"Your Highness....is hurting yourself for her really wroth it?" Ethan asked as he saw me on the verge of tears.
"Yes it is.....cuz she is my friend and I want her to be safe and painless." I said as I looked out of the window. ".....and If not for this pain and there worried faces I would ahev just stayed there unless she opened her eyes." I said as the image of Lady winter lying came in my mind.
" I can't win against you so atleast ask the second prince to help you reduce the pain." He said as he sighed.
"Okay~ I will" I said as I smiled towars him and then one thing came in my mind.
"You saw her right and just because you didn't want me to use my healing powers so you told me to return back. Didn't you?" I asked Ethan who sat there and acted as if he didn't hear my words. And that was enough for me to know what he thought and why he did that.
"I appreciate the fact that you care for me but that doesn't give you the right to do what you did today." I said as I looked at him.
"I...I know that, I apologize for today...and I swear I won't act on my own like this ever again." He said as he bowed towards me.
"Fine I accept your apology but if you do this ever again it won't just end with an apology~" I said a sI shrugged.
"Yes I understand! And I will make sure that a day like that never comes." Ethan said as he looked at me with a serious expression.
"We will see that." I said as I looked at him with a smrik in my face.
After reaching the palace,
Alfered helped me as he reduced the amount of pain I was having cuz of the empathic healing and
I told him about Lady winter which made him quite worried.
And then I left him and Ethan to talk as I went to bed early praying that tomorrow morning I would hear some goodnews about Lady winter.
