After an hour passed on the bus ride, Qiu YiBai suddenly woke up.

Shen NingXin still hadn’t fallen asleep yet, and when she saw her move, her sleepiness further disappeared by two-thirds.

So she stopped trying to sleep and instead, began to observe what this person was going to do from her peripherals.

She saw Qiu YiBai first yawn in a low voice, then relax her head for a moment as she woke her mind up before flipping through her briefcase and taking out a few files to look at.

Her attitude was very serious, like how she normally appeared as at the office.

Shen NingXin was quite impressed when she saw this, thinking that even when this person came out to play, she still brought work with her.

But before she could feel impressed for any longer, she suddenly heard a grumbling sound from beside her.

It lasted for quite a while, grumbling for a whole three seconds before stopping.

Shen NingXin was taken aback when she heard the sound and subconsciously turned her head, and she then caught Qiu YiBai reaching out to cover her stomach in embarrassment.

“. . . . . .” What was this, did you get hungry from sleeping?

Seeing the awkwardness hidden in her eyes, Shen NingXin suddenly wanted to laugh.

For this trip, Assistant Han bought plenty of snacks early on, and they were currently placed at the front of the bus. Whoever wanted to eat could just directly grab some.

There were potato chips, bread, and candy. The children loved it, going back and forth multiple times.

In contrast, few adults went up.

But Shen NingXin didn’t care too much about that. Afraid that this crybaby would starve, she moved the bag on her leg aside and stood up to help her get some food.

But before she could move, she suddenly saw Qiu YiBai leaning in her direction.

“What’s wrong, President Qiu?” Shen NingXin quickly asked when she saw this.

“Shen NingXin,” Qiu YiBai cleared her throat and asked in a serious manner, “Have you had breakfast?”

It sounded like she was caring about her subordinate.

But Shen NingXin immediately read her inner thoughts.

This was her way of telling her to get some snacks.

And for some reason, Shen NingXin suddenly wanted to tease her.

“I did,” she responded with a nod, “What’s wrong?”

“Oh.” Qiu YiBai’s expression changed all of a sudden when she heard the words, and she then sat upright a little unhappily. “Nothing, I was just wondering.”

After speaking, she probably felt too hungry, so she unscrewed the water bottle she was carrying and took a few sips.

Do you have to be so prideful!

Shen NingXin couldn’t do anything about her and simply sighed internally, then got ready to stand up again.

But just like previously, before she could move, Qiu YiBai scooted over again.

She opened her mouth casually once again, asking, “There are so many snacks at the front, don’t you want to get some? Aren’t you a little hungry after sitting on the bus for so long?”

She even added, “Don’t worry, I won’t make fun of you.”

Shen NingXin: “. . . . . .”

I thank you then.

“I am a little hungry actually,” she sighed and stopped teasing this crybaby, “I was just about to get some snacks.”

As soon as her voice fell, Qiu YiBai’s eyes seemed to light up.

“Then get some for me along the way,” she then opened her mouth to say, casually waving the files in her hands and lowering her head to continue looking through, “I want two bread and a sausage.”

“I want the blueberry-flavored bread and Shanghui1 sausage.”

Quite a few requirements.

Shen NingXin nodded and quickly agreed, then stood up to get some snacks. When she got to the front, she inadvertently glanced back.

This person didn’t even bother looking at the files anymore.

At this moment, she was looking out the window with her hand supporting her face, appearing quite carefree. She even had a smile on for once.

Her eyes were also gently curved into a nice and soft-looking arc.

Ah.

Probably because she thought she successfully tricked her, so she feeling proud about it right now.

Look at this person . . .

Although everyone came out early, because the drive there took too long, they could only go to one scenic spot before eating.

After the meal, the crowd went to the horse ranch.

It was the main venue for this afternoon.

The ranch was very large and there were many facilities. Except for the places that were circled out for walking and dedicated for horse riding and equestrian performances, the rest of the area was basically grass.

In the distance, there were several small blue and white yurts2 on the grass. At a glance, they looked quite artistic, but most of them were related to clothing rental.

In addition to these, there were also some entertainment facilities, such as horse-drawn carts and etc, enough to make children excited.

As soon as the bus stopped, the children all rushed out like birds, pulling their parents with them to play this and that.

Shen NingXin didn’t want to play anything in particular, so she followed the crowd, walking and stopping to look at the scenery. Afterward, she went with them to a small horse farm to the east, then sat down and watched the adults and children ride horses.

At the same, she watched Qiu YiBai, who was currently surrounded by the crowd.

“Don’t you want to try horse riding, President Qiu?” someone asked her with a laugh, “I just rode one with my daughter, it’s fun.”

“I’m good.” Qiu YiBai shook her head solemnly when she heard the words. “I’m not really interested. You guys can play.”

“Just try it, you’re already here!” the group of people continued, “Try it for the experience!”

The atmosphere was very enthusiastic, and someone even took the initiative to step forward and hand Qiu YiBai the riding money.

Seeing this, Qiu YiBai had no choice but to nod in agreement.

As though having OCD, this person liked pretty things. This was the case when she went to the amusement park with Shen NingXin before. When she chose her horse, not only was it the brightest, it also had horns.

It was the same this time. Probably due to being too eager and forgetting the original purpose, she immediately chose the strongest and best-looking horse and sat on it. Before she could reflect on its beauty, a staff riding a horse came by and led it away.

The first half of the lap was alright; the horse walked very slowly.

In the second half, the staff sped up, rushing the horse back.

Shen NingXin stood up to look, and she saw the crybaby sitting on the horse with a blank face, moving up and down, her body stiff, as though she were a log of wood.

When she came down, her legs also seemed to tremble.

She had a similar look to when she rode the Blue Moon Rollercoaster before.

Shen NingXin was a little worried and hurried to greet her, even giving up her seat for her.

Qiu YiBai finally then recovered.

She drank some water and had a little food, then took out her phone.

Moving her fingers, she typed up her pent up emotions resentfully—

“I obviously didn’t want to ride it QAQ, but they just had to force me to it!

That horse was running way too fast, going Kua, Kua, Kua!

My lungs were about to bounce out!!!”

How miserable.

So miserable that Shen NingXin couldn’t hold it in, turning her head and secretly laughing at her for a long time.

The equestrian show afterward was incredibly exciting.

The series of difficult movements not only stunned the children but also the adults, too, and they all took photos and applauded, using up a lot of energy.

After that, everyone went to a nearby yurt for dinner.

There were still activities after the meal.

They came at just the right time, where the grassland was holding their Iron Flower Fireworks Show that took place three times a week. At this moment, there was more than an hour before the show began.

So to pass time, everyone agreed to gather around the square when it came time. They then scattered around.

It was nighttime, so the temperature became a bit cold.

Shen NingXin strolled around for a while, and feeling really uncomfortable, she lowered her head to pull out a jacket from her backpack to wear. Holding her water bottle, she then decided to go to the restaurant to fill it up with some hot water.

When she glanced up, she happened to see Qiu YiBai standing nearby. She was looking around and appeared to be thinking about something.

By now, the small lights set up in the grassland had all been turned on. Although the lighting wasn’t strong, it was enough to see a person’s expression clearly.

Surprisingly, there was no one else around in the area.

Shen NingXin discovered that at this moment, Qiu YiBai seemed unhappy.

Or it could also be said that she seemed a little lonely right now.

It was fine during the day. Everyone hadn’t fully let go of themselves yet when they first arrived, so people more or less thought to take care of how she felt.

But now that the day had passed and everyone’s moods had elevated, they naturally spread out to play with their companions. It was normal to not think about Qiu YiBai.

She was probably the only one also alone aside from Qiu YiBai.

Let’s make a duo then.

Thinking like this, Shen NingXin walked forward and waved to Qiu YiBai.

She even gave Qiu YiBai enough face, saying that she was scared since it was so late, and that’s why she wanted her company.

As expected, Qiu YiBai fell for it and immediately nodded.

But on the surface, she still had to laugh at her, saying that Shen NingXin, you’re already so old but you’re still afraid of the dark ah.

“Yes,” Shen NingXin didn’t refute and even complied, “I’m terrified of the dark . . .”

She seemed to be embarrassed, but there was a smile in her eyes that wasn’t easily noticed.

Qiu YiBai responded an “En” and turned her head to look at her, then lightly coughed after a moment, suddenly raising her hand and pointing at a brighter area in the front left.

Her tone was also stronger than before, telling her, “I haven’t strolled around there yet. Why don’t we go there and take a look.”

Truthfully, she was trying to accommodate her.

Shen NingXin understood right away.

When she realized this, Shen NingXin soon nodded.

The smile in her eyes also deepened, and she softly said, “Okay.”

“Shuanghui” (“双汇”) is a food company/sausage brand. “yurts” are portable, round tents covered with skins or felt and used as a dwelling by several distinct nomadic groups.
