Qin Fei is just about to inform Fang Luofan about Jing Yu ne. Unexpectedly caught off guard by those words, he lets out a snicker.

“What’s with you?” Fang Luofan casts him a suspicious glance.

Despite having explained once to Luo Yiming, Qin Fei can only repeat himself again: “It’s nothing. Our new jungler’s the one who brought it here. This should be a meeting gift.”

“A new jungler?!” Fang Luofan exclaims in shock. His first reaction is, “You’re quitting?!”

Qin Fei rolls his eyes: “Who the hell is quitting? I never liked jungling to begin with.”

This is a fact.

With his personality, Qin Fei is more suitable to face the enemy head-on in battle — This is how a solo-laner plays.

As for junglers? The things they do are generally sneak attacks and manhunts.

Qin Fei’s jungling is thus only aggressive because he is unable to shake off his past experience as a solo-laner, as well as his innate nature. The further the game drags on into the latter stage, the more he plays like a solo-laner.

Moreover, the demons he uses are mainly tanks or warriors. Neither brings much to the table when it comes to sneak attacks and manhunts.

— Jing Yu is the exact opposite.

Be it Frozen Heart or Moonshadow Spider, the demons which Jing Yu specializes in are all assassins. The common traits they share are high speed, high damage, as well as low health; Very suitable for sneak attacks and manhunts.

Thus, it’s also no surprise. The people who use these demons generally must have good situational awareness, be able to timingly seize any and all opportunities, as well as be flexible at using these demons to pursue and escape.

Fang Luofan is not stupid. He’s able to catch onto Qin Fei’s point quickly: “You’re going to play the solo-laner?”

Qin Fei nods.

Fang Luofan’s next line is: “It’s been a long time. Can you still do it?”

Qin Fei wants to roll his eyes again: “You damn–…… When you put me in as the jungler, why didn’t you ask whether I can do it?”

Fang Luofan chuckles: “So, where’s the new jungler?”

To be able to convince Qin Fei to entrust the position of jungler to him, this isn’t an easy task at all.

This is perhaps the best news which Fang Luofan has heard these past three months yet. Even if he still hasn’t seen the new jungler at work, he begins bearing some expectations for the 4th PGL starting next week.

“Inside ne.” Qin Fei lifts a hand, pointing a thumb at the training room behind him. Yet, he doesn’t rush to take the lead, instead giving an evaluation, “The new jungler’s situational awareness is not bad. He’s able to keep up with us. Very rarely does he make mistake. It’s easy to see he’s a competitive person. No matter what happens, he still thinks of winning.”

Fang Luofan conjures the image of a hotblooded youth in his mind.

“This rascal chooses his demons based off face value. The demons he typically uses are all the pretty sort ne.”

The appearance of the youth in his head instantly becomes unimpressive**.

(**猥琐: Unimpressive, insignificant, but can also be used to describe behaviour as perverted, creepy. I’m not too sure how to translate this, so I will go the ‘ugly’ (unimpressive) route)

“He’s headstrong too, wanting to use these demons to go pro.”

The image of the hotblooded and unimpressive-looking youth in Fang Luofan’s head instantly becomes that of an immature, bear child**. Added to the fact that he brought over a cake as a meeting gift…… How old is this child exactly ah?

(**A bear child 熊孩子: childish and immature)

After listening to Qin Fei’s evaluation, Fang Luofan’s anticipation towards meeting this new jungler drops several notches. He uneasily questions: “You’re very satisfied with him?”

Qin Fei smilingly shrugs his shoulders, absolutely impossible to read.

“It’s best if I go see for myself ba……” Saying this, Fang Luofan leaves the sofa, carrying a unsettled face as he heads to the training room.

“Coach!”

“Coach, good afternoon!”

Luo Yiming who is in the training room has been staring fixatedly at the door ne. The moment Fang Luofan steps in, he immediately shouted out his greeting. Following closely, Ye Hong and Han Leng also greeted the coach.

Fang Luofan nods in response, his line of sight flickering over the trio’s faces, before landing on the unfamiliar face located furthest away.

Contradicting the youth he conjured in his head, he’s neither hotblooded nor does he look unimpressive. Not even half the shadow of an immature bear child can be spotted on him — He’s a very pure and innocent-looking youth.

Seeming a little anxious, he gazes at him shyly, as if wanting to say something but is unable to.

Jing Yu is indeed very anxious. He doesn’t know how he should use address pg‘s Coach ah. Can he also call him Coach? But he still hasn’t signed a contract with pg……

As a matter of fact, he doesn’t even know who pg‘s Coach is?

Thankfully, Fang Luofan does not take offense, gently smiling: “You guys sure are capable ah. I dug around everywhere till I was dizzy and muddled. Yet, the moment I turned my back, you guys have already sneakily found a teammate. Why don’t you introduce him to me?”

“His name is Jing Yu.” Ye Hong says whilst walking over to the back of Jing Yu’s chair, pressing both palms on his shoulders, “The Jing from Jing Ke, and the Yu from Universe, right?”

Jing Yu nods twice, finally relaxing some and greeting Fang Luofan: “Hello, Coach.”

Who cares? Let’s just call him Coach ba! So long as he follows everyone else, he shouldn’t be wrong.

Fang Luofan contentedly nods in reply: “Hello.” And directly asks him, “Do you only play the jungler? Have you played the other positions before?”

Jing Yu obediently replies: “In the beginning, I played everything. Then, after I discovered I could do jungling, I just kept playing the jungler. In cases where there are others gunning for the spot though, I will play other positions.”

Just by listening to him, it’s obvious he’s hasn’t received professional training ah! Is he a normal player of Demon Lord?

Fang Luofan deliberates for a while before continuing to ask: “You like jungling a lot?”

“You can say that.” Jing Yu’s reply is a bit blurry. Rather than saying he likes jungling, it’d be better to say he likes most jungler demons’ face value.

With that said, after playing the jungler so much, it’s true that he enjoys the exhilaration of collecting the enemies’ heads, as well as the sense of accomplishment derived from actively escaping the enemy’s relentless ganking.

So, he does indeed like playing the jungler ba.

Fang Luofan follows: “What demons do you specializes in?”

Facing this question, Jing Yu is nervous once again.

Last night, when answering Qin Fei, he totally didn’t bother to keep his hopes up and easily tossed out “Frozen Heart” this reply.

But now, he is already here at pg‘s clubhouse. Just thinking about how he might able to brush shoulders with Qin Fei in a game, he doesn’t want to give up this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Hence, he contemplates for a long time and finally waveringly replies:

“I know how to use most of the jungler demons. I also know how to use the more aggressive Death God, as well as the more commonly used Burial Sword and Mad Bones*.” With a pause, he adds, “However, the demon I specialize in is Frozen Heart.”

(* Mad Bones 狂骨: Riri translated this as Rampant Corpse, but for the sake of easy memory and imagery, I’ll just call him Mad Bones.)

Having heard the first half, Fang Luofan is quite satisfied. Then, hearing the later half, he can’t muster a reaction even after half a day.

Frozen Heart…… is his most experienced demon?!

Don’t talk about the Professional League, this is a demon that is unlikely to appear even in casual games. Yet, he says he ‘specializes’ in it?!

This time, Fang Luofan sinks into a long silence. Jing Yu looks on anxiously, as if waiting for his verdict on doomsday.

Yet, after a period of silence, Fang Luofan opens his mouth, totally passing over his own opinion on this matter: “All gather up in the conference room. I’ll give the briefing for this afternoon’s match.”

Jing Yu blinks dazedly, unable to react till Ye Hong pats him on the shoulder: “Come on. Follow us, little Goldfish~”

The almost pampering tone gives Jing Yu a pause.

He instinctively gets up to follow Ye Hong. After leaving the Training Room, he catches sight of Qin Fei, who is rising from the sofa.

Qin Fei doesn’t need anyone to remind him. He automatically catches up with the team, flanking Jing Yu’s side.

Jing Yu wants to look at him but doesn’t dare too. He forces his head down in mild distress.

Unexpectedly, Qin Fei slings an arm over the back of his neck, chuckling by the side of his ear: “That guy just now is pg‘s coach, Fang Luofan. He is a former pro-gamer, his temper is extremely good, so you don’t need to stress so much when you’re facing him. Relax a little.”

“En.” Jing Yu nods.

As if he’d say, he’s actually nervous because Qin Fei is by his side……

pg‘s conference room is much bigger than the slightly cramp practice room. There’re more chairs too. It can easily hold some 10 people..

Six people individually found a good spot to sit down.

Fang Luofan settles at the end of the long table. Turning on the laptop in a practiced motion, he switches on the projector. Atop the large screen, the information on Ane comes into view.

“With the exception of Jing Yu who has just joined us, those present have all battled Ane. Do you still remember what Ane‘s playstyle is like?” When Fang Luofan becomes serious, his voice loses all its previous gentleness, turning extremely rational and even a little cold.

Luo Yiming raises his hand fighting to answer: “I know, I know! Two words — Low key!”

“……” Fang Luofan clears his throat, passing over his answer to continue, “They play very cautiously; If they can’t win, then they run. Only rarely do they give us the chance to succeed at a PK. Although in the official tournament, this team was ranked higher than us by only a seat, amongst all pro-gamer teams, their play style is the best at suppressing us.”

“Ane mostly consists of these five people. Besides them, there is also a substitute. Since that person rarely shows up, today, we won’t talk about him.” Saying this, Fang Luofan flips through the collated information, starting with a breakdown of Ane‘s members.

“We’ll first look at Ane‘s solo-laner, pL. He specializes in warrior-type demons. Amongst the ones most frequently used, there is: Burial Sword, Mad Bones. As we all know, Burial Sword is usually used to play the jungler position. However, pL really likes to use this kind of jungler demons to solo-lane. Though he plays pretty weakly in the first half, he’s especially skilled at collecting heads in the second half. However, our current solo-laner is Qin Fei, so keeping him in control in the first half shouldn’t be any problem. Just focus on protecting the marksman in the second half.”

“Subsequently, Ane‘s jungler, Fly, is an expert on playing assassin-type demons. His jungling awareness* is very strong. Wherever there is a near-kill, he would be there. With him around, Ye Hong and Luo Yiming, you two better restrain yourselves. Don’t push too deep into the enemy’s territory. Limit yourselves in things like tower-diving* and ganking.”

(*jungling awareness = situational awareness = ability to overlook the entire situation of the battle on the map at all times)

(*tower-diving: 抗塔: act of deliberately entering the attack range of the enemy’s turret with the goal of killing an enemy)

“Anggh……” Luo Yiming falls flat on the table, expressing discontent with this request.

Fang Luofan pretends not to have seen his response, carrying on to say: “Ane‘s mid-laner wing, and marksman gY, are the polar opposites of you.” He can’t help but sigh. “You guys gank those that can be killed without letting them go; So long as they can escape, they will always slip away. Killing them is too difficult, especially in the first half. So have more patience.”

“Actually, the most difficult player should be their support, hI. Whether it’s keeping control over the pace or guarding the marksman, he does everything to the T. Their mid-laner and marksman rarely get killed, always seeking the safest environment under him to go on offense.”

“Thus, Ane‘s strategy is roughly as follows — The support protects the mage and marksman to let them go on offense, then they let the solo-laner and jungler finish off any remaining blood. We must use the fastest speed to attack and kill off their marksman, clean up all other people, only then can we firmly grasp victory in our hands.”

Saying up to here, Fang Luofan lifts his head to gaze at his audience, a cursory glance sweeping past them before landing upon Jing Yu’s face. He tentatively inquires: “Jing Yu, do you have any thoughts on this?”

Jing Yu freezes. After sinking into a moment of deep thought, he uses an extremely solemn tone to reply: “My Frozen Heart can definitely win.”

Fang Luofan: “……”
