The second Jing Yu sees Luo Yiming locking Sariel, he nearly spits out a mouthful of blood.

What kind of nonsensical team is this?!

Seeing as if the enemy has already confirmed their marksman, Jing Yu skips right over Luo Yiming and asks Ye Hong: “Mid-laner, what do you want?”

Ye Hong unexpectedly answers very cooperatively, yet his reply is only one word: “Anything.”

Jing Yu: “……”

Since this is an e-Sports Da Lao, Jing Yu doesn’t dare to roast him. He can only glumly turn his gaze to Qin Fei by his side, hoping for some directions.

Qin Fei peers at his own screen as though holding back his laughter. Despite clearly not looking at him, as if sensing his gaze, he calmly says: “Give me Lilith.”

Finally, there’s a normal choice.

Jing Yu mentally lets out a sigh of relief and instalocks Lilith.

This time, the ball’s sent rolling back to Ane. In contrast to the previous time, they hesitate for a long moment, as if unable to come to a decision.

Then, a new message refreshes in the chatbox:

【Enemy】Ane – hI : Hey now, am I really that scary? Why do you keep targeting me like this?

hI, that is Ane‘s support.

Jing Yu expresses his deepest condolences for his plight.

【Team】Gold Fish not Salted Fish: Excuse us. My teammate dreamt that you stole into his house last night and smashed his ancestral grave.

“Hahahahaha!”

Don’t even ask. Such an unrestrained chortle, who else but Luo Yiming is capable of it?

Luo Yiming: “You’re too accurate, my god! You’re killing me!”

While he’s still busy laughing, on the other side, Ane has finally made their decision. They instalock Black Serpent and Burial Sword.

Then, subsequently, Ye Hong picks Scarlet Fury, and Han Leng helps Luo Yiming to instalock True Arrow.

At this point, Ane still has two positions which they haven’t locked, and pg only has Jing Yu’s Frozen Heart left.

Frozen Heart has never made an appearance in a professional match before, so whether it is Ban or Pick, the enemy would never think of choosing Frozen Heart. pg‘s line-up is more or less decided. Now, there’s only Ane‘s decision left.

Once again, after a long deliberation, Ane finally instalocks Mad Bones and Ariel.

Immediately thereafter, Qin Fei locks Frozen Heart.

Ban & Pick Session, ended.

Both parties’ finalized line-ups are as follows:

(Order: Top, Middle, Bottom, Jungler, Support)

pg: Lilith, Scarlet Fury, True Arrow, Frozen Heart, Sariel

Ane: Mad Bones, Black Serpent, Centaur, Burial Sword, Ariel

Each team begins swapping demons amongst themselves according to the order. Upon receiving Frozen Heart, Jing Yu immediately sets about to organize his equipment.

During the final countdown, Ane sends them messages as though feeling restless. Moreover, in one go, five messages were sent in bulk:

【Enemy】Ane – Fly (Burial Sword) : ?!

【Enemy】Ane – hI (Ariel): Frozen Heart?

【Enemy】Ane – pL (Mad Bones) : Qin Fei you’re solo-laning?!

【Enemy】Ane – wing (Black Serpent) : What’s the situation?

【Enemy】Ane – gY (Centaur) : Fuck!

In response to this kind of barrage, naturally, they’ll have to give an equally enthusiastic reply:

【Team】pg – Sleep (Lilith) : Delighted? Surprised?

【Team】pg – one (True Arrow) : So what if you got Centaur? I have Sariel!

【Team】pg – hhh (Sariel) : Hahaha, being able to snatch Sariel sure feels good!

【Team】pg – Leaf (Scarlet Fury) : It’s just whether you guys are scared yet!

With these retorts, Jing Yu naturally can’t let himself fall behind. So, he tosses in his line:

【Team】Gold Fish not Salted Fish (Frozen Heart) : My Frozen Heart is smooth as heck!

Before the enemy gets the chance to respond, the countdown ends, bringing both parties onto the battlefield.

Pro-gamers have a vast difference in their playing style compared to ordinary players.

The most intrinsic difference is — Ordinary players are more focused on individual performances, whereas pro-gamers are wholly focused on the victory of the entire team.

Hence, within the first half of pro matches, teams will frequently distribute gold amongst themselves to let certain members attack, especially when it comes to ADC* players.

(*ADC : Attack Damage Carry: Low health, High Attack Damage / Attack ability)

From the start of the match, whether they’re pg or Ane, all 10 people and all 10 characters individually shoot towards their respective jungles.

The solo-laner and mid-laner race off to defeat the Blue Demon in the Upper Jungle. With the mid-laner finishing off the Blue Demon, they will gain the right to replenish their mana continuously.

The marksman, support, and jungler head down to kill off the Bottom Jungle’s Red Demon. With the marksman finishing off the Red Demon, they will secure the benefit of constant revival.

Jing Yu has watched PGL before, so he naturally knows these “Unspoken Rules”. Nevertheless, when he’s the one operating in the game, it still gives him an odd sense of novelty.

To be honest, even now, he’s still somewhat suspended in a state of disbelief. To think he’d able to team up together with a bunch of pro-gamers in a practice match against another pro-gamer team.

Even more so, to think that amongst his teammates, there’s actually his favourite pro-gamer, Qin Fei.

Thankfully, Jing Yu has always been able to control his emotional state during matches, so he is able to calmly and steadily bring out his best play.

He estimates the Red Demon’s blood count as well as his own party’s. Then, feeling that it’s about time, he dodges away with impeccable timing, beating the surrounding jungle monsters senseless.

After Luo Yiming takes down the Red Demon’s head, he races down to the Bottom Lane to farm their creeps. Jing Yu looks at his own jungler’s health bar which is drastically decreasing under the jungle monster’s attacks. He scrunches his brows in a frown.

Because the one who finished off the Red Demon is the marksman, Jing Yu’s Frozen Heart didn’t manage to get too many EXP*. Even now, he’s still at Lv. 1. Having helped to block the marksman just now, the Red Demon had clawed away much of his health, and he’d already used his Smite*. If this continues, he’ll be bitten to death by these lowly monsters, effectively becoming the first gamer on field to die.

(*EXP: Naturally, Experience Points)

(*Smite: A Conjurer attack.)

Should he give up?

But to give up on securing the Fountain halfway through, it’ll be a waste of too much time. That interlude would suffice for the enemy jungler to eliminate all forest monsters. The entire team’s gold would take a hit and be pulled down just because he went back to the tower.

That can’t happen! He must definitely take these monsters’ heads at all costs!

Having made this decision, Frozen Heart successively uses Flash to dodge, winding circles around the band of forest monsters. After dodging all their attacks, he immediately pulls out his sword and lunges forward! Once Frozen Heart’s 1st ability is refreshed, then attack again!

After much struggles, he finally manages to clear off the demons while defending his remaining blood. Frozen Heart levels up to Lv. 2, and Flash is gained!

Because Frozen Heart has high AD*, this exchange hadn’t taken up too much time. In fact, he should have finished at approximately the same time as the enemy jungler.

(*AD: Reminder that Attack Damage is attack ability)

But what about the blood count?

Even if the enemy jungler is not in sight, Jing Yu can still somewhat estimate it — the enemy Burial Sword should have three-quarters blood left, yet he only has one thin skin of blood.

Should he return to the turret?

So unwilling……

At this moment, Fang Luofan who has been monitoring the battle from behind the five people also furrows his brows, his expression grave.

Frozen Heart’s fragility is much more serious than he’d expected.

If this continues, their gold in the first half will forcefully shaken off from the enemies’ tail ba?

Jing Yu only hesitates for a second before returning to the tower. He knows it’s not the time to be stubborn right now. Things which a 100% can’t be accomplished, he won’t be able to accomplish them even if a miracle occurs. He can only use his fastest speed possible later to gather the gold.

Whilst on his way back to the turret, he clicks open both sides’ gold and confirms: Indeed, his gold is ranked fourth within the team, surpassing only the support, whereas the enemy jungler is way ahead of him. However, looking on a broader scale, the two teams’ gold unexpectedly don’t differ by much.

In particular, there’s the solo-laner. The allied solo-laner’s gold clearly suppresses his counterpart’s. From the mini-map, it’s easy to see that Qin Fei’s Lilith is pressuring the enemy so much, the enemy solo-laner is unable to take even a step out of their tower.

As expected of Fei Ge. Even playing as the solo-laner, he is able to make up for the entire team’s gold.

The worry that momentarily squirmed its way into his heart instantly dissipates. Jing Yu attentively directs his bloody Frozen Heart to float down the direction of the bottom jungle.

Perhaps he detected Jing Yu’s motion. Luo Yiming hastily yells: “Goldfish, come quick! Help me to finish off the enemy marksman!”

Jing Yu continues grinding* his jungler: “I haven’t got my jungler’s blade yet. My AD’s too low, so you hold on.” Halting here, “Mid-laner, retreat. The enemy jungler is here to gank you.”

(*grinding: killing the forest monsters to level up)

Ye Hong: “Shit. I almost……”

“Retreat.” Jing Yu repeats in a firm tone that allows no room for argument.

In this moment, Ye Hong suddenly conjures a strange delusion that the one who spoke up is Qin Fei — This kind of commanding aura, he’s really too familiar with it……

In the end, he obeys the command to retreat, giving up on the enemy Black Serpent who is still left with one-third blood.

Yet, being pg‘s mid-laner, will he really retreat?

Ye Hong answers this question with his actions — He returns to the tower for not long, before a sudden Flash cuts into the right side of the Mid Lane’s grass plains. Sure enough, he spots the hiding Burial Sword who is just intending to launch a sneak attack.

Ye Hong makes a decision on the spot, pressing ‘Qw’ one after the other – The 1st ability Drain; the 2nd ability Blood Entanglement. After releasing this CC* ability, he flees, plunging his Scarlet Fury head-first into Frozen Heart’s jungle.

(*CC: crowd control. In this case, the CC ability refers to blood Entanglement)

At this moment, his Scarlet Fury doesn’t even have one-third of his blood left. It will be very easy for Burial Sword to kill him in one move.

The moment the control breaks, the enemy Burial Sword naturally Flashes to catch up immediately! Still missing by a bit? Flash, again!

What about Ye Hong? Seizing the moment where the enemy Burial Sword’s Flash is still in effect, he turns tail, rounding about a pillar in the midst of the grass plains to U-turn back towards his own tower.

Right at this instance, the enemy Black Serpent is still in the Mid Lane farming their creeps. After seeing Ye Hong’s Scarlet Fury blaze pass, how can he let go of this chance? Instantly, he throws a Water Tornado at him. And yet, Ye Hong reacts as if he knows it in advance. With a jerk of his mouse, Scarlet Fury slants to the side, narrowly dodging the attack.

Black Serpent catches up, activating his 1st ability, Roar! Burial Sword also catches up very swiftly, raising his 40m long sword about to hack down at him!

Looking on as the piteous distance between them slowly draws to zero, his blood count soon to drop to zero in the next wave of attacks, not only does Ye Hong not flinch, but he even reveals a crafty smile: “It’s just about time.”

No sooner had he spoken, his abilities refreshed! Scarlet Fury not only does not run, but even whirls around to launch himself at the two enemies, using 2nd ability Blood Entanglement!

Just like that, the enemy Black Serpent and Burial Sword, under the influence of Scarlet Fury’s Blood Entanglement, are completely controlled.

The 1st ability Drain works to drain the enemies of their health while simultaneously recovering the user’s health. At the same time, a flash of cold light connects to the enemy Burial Sword. Frozen Heart’s silhouette which carries a trail of frosty mist glides towards them with a “Sou–“. The 1st ability, Frozen Blade, directly skewers two demons in one go!

【System】Frozen Heart, First Kill!

【System】The enemy Burial Sword has been killed!

【System】Frozen Heart, Double Kill!

【System】The enemy Black Serpent has been killed!

Listening to the string of system prompts that come one after another, Ye Hong can’t help but whistle: “I knew you’d be able to catch up!”

What about Jing Yu?

Right now, he even has the notion of strangling Ye Hong by the neck: “Are you insane?”

If it isn’t for him monitoring the mini-map constantly; if it isn’t for him feeling that something isn’t quite right and launching himself wholeheartedly to madly increase his APM, gritting through the damages to kill mobs of monsters and gather gold to purchase a jungler’s sword; If it isn’t for him flashing into the mid-lane in time, calculating the right position and appropriate distance to impale Burial Sword — If he’d misstepped in even one of these procedures, he’d have been unable to rush to Ye Hong’s side at the eleventh hour, co-opping to double kill.

If he hadn’t managed to catch up, then, the moment Blood Entanglement broke, the one who would have died would be Ye Hong’s Scarlet Fury.

Jing Yu is frightened to the point of cold sweat by that tense situation just now. And yet, all of this, it’s all entirely because Ye Hong didn’t listen to his command:

“Didn’t I tell you to retreat?” When he gets angry, his words come faster.

Ye Hong doesn’t reply immediately. After farming the creeps, while leisurely heading back to the tower, he uses a very diligent tone to say: “I retreated. Retreated to the tower. Then, I began my sneak attack.” Pausing, “Aren’t I very obedient?”

Jing Yu: “……”
