Upon returning to the Senju compound, Nawaki encountered Tsunade and Kushina in the courtyard. Tsunade was mentoring Kushina, a scene Nawaki had become quite familiar with. Kushina, with her ample chakra reserves, was visibly manifesting a significant amount of chakra under Tsunade's guidance.

"Welcome back," Tsunade greeted as she saw him. "We've been waiting for you to start dinner."

Nawaki nodded in acknowledgment. "I'm back."

Lying on the grass and inhaling its familiar scent, Nawaki rose to his feet. A nearby bush rustled, and in response, his arm, wrapped in a swirling wind tunnel, lashed out towards the sound.

"Whoosh!"

He approached the spot and collected the dim red light orbs. 'Rabbits no longer pose a challenge,' he thought to himself.

His mind then shifted to the newfound power he had acquired. Dark mist enveloped his hands as he experimentally pressed one to the ground. The force was immense, creating deep indentations in the earth.

Withdrawing his hand, Nawaki then tried using the power on his feet. Initially, nothing seemed amiss, but then it appeared as though he was stepping into his own shadow. However, he halted the experiment as the dark mist didn't reach beyond his knees.

'Can I become one with the shadow?' he pondered, excitement quickening his heartbeat.

When Nawaki deactivated the dark mist, his foot was stuck in the ground, but reactivating the mist allowed him to free it. He continued experimenting, this time with shadow clones. The idea of getting stuck in the ground wasn't particularly appealing, but he discovered that he could literally transform into a shadow and 'swim' across the ground. The presence of the shadow clone using this ability was nearly undetectable, making it almost impossible to track.

"Damn, this is badass!" he exclaimed. Though he realized that disabling the dark mist effect would leave him immobilized in the ground, he saw no reason to do so intentionally.

Additionally, Nawaki found that if he chose to stay above ground in his dark mist form, his speed increased significantly until he exerted more effort for defense. Although his defense didn't improve substantially, the 'slipperiness' of the form provided an effective means of protection.

Observing his shadow clones spar, Nawaki noticed that while he could land blows, any impact in dark mist mode resulted in just an illusory dark mist effect, with the actual body having already shifted position, leaving behind an after-image in the form of dark mist.

Another thrilling discovery was his ability to use wind and fire techniques while in this mode. The wind, influenced by the dark mist, took on a darker shade, while the fire transformed into what he dubbed 'Dark Fire,' and the wind as 'Dark Wind.'

The dark mist also affected his ability to create shadow clones. Previously capable of producing 26 simultaneously, he now found himself nearing the creation of 100 clones at once.

While testing these new powers, he effortlessly eliminated about ten rabbits that stumbled upon him, without needing to move from his spot.

With his test results nearly finalized, Nawaki decided to attempt flying. He started with a shadow clone for safety; a fall from the sky could be disastrous, especially if the monsters took advantage of his vulnerability.

The clone's feet were encircled by tornadoes of a wind-dark mist mix, creating a turbulent noise. Using flames as a propellant and for steering, the clone soon lifted off the ground, rapidly ascending to ten meters and continuing to climb.

Nawaki's heart raced with excitement at this new capability. However, his elation was short-lived as a gigantic dragon appeared suddenly. With no time to react, Nawaki instinctively transformed into a shadow on the ground using his dark mist power and swiftly retreated as far as possible, leaving the shadow clones as a diversion.

The shadow clone that had attempted flying was quickly eliminated, along with many others, primarily due to the powerful winds generated by the colossal dragon's wings. Nawaki chose not to return, instead moving as far away as possible. Out of nearly 100 clones, 79 had been lost, with the surviving ones likely scattering to hunt rabbits or armored dogs.

Nawaki then created new shadow clones, sending ten of them to attempt flying again, while the rest were tasked with hunting. Despite focusing on testing his strength, he also needed to replenish his orb supply.

Ten minutes later, one of the shadow clones found a more effective method: using wind in the hands and fire at the feet. The other clones adopted this approach, yielding better results than the initial attempt.

Meanwhile, Nawaki's main body continued to hide, experimenting with his ability to move through shadows. This new sensation was both exhilarating and novel, reminiscent of swimming or sliding on ice – a memory from his past life.

Another experiment involved pulling a rabbit into the dark mist. The rabbit's resistance limited the effectiveness of the mist, but Nawaki managed to pull a weaker one to the ground. When the rabbit emerged from the mist, it struggled frantically, reminiscent of a zombie crawling out of the earth, only to meet its end at Nawaki's hands.

Attempting to apply the same technique to a large green wind wolf proved unsuccessful; the wolf's strong will resisted Nawaki's dark mist. Realizing he needed more strength to overpower such creatures, Nawaki contemplated the potential of the purple orbs in enhancing his mental power to eventually subdue the will of the wolves.

While his mental power was gradually increasing thanks to the orbs, he pondered whether it would eventually be sufficient to pull the wolves into the dark mist against their will.

Distractedly, Nawaki noticed one of his shadow clones flying in the sky. Seeing an extension of himself airborne, especially without intentional control, was a surreal experience.

-

After three hours, all of Nawaki's shadow clones had perished and been recreated. Now adept at flying, they soared through the skies. Yet, the mortality rate of the clones had escalated, as they encountered aerial monsters of formidable strength. Even the least intimidating among them was a 400 cm giant green wind wolf.

Suddenly, Nawaki heard a sinister laugh echoing through the air. "Wait, is that me?" he wondered. More specifically, was it one of his shadow clones?

Puzzled about what could have prompted such a laugh from his clone, he soon discovered the reason. The clone had stumbled upon two mice in the midst of reproduction. In a rather intrusive manner, the clone attacked from above with a dark wind boomerang, ending the rodents' amorous encounter.

Despite the grim interruption, Nawaki was pleased to collect ten passion fruit-sized purple orbs from the mice.

Time seemed to fly by in the hunting dimension. More than three hours had passed, yet Nawaki wasn't expelled from the dimension. He began to question why. 'Could it be because I've become stronger?' he pondered.

Unsure of the exact duration he was allowed to stay, Nawaki continued hunting with his clones while his main body remained concealed in the shadows.

As night fell in the hunting dimension, the atmosphere turned eerie. The roars of terrifying beasts resonated through the area, more daunting than any horror movie scene Nawaki remembered from his previous life. The sounds were a stark reminder of the perilous nature of this dimension.
