Anastasia's POV

I find myself subjected to the gaze of others, leaving me feeling inadequate and vulnerable.

Having recently turned 19 years old, my parents and siblings advised me to proceed with caution and give my best efforts, to which I did not respond.

I hold the belief that mortals are inherently weak, hence our reliance on the Grimoire and the Form Chronicles.

Given the fragility of mortals, I have exerted immense effort over the years to diligently practice the Grimoire and the Form Chronicles.

Although utilizing these resources may result in physical weakness, I am steadfast in my stance against allowing the races to surpass the mortals.

"..."

The piercing stares of those around me are becoming increasingly prominent.

"Hey, Rank 10, face me in battle."

This proposition originates from the dragon race.

...I wonder, would I emerge victorious?

As a mortal, I am quite apprehensive about experiencing public humiliation at the hands of fellow mortals.

Nevertheless, I am aware that this issue does not solely belong to me; I am merely positioned highly in the rankings, which draws the attention of all mortals towards me.

Undoubtedly, they bask in the pride of having a mortal among the top ranks.

It seems that their contentment has been bestowed upon me as a responsibility.

I am determined to demonstrate the strength of mortals, assuring that they do not perceive other races to be superior to us.

However, it must be acknowledged that our lack of immortality is indeed a disadvantage.

If by some divine intervention, a chosen ones were to empathize with our desires, someone capable of delivering boundless joy, I beseech the deities to guide this person towards us.

Only then will we witness the arrival of an immortal being who can fulfill the role of not only bringing happiness to all but also ensuring eternal unity.

In fact, perhaps it is the designation of a Ruler of the Universe that truly aligns with our needs.

"..."

After careful consideration, I have decided to accept his challenge.

The other ranker gracefully teleported to the side, assuming the role of a spectator, while the ground beneath us automatically shifted backwards.

We stood facing each other at a distance, preparing for what lay ahead.

"The mortal should remain on the sidelines, as the risk of mortality is significantly higher."

These words reached my ears thanks to the heightened magical hearing.

"Princess Anastasia!"

"Do your best!"

They offered words of encouragement.

"Win, not just for yourself, but for the sake of us mortals!"

"Use the Grimoire!"

"We are magicians!"

The collective voices of the others echoed in perfect harmony.

In response, I nodded, knowing that they could also witness the proceedings due to magical zoom.

The stakes were high. If I were to lose, I would fade away from the rankings, leaving the mortals vulnerable to potential mistreatment by others.

This realization fueled my determination to emerge victorious.

My sword, positioned securely by my side, grants me access to the formidable power of the Form Chronicles.

It is with this ancient source of strength that I will prove to all mortals that we are not to be underestimated.

While I was in contemplation, he abruptly appeared before me and forcefully placed his hand on my forehead.

"Mortal, I won't show mercy," he declared.

Crash

In an instant, I felt a jarring impact as he propelled me backwards, causing my head to collide with the unforgiving stone beneath me.

"Akh!"

The agony I experienced was excruciating; it felt as though my skull would be crushed, and my entire body ached from the force of the blow.

Fortunately, within the confines of the academy arena, the presence of magic and protective barriers provided some shield.

However, it seemed that the barrier guarding my body had already been breached, for I felt the sting of the wind against my vulnerable form.

"..."

Suddenly, in my vulnerable state, he lifted me by my forehead, casting me aside, resulting in a merciless collision with the unyielding stone floor.

My body tumbled, sustaining further damage.

I find myself overcome with a sense of profound numbness, coupled with the persistent throbbing pain in my head.

My body now bears a multitude of scratches and wounds, and my face leaks blood, pooling at the entrance of my nostrils.

"...A..ah."

I am experiencing a significant amount of pain throughout my entire body.

...Thankfully, this is a duel and not an actual fight, and we are within the confines of the academy.

I do not wish to perish at this moment, as I have made a promise to my grandmother that I will relay the story to the appropriate person.

"..."

While I remained prone on the ground, the gradual healing magic of the arena began to alleviate the pain.

"..."

I noticed a radiant glow nearby, which turned out to be the rank 2 individual who swiftly healed me.

She seemed concerned for my well-being, and I managed to rise to my feet.

A sense of joy overcame me.

The presence of the angel and its convenient abilities were truly advantageous.

"Rank 2, cease your healing efforts," a voice directed towards her. Heeding this instruction, she disregarded it.

"I am grateful for your assistance," I expressed my gratitude towards her.

"I am pleased to have been of help," she responded, as I directed my gaze towards him.

The purpose behind the ranking system is to keep a record of individuals partaking in duels, with the option of receiving aid and support.

This is solely for the purpose of documentation and teamwork.

While I was at a short distance from him and we made eye contact, he suddenly emitted a burst of flames from his mouth, the size of which surpassed the height of an average human.

It seemed as if his intention was to set me on fire.

"..."

The circling flames started moving towards me, prompting me to shut my eyes and carefully consider the appropriate move from the form chronicles.

If I make an incorrect move, I risk being significantly weakened.

I slightly inclined my body forward and extended my arms downward, with one knee positioned at the forefront and the other leg extended towards the back, my two feet planted firmly on the stony ground.

"..."

Gripping the sword hilt firmly at my side, I kept my head focused straight ahead while keeping my eyes closed.

"..."

Having devoted numerous years to diligently practicing the form chronicles, I am confident that my movements are accurate.

All that remains is to articulate the spell, which is an integral component of the form chronicles, signifying one of the chronicles.

God of War, Ares, bear witness to my actions!

The Ruler has created you and entrusted you with the position of authority in this world.

However, you possess the power that was bestowed upon you, alongside the mystical abilities that accompany it!

「Slew Style」

Woosh

As I assumed a low stance, I simultaneously opened my eyes and swiftly drew my sword from the side, slicing it through the air in front of me.

Craacks

A red glow emanated from the blade, accompanied by a powerful gust of wind that caused the stone ground to shatter.

The trailing red glow swiftly moved forward, effortlessly cutting through a large fire before dissipating.

The energy released by the slash was absorbed by the red glow, which perfectly aligned with my blade.

Crash

Each time the slash traveled through the air, it caused significant damage to the ground beneath.

"Aaarrgghh!!"

My opponent received a quick blow to his chest, resulting in a pained groan escaping his lips.

I adjusted my stance and stood tall, locking eyes with him.

「Semblance」

Suddenly, he underwent a transformation, assuming his true form as a red dragon. Four legs, his head bore curved horns, his body was covered in thick scales, and he stood at a towering height of twenty feet.

Bwoosh

He ignited a significantly larger fire in his mouth, resembling a sphere, prompting me to swiftly retreat to the side.

"..."

With great haste, I reached for the grimoire that was fastened to my left waist.

As he continued to fuel the flames, I retrieved my grimoire from its pouch belt and ceased running, seeking shelter from the immense fire on the ground.

I positioned myself at a considerable distance, obstructed by the raging flames, as smaller fires surrounded me.

"Where are you?!"

In an enraged tone, he bellowed, and I was standing still, I clutched the grimoire and examined it closely.

The cover of the grimoire exhibits a white hue with intricate designs etched into it, featuring interlocking circles traversed by numerous lines.

This grimoire is rather substantial in thickness, measuring 30 centimeters in size.

It possesses a menacing quality that sends shivers of fear down my spine.

"Anastasia, you must exercise caution and adhere to the teachings I have imparted upon you. Trust in yourself and recognize that the grimoire is meant solely for us, mortal practitioners of magic."

Suddenly, my father's words came rushing back to me, causing me to release a sigh as I endeavored to regain composure.

I would like to demonstrate the power of using the grimoire to inspire other mortals, so that they may have the courage to use the grimoire.

「Voces Magicae」

I spoke the words 'Voice Magic' and suddenly, the book illuminated, glowing weakly and floating in front of me.

Whoosh

A strong wind picked up, causing the fires around us to disappear.

I invoked the power of incantation to initiate the process of reciting the ancient spellbook.

The numerous words effortlessly connected with my thoughts, and I promptly corrected any errors that arose.

Everyone turned their attention towards me, their voices filled with shock.

The dragon also stared at me, and we stood face to face at a short distance.

The upper half of my body, including my arms, was illuminated by the light emitting from the grimoire.

「Ayin Devinctionibus」

I whispered the words 'Silent Incantation.' Suddenly, I vanished from their view, disappearing from the arena.

However, in my eyes, they remained motionless and silent, including my opponent.

「Acceleration」

I uttered the spell while grasping the sword, employing the force of acceleration to propel myself swiftly through the air towards my opponent.

With a forceful slash, I strike his chest, landing gracefully on the ground.

I am sincerely grateful to the Ruler of the Universe who bestowed this upon us, as it has made us stronger than anyone else.
