Chapter 58

In this life, many problems could be solved by manipulating and controlling others to do your bidding. It was a cheat-like skill, a powerful tool that could bend others to your will.

For example, it could prove invaluable when you needed to carry five injured arrancars atop the back of a colossal cow hollow or could help you prepare a gift for one of your girlfriends.

The potential for it was limitless and could change the tides in your favor.

But sometimes, it could be a double edged sword, ready to cut your fingers.

Why?

I contemplated this, bored out of my mind as I willed a hollow to stalk a cautious Ichigo Kurosaki from afar.

The Shinigami symbol on his hand was beeping like crazy as it felt my spiritual energy being released in every part of Karakura Town.

The reason behind my current predicament was as simple as it was absurd. It all began when my dear little sister saw me controlling a cow hollow after I dropped Grimmjow and his fraccion in Las Noches’ infirmary.

Then, she had begged to deliver a letter to her crush, Ichigo Kurosaki. Her eyes were so shining and pitiful that I couldn't say no to her.

And there I was, in the human world, controlling a hollow that resembled a grotesque centipede, its elongated whiskers swaying with eerie grace. The bastard didn’t deserve to meet a cute hollow or get a letter full of my Orihime’s love.

As minutes turned into what felt like an eternity, my patience wore thin, and I could no longer bear observing him. So, I willed the centipede-like hollow to rush forward.

Ichigo's eyes widened in alarm as the repulsive creature closed in on him. “What the….”

Acting as fast as possible, I manipulated one of the hollow's whiskers to swiftly coil around his hand, the one that held his shinigami symbol.

Of course, the hollow lacked the strength to stop Ichigo from transforming into his shinigami form, but it succeeded in immobilizing his hand for a precious moment.

That’s why, I took advantage of his distraction to move another of the hollow’s whiskers to slip a note I had written, not a letter, into the pants’ pocket of his human body.

“Let go, you oversized bug!” Ichigo bellowed, unaware of the whisker groping his empty body.

With a great tug of strength, he managed to stick his shinigami symbol on his chest. Releasing his soul and unleashing his true power.

“Bring it on!” He declared, unsheathing his big ass cleaver.

Not feeling like watching over as he killed my puppet, I released my control over the hollow, allowing it to resume its own autonomy.

The fragment of my consciousness that had been manipulating returned to my main body.

Slowly, I opened my eyes. The first sight I saw was that of my sister's worried face as she waited for my awakening.

“Is Kurosaki fine? Did you give him my letter?” Orihime eagerly asked me as soon as she noticed me move my stiff shoulders.

Seeing her flustered like that, her eyes filled with concern over a boy, I couldn’t help but lament how unfilial she had grown with age.

“I can’t believe my sister would betray me for a grumpy boy.” I cried out.

“Eh?” She let out a cute cry, her eyes swimming right and left while flailing her arms like an octopus.

“It's not like that, brother. We're just friends who've fought side by side... I definitely don’t like him.”

Seeing her like that, entering her denial mode, I couldn’t help but sulk as I turned down to my sole solace.

“Fortunately, I had my Noelle and Esmeralda with me, right?” I told my children as I squeezed them in a tight hug, healing my aching heart. “You two would never turn your backs on daddy, would you?”

“Daddy is being annoying.” Noelle declared. Pushing me away, she squirmed out of my grasp.

I gasped dramatically, clutching my chest with my now free hand.

“I can’t believe it, the betrayal, the cold!” I declared theatrically.

Esmeralda rolled her eyes at me. But, despite her discomfort, she didn’t move from her comfortable spot on my lap. Though, she pouted as her gaze turned toward Noelle.

On the other hand, my mischievous, purple haired daughter got up from my lap and dashed over to her mother.

“Well done, sweetheart! I'm so proud of you.” Cirucci praised, giving Noelle a high-five.

“Yes, I, the best.” Noelle replied enthusiastically as she skipped around her mother.

I raised my hand to my forehead, feeling conflicted.

The realization struck me like a thunderbolt. I couldn’t believe Cirucci was turning our daughter into a mini version of herself.

I looked at them laughing and then I turned to Orihime, who wore a blissful smile, lost in her thoughts about Ichigo.

I let out a dramatic sigh, shaking my head. “Ah, the world is filled with traitors.”

Orihme looked at me quizzically, tilting her head to the side. She was unable to understand my pain as an older brother.

Aonte Some family drama while Ichigo trains…

Omake: Threat

Ichigo read the note he discovered in his pocket with a raised eyebrow.

“Come to Hueco Mundo by the end of October.” He read aloud. “Otherwise, we may eat your classmate, Orihime Inoue.”

Rage surged within Ichigo, his hands trembling with anger.

“And don't even think about showing up early or bringing any of your shinigami friends with you! Otherwise we may have to hasten our plan.” Ichigo’s voice grew even higher as he read the last part.

Ripping the note to shreds, he rushed back to the Visored’s base, not feeling like buying Lisa a magazine any longer.

There were more important matters at hand than pleasing a pervert. Now, he had a deadline to train. There was no way he would let anyone harm his friends without consequence, even if he was Orihime’s brother.
