“Hey, what’s the matter, Kanon?”

“What are you suggesting, Mother? It’s impossible for an injury to disappear!”

“What?”

I thought I should be the one asking him that  question…

(Shar is in the same state as Kanon. Don’t tell me that even Healing Magic has been destroyed?)

I really wondered what was going on in the magic industry today.

If I stayed ignorant of other things and moved around with the senses I had five hundred years ago, I’d float around strangely and might attract attention. I felt like I’ve already done that…

(Kanon is very wary of me. It’s shocking although we’ve gotten to know each other so well.)

Shar softly exhaled to calm himself and turned his gaze to his son.

“Kanon, have Ram heal you. The Armored Bear has poisonous claws, so you might want to take care of that.”

Ordered by his father, Kanon approached me with trepidation. It seemed that for the members of the Mercure family, Shar’s orders were absolute.

“It’s okay. Don’t be scared.”

Just like the other kids, Kanon’s scars were erased.

“So let’s wait until the other two are feeling better before we have our review session.”

“Review session? Er, Gordon-sensei’s class is at…”

“Gordon is too tired to make good decisions, so let’s give him a break. If he changes his mind, good. If not, I’ll ask him to quit. I hold the personnel authority of the house.”

I looked sideways at Shar, but he expressed no objections.

(Fufufu, too late to regret handing over personnel rights to me, huh?)

After sending the children back to their dormitory, I headed to the mansion with Shar.

“Ram, we’re going to eat together today. I have a lot of questions for you.”

“Sure. I have a lot of questions for you too.”

The world of five hundred years ago and today were completely different. We needed to bridge the gap between the two.

It was necessary for the Mercure family as well as for myself in the future.

I could just throw everything away and leave the house, but at the end of the day, I was fond of my child, and I couldn’t leave Shar, who had begun to change his ways.

A memory of her disciple once telling her that she was too soft-hearted came to mind.

Gordon woke up with a start in the forest as dusk was falling. The sound of birds announcing night and the smell of mud reminded him of the fact that he had been thrown to the ground by Ram.

“That woman…She’s so cocky.”

Gordon swore in a tone unbecoming of a teacher. In fact, he was sick and tired of being a teacher.

(Day in and day out, I have to deal with kids and bow down to the head of the count’s family. Even his aide, Hue, uses me like a jerk, and then there’s the Countess!)

An insignificant lady from a noble family who was always protecting the children and making halfhearted remarks.

(She doesn’t even know what the House of Mercure is.)

Gordon had undergone the same painful training. In addition, the succession battle between the former Count and Countess’ child and Char had broken out, making Gordon’s generation even harsher.

The only survivors of his generation were Shar, Hue, and Gordon…, who sided with Shar at the last minute, and one other person.

In comparison, Kanon’s generation was not facing much adversity. They should be made to suffer as badly as they did, if not more.

Gordon propped himself up with both hands in a puddle. His hair and clothes were covered in mud. On top of that, the Count and his wife and the children were gone.

“Oh, shit! They left me here to die.”

Gordon didn’t like Shar either.

He couldn’t forgive him for allowing that woman to do what she wanted. He also couldn’t forgive the disparity between them, him being the head of the family and he being the babysitter of the kids, even though they were classmates from the same school. Every time Shar ordered him around, he felt bitter.

And Kanon…he was also abhorrent because he was treated like the next head of the family even though he was but a kid. Gordon was certain that he deserved to have a chance.

(Absolutely not. I won’t just let you get away with this. I’ll show you something for your eyes! Don’t think that the Armored Bear is the only one I released into the forest. As long as Shar and Kanon disappear, I’ll be the Count.)

He could bring them to the forest again in the name of training, or he could lead the magical beasts to the mansion now.

“Yes, it’s their fault for taking training so lightly. I’m going to send a magical beast to the academy right now…”

“What are you trying to do?”

Gordon was surprised to hear a reply to his murmur in the forest, where no one was supposed to be.

It was a familiar voice.

“I’ve only been away for a while, but you’ve grown quite a bit, Gordon. Do you think you can do that without Shar-sama’s permission?”

“Val…why are you here? I thought you were in another country on a mission.”

“Yes, I was, and I just came back. Hue asked me to come and pick you up because he said he didn’t want to carry you while he was in a bad mood alone.”

A neutral young man with mottled red and brown hair and green eyes appeared before Gordon.

“Hue is here too?”

When Gordon saw the two of them standing side by side, a bitter expression appeared on his face. He knew from experience that having these twins together was a bonus.

Val and Hue squinted with an expression that was almost identical to each other.

There was no way for Gordon to resist the two men as they unleashed their restraining magic. The violent restraint caused him to faint again.

“Still, I can’t stop worrying about Shar-sama’s wife. When I first met her, I thought she was just a shadowy young lady, but she’s quite interesting now that she beat up Gordon.”

“Please don’t take any unnecessary action, Val. I don’t want to incur Madam’s wrath.”

“She’s becoming more and more interesting.”

With the same scowl on his face as Hue, Val carried the tied up Gordon and walked in the direction of the mansion.
