“Turning humans into mermaids?” The small octopus frowned. “I vaguely remember it’s possible.”

With a forceful squeeze of his eight tentacles, the small octopus levitated, producing a crystal ball about the size of a palm. “This records all the witches’ legacies, but I haven’t finished learning everything, so…”

He looked somewhat embarrassed, lowering his head in front of Li Xi. “I’ll need you to wait for me for a moment.”

Behind the barrier was a cave-like space where the water flowed very smoothly, eliminating concerns about things being swept away. However, compared to his residence, this place was overly rudimentary, lacking even a proper resting spot.

Seeing Li Xi examining the surroundings, the small octopus also turned his head and said, “Wait for me here for a moment.”

Saying this, he rushed to the other side of the cave. His body passed directly through the stone wall, and in no time, he dragged a large shell over, placing it beside Li Xi. “This is the bed mermaids like the most. You can rest inside.”

“A mermaid’s bed?” Li Xi raised an intrigued eyebrow.

He swam to the side of the shell, and it automatically opened, revealing a soft and comfortable interior.

“Many people request the witch to make potions, and afterward, they offer a lot of rewards. This shell was given to me by a mermaid,” the small octopus blushed slightly. “You can rest assured; I haven’t used it.”

Li Xi wasn’t concerned about such details. He entered the shell with great interest, rolling around twice. It felt quite comfortable, and he couldn’t help but sigh that the pursuit of comfort was an instinct shared by all creatures. Even mermaids could create beds using shells at the bottom of the sea.

Seeing him satisfied, the small octopus also relaxed, covering his palm over the crystal ball, closing his eyes, and began perusing the information inside.

Li Xi observed him from the bed, his tail rhythmically tapping against the surface.

The previously injured mermaid was thrown into a corner. It was a black-and-white mottled individual lying face-up. If it weren’t for the still undulating body, it would resemble a dead goldfish turned belly-up.

Li Xi could see a bloody shoulder, likely shot with an arrow. A few fish scales were scattered beside the tail, and the overall appearance was quite miserable.

Li Xi wasn’t particularly interested in rescuing the mermaid; his interest in studying the adorable luminescent octopus and its magical racial talents surpassed that.

In previous worlds, there were also mermaids, but Li Xi hadn’t bothered to visit. Now he felt a bit regretful; he shouldn’t have been lazy and stayed in his territory for a hundred years. Eventually, he got lured into playing a game by two other Demon Lords because of boredom.

…However, meeting Duan Zhen in the game wasn’t too bad.

Li Xi pondered, rubbing his chin. He lay back on the bed, stretching lazily.

“Found it,” the small octopus suddenly exclaimed. His eyes sparkled with joy, “To turn a human into a mermaid, it must be done in the Mermaid Palace’s Tail Transformation Pool. Simultaneously, you need to throw these several types of drugs into the pool.”

He mentioned five, all of which could be found in the ocean. One of them was a mermaid’s tears, and the other four sounded like the internal organs of marine creatures, giving off a somewhat bloody vibe.

Li Xi raised an eyebrow, “Is obtaining these things difficult?”

“Not too much,” the small octopus said, using one of his tentacles to touch his own head, “It shouldn’t be difficult for you.”

The problem was, Li Xi had no intention of doing it himself. He pointed to the mermaid in the corner, “What about his strength?”

The small octopus fell silent.

“Can’t the four of them together be enough?” Li Xi frowned.

“Barely,” the small octopus said, “But the casualties are uncertain.”

He swam to Li Xi’s side, “As long as you become the king, all mermaids will serve you.”

Li Xi made a noncommittal sound.

If it was just a repetitive instance, being a king wouldn’t be an issue. However, this was an independent small world, and when he left, leaving a mess for the mermaids wouldn’t be good.

The small octopus continued to look at him, his young face filled with anticipation.

Li Xi poked his cheek, “You became a witch at such a young age?”

“My father said that dealing with all these racial matters is troublesome and chaotic, so he passed the role of a witch to me and ran away,” the small octopus explained.

“You have a family tradition for this?” Li Xi found it somewhat amusing.

The small octopus lowered his head, somewhat shy.

The tips of his tentacles emitted a faint blue-green light, and Li Xi noticed one of the tentacles drifting near his chest. Unable to resist, he reached out and squeezed it. After the tentacle increased in size, it wasn’t as soft, but it remained smooth.

He played around with it a bit, and the small octopus spoke softly, “If you become the king, I can assist you in the palace… I can even enter the harem.”

Li Xi’s hand, which was squeezing the tentacle, paused for a moment. He retracted it silently.

“How young are you? You don’t seem to have reached maturity yet. Don’t think about those messy things every day,” he lectured in a manner similar to Duan Zhen, adding, “I won’t stay here for long. Afterward, I’ll take my partner to another place.”

“Partner?” The small octopus was surprised.

“He’s someone I like, though I haven’t successfully pursued him yet. But sooner or later, we’ll become partners,” Li Xi raised his chin, “Besides, I won’t establish a harem. As a person… or rather, as a fish, one should be devoted. Having Duan Duan is enough for me.”

Even though Duan Zhen didn’t allow him to call him that, Li Xi would still use it secretly. Only in front of Duan Zhen would he change his address.

What’s wrong with calling him Duan Duan? It’s clearly stated in books that using the character’s of one’s name like this makes it more intimate. And a cute little moonlight should use such ways to address him.

Li Xi swayed his tail, having obtained the information he needed, he was ready to leave.

“There’s one more thing. If humans want to venture into the deep sea, they need to consume this type of seaweed,” the small octopus said with subdued emotion. He pulled out a blue-purple plant seemingly out of nowhere, “It has to be eaten mixed with mermaid scales or bodily fluids. If you only eat the seaweed, they can only breathe underwater and won’t withstand the pressure.”

“Bodily fluids…” Li Xi swallowed a bit of saliva.

“Blood will do,” the small octopus added.

Li Xi rolled his eyes and accepted the seaweed from him, “Got it.”

He was about to leave when the small octopus stopped him again, “Can I go with you? I can help you with many things… And that mermaid, let’s wake him up and leave together. I remember you came to find him.”

Li Xi thought about it and agreed.

He used his tail to pat the mermaid’s belly on the ground, producing a crisp slapping sound. The mermaid’s body trembled, looking as if he wasn’t accustomed to being in water. He struck a comical pose, with his tail swinging uncontrollably, and ended up colliding with the wall.

He probably intended to jump up but forgot that he was a mermaid now.

Apart from a red mark on his belly, he also had a flushed face. He felt pain all over his body.

Li Xi informed him of the situation and glanced at the wound on his shoulder, “This doesn’t need treatment. Mermaids have excellent recovery abilities. If you wake up a bit later, it should heal completely.”

The mermaid felt as if he was being mocked.

They went outside, and Li Xi once again used his sonar abilities to call the other mermaids.

“Is he the witch?” The red-tailed mermaid looked at the small octopus, “He’s too young, isn’t he? Is it true?”

No wonder he doubted; the small octopus looked like a thirteen or fourteen-year-old boy. His face still had a bit of baby fat, and he clung to Li Xi’s side. Apart from the eight tentacles, he showed no signs of the rumored appearance.

“He is,” Li Xi said, “I can confirm that much. Let’s go. We need to find the people on the island.”

He thought of having a legitimate reason to see Duan Zhen, swimming joyfully at the forefront with his tail swinging.

The small octopus lagged behind, his pale lips pursed. At the same time, his gaze, now cold, met the eyes of the red-tailed mermaid who had been observing him. In an instant, his eyes became incredibly chilling, far from the harmless and obedient appearance from before.

The red-tailed mermaid was frightened, and with a flick of his tail, he distanced himself by more than ten meters.

Despite being just a child, the small octopus’s gaze resembled that of some cold-blooded creature. Simply being stared at sent a chill down his spine. Now he didn’t doubt the other’s identity; he suspected the small octopus might secretly harm him.

Considering the small octopus’s obedient appearance in front of Li Xi, he couldn’t help but get closer to Li Xi.

The small octopus swiftly caught up, glaring at him again.

For the small octopus, although Li Xi rejected his love, he still enjoyed Li Xi’s aura and appearance. If he could occupy it for a while, he naturally didn’t want other people around.

Li Xi was oblivious to the “war” happening behind him. Or perhaps he was aware but didn’t intend to pay any attention.

Even with the identity of a Demon King back then, he would attract several bold pursuers every day. If he entertained each one, he would have been annoyed to death. Even now, his interest lay only in the glowing octopus race itself; he didn’t feel anything for the small octopus personally.

Furthermore, for some reason, he found something strange about the two faces1Personnalities of the small octopus.

Ahaha, Duan Zhen gets separated from Li Xi for a single moment and he finds himself new pursuers~~ Wonder if Mr. Stoic Big Bro is going to get jealous ^-^
