Originally, Li Xi had intended to stay in this world a little longer, but being around the others made him feel uneasy, so he decided to continue intervening to hasten the end of this world.

When everyone gathered in front of the altar, Li Xi asked them, “Have you prepared your offerings?”

“We’ve been searching all afternoon, but it’s not easy to find something that would satisfy a deity,” one person complained, “Whatever catches a deity’s eye wouldn’t be something simple.”

“Really?” Li Xi raised his chin, “Those things, don’t you have them on you?”

The person who initially led the group’s face changed, “What are you talking about?”

“Can’t you understand?” Li Xi leaned on Duan Zhen, “Do you really want to find offerings for the sea god in the ocean?”

Duan Zhen let him lean on him, his eyes flashing, “The things the king entrusted to us should be with you. Offer that to the sea god, and it might satisfy him.”

“Yeah, are you planning to keep it?” Li Xi incited, “Offer it now, and maybe we can leave this world immediately.”

The leader clenched their fists, their expression thoughtful.

“Do you have other plans?” Li Xi asked with a smile, “Is your mission different from ours?”

The others’ gazes toward the leader changed after hearing Li Xi’s words. The other humans also said, “Just bring it out. Once the mission is completed, the items will be reclaimed. It’s of no use to you.”

The leader remained silent.

“Maybe what you have can kill all the merfolk,” Duan Zhen spoke up, assessing the leader and faintly sensing something, “But that’s if the sea god doesn’t show up. Do you think what you have can withstand the sea god’s power?”

The leader took a deep breath, “I don’t know if the sea god will be satisfied with this offering.”

Reaching into space, he pulled out a half-foot tall platinum-colored scroll. Even underwater, the scroll remained dry.

Li Xi sensed the power of the deity from the scroll.

“This is an item. Tear open the scroll, and it will summon a deity’s avatar to assist us in killing the merfolk,” the leader, having already taken out the scroll, no longer hid anything, explaining its use in detail.

Li Xi narrowed his eyes slightly.

A deity’s avatar… considering the sea god’s previous indifference towards the merfolk, there was a possibility that the mission takers could use this to kill all the merfolk. However, if they were to directly slaughter the merfolk, even if the sea god didn’t care about them, he might still intervene due to his reputation.

If it weren’t for the mission takers, escaping this small world after completing the mission would be impossible. The king truly didn’t intend for this team to return.

Even if they were mission takers, the sea god might still be able to kill some of them before they could return.

“A scroll containing a deity’s avatar sounds promising,” Li Xi smiled, “Place it in front of the altar and give it a try.”

The leader stepped forward and placed the scroll at the statue’s feet.

Li Xi pretended to close his eyes, and soon, golden light appeared on the statue. However, this time, the golden light gradually detached from the statue and reformed into a humanoid figure, resembling the statue.

“The sea god has responded,” Li Xi informed the people behind him.

Though entirely golden, the sea god’s beauty was still evident. However, his eyes were indifferent, as if he were looking at mere stones rather than living beings.

“State your wishes,” he commanded, and the scroll flew into his hand.

“Please transform us into merfolk,” Duan Zhen stepped forward, realizing the situation, “This scroll is our offering to you.”

Though the scroll was sufficient as an offering to the sea god, considering Li Xi’s instructions, he added, “It’s not enough.”

He raised his gaze and scanned everyone present before smiling faintly, “You, come sing a song. If it’s good, I’ll assist you.”

With that smile, all his previous indifference disappeared, replaced by the demeanor of a rogue teasing a respectable mermaid.

The others, unaware of the truth, grumbled inwardly, thinking that sea gods in any world were fickle. However, his preference for appearances lowered the difficulty of this world. Without Li Xi, they probably wouldn’t even be able to enter the merfolk kingdom.

It was all about pleasing the fish on the plate.

Li Xi widened his eyes, feigning surprise, then quickly composed himself and smiled at the sea god, “It would be my honor to sing for you.”

Duan Zhen pursed his lips beside him.

Then Li Xi diverted his gaze from the sea god and stared blatantly at Duan Zhen, singing a mermaid’s mating song for him.

Since everyone present were fake merfolk, they couldn’t discern the meaning behind the tune.

As for why Li Xi knew the song, it was probably because he heard mermaids singing openly or discreetly wherever he passed by. Though he never paid them any attention, he still secretly remembered the tunes.

The young man’s voice was slightly distorted underwater, but the melody was soft and sweet, enticing and addictive, making one feel entranced and even a bit aroused.

The reaction of the merfolk present was more pronounced. Their eyes were glued to Li Xi, wishing they could swim to him immediately.

Duan Zhen keenly sensed that something was amiss and turned to look at Li Xi. As expected, he saw a hint of affection in Li Xi’s gaze.

Looking back at the sea god, however, he remained expressionless, his eyes half-closed, giving away no hint of his thoughts.

Once Li Xi finished singing, the sea god immediately said, “Well done. I can grant your wishes, but before that, these people need to cleanse themselves and improve their physical qualities. Otherwise, they may explode and die during the transformation.”

He pointed to the four people behind Duan Zhen, “The process is very painful. If you’re sure you want to accept, come stand in front of me.”

The four people looked at each other, realizing there was no turning back now, and reluctantly stepped forward. One of them asked, “There won’t be any danger to our lives, right?”

The sea god glanced at him, “With me here, naturally not.”

With that, he extended his hand and five beams of light entered each person’s body.

Duan Zhen felt nothing particular, but when he looked down, he saw his legs covered in a faint blue light, scales emerging from his waist downwards, eventually transforming into a deep blue fishtail.

However, the faces of the four people beside him contorted in pain, writhing in agony underwater, their mouths gaping but unable to produce any sound.

The sea god stood there, his gaze falling on the void, appearing indifferent and cold.

Li Xi paid no attention to them, curiously approaching Duan Zhen and reaching out to touch his scales, “Duan Duan, your fishtail is deep blue. We’re all blue, like a pair of matching tails.”

Duan Zhen sighed and held Li Xi’s hand, “Don’t move around.”

Being touched on the tail felt somewhat strange to Duan Zhen. He couldn’t shake the feeling that he was being touched on the thigh by Li Xi.

…In that case, wasn’t Li Xi intentionally trying to act indecent by making him touch his tail earlier? If that were the case, then he practically touched Li Xi’s lower half all over!

Duan Zhen maintained a cold and calm expression on his face, but internally, he felt a bit overwhelmed.

Meanwhile, Li Xi continued to smile cheerfully, “Now we’re all merfolk.”

He refused to leave Duan Zhen alone, and his fishtail always seemed to lean towards Duan Zhen’s side, trying to wrap around him. Pretending to be surprised, Li Xi said, “Oh, my tail seems to have a mind of its own. It really seems to like you.”

The sea god quickly glanced at them, barely able to look.

Mermaids’ tails weren’t meant to be casually touched, and Li Xi’s behavior of deliberately wrapping around Duan Zhen’s tail was blatantly indecent.

However, Li Xi was taking advantage of the fact that Duan Zhen had just become a merman and hadn’t yet adjusted. But with Li Xi’s appearance and status as the Demon King, being with an ordinary human might not necessarily disadvantage him.

The sea god averted his gaze, calculating the time, then threw light spheres into the bodies of the four people, causing their figures to disappear instantly.

He didn’t want to watch the Demon King flaunt his affection here.

Li Xi, on the other hand, didn’t care. He continued trying to wrap his tail around Duan Zhen. After a moment of resistance, Duan Zhen finally reacted, reaching out and lightly tapping Li Xi’s forehead, “Stop fooling around!”

Li Xi covered his forehead in a pout, pretending to be hurt, “Ouch, it hurts.”

Concerned, Duan Zhen moved closer, removing Li Xi’s hand and gently touching the spot he tapped earlier, “It doesn’t seem to be a big deal.”

Suppressing his laughter, Li Xi suddenly rushed into Duan Zhen’s arms, his tail agilely wrapping around him, “You’ve been tricked.”

Before Duan Zhen could respond, Li Xi continued with a smirk, “We’re practically mating now, Duan Duan, you have to take responsibility for me.”

Duan Zhen: ?

Duan Zhen: !!!

Immediately, he pulled Li Xi away, his brows furrowing deeply, “Don’t talk nonsense.”

Li Xi didn’t care at all, “I’m not talking nonsense. Our tails intertwined, so technically, we’ve mated.”

He was twisting the concept, still clinging to Duan Zhen’s arm with a pitiful expression, “Duan Duan, you wouldn’t deny it, would you?”

Duan Zhen pinched his cheek and pulled it away, “So what if I deny it?”

“In that case, I’ll go back and tell them that Duan Duan is a scoundrel who starts things but doesn’t finish them,” Li Xi sniffled.

This time, Duan Zhen knew he was acting, unable to help but sigh, “You…”

For a moment, he didn’t know what to say.

Just then, the other four people finally transformed into merfolk, lying limply in the water, clearly having experienced considerable pain.

With all the humans gone, their mission was considered complete. Before leaving the world, they could distinctly feel energy being drained from their bodies, and their fish tails reverted to legs once again.

In a flash of light, everyone disappeared from the spot.

Seizing the opportunity, Li Xi slightly altered his face to appear twenty years old.

He had originally intended to pretend to be weak and lean on Duan Zhen, but as soon as they returned to the rest area, he felt a force pressing in on him from all sides – it was the system!

Realizing that the main system had likely detected his frequent visits to the world, a dark glint flashed in Li Xi’s eyes. He released Duan Zhen’s hand, blinked innocently, and put on a deliberately guilty expression, “I have something to do, Duan Duan, I’ll go back to my room first.”

Duan Zhen thought he was just feeling embarrassed about what happened earlier and didn’t think much of it.

Welp….That ended without much trouble lmao we didn’t even see the lil octopus again :’c The world didn’t feel much “horror-y” overall tho!
