Time passed slowly in the room as the group sat together, quietly listening to the occasional roar of monsters outside.

“Have some food,” Xia Qirong took out several packs of compressed biscuits and handed them to the others.

“What’s this?” Li Xi curiously took a pack and bit into it, looking somewhat intrigued. “The taste is quite ordinary.”

“This is something that can quickly fill your stomach, so naturally it’s not tasty,” Xia Qirong waved his hand. “Anyway, someone like you probably hasn’t eaten this before.”

“You’re right, but this taste seems somewhat familiar,” Li Xi pondered for a moment, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t recall where he had tasted it before.

That memory seemed to be shrouded in thick fog.

Duan Zhen’s expression became slightly complicated, and he suddenly changed the subject. “I saw your account books in the study yesterday. There were huge expenses incurred in the past few months, seemingly to search for Senafel.”

“That’s true, what about it?” Li Xi asked.

“Can you tell me what happened?” Duan Zhen asked bluntly. “You said your eyes are Senafel, so what about your original eyes?”

“My original eyes?” Li Xi was taken aback for a moment, then burst into laughter. “It’s been a long time since someone dared to ask me so directly.”

“Did it remind you of something bad?” Duan Zhen paused. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s not a big deal,” Li Xi said with a smile. “I forgive you.”

Then he continued, “As for the matter of my eyes, it’s not that I can’t tell you, it’s just a somewhat embarrassing dark history that I’d rather not talk about.”

At this moment, Xia Qirong suddenly interjected, “It’s okay, we won’t laugh at you. Can you overcome it?”

Li Xi glanced at him. Although his expression seemed calm, Xia Qirong remained silent, not daring to speak again.

With the memories of Senafel, Li Xiao Xi suddenly became fierce.

But Li Xi didn’t say anything. Instead, he continued to address Duan Zhen, “Seeing how cute you are, it’s okay to tell you.”

The people present felt inexplicable, both incredulous and somewhat amused at Duan Zhen being called cute. They secretly glanced at Duan Zhen’s expression and found that he remained calm, as if he hadn’t heard anything just now.

Indeed, he was truly “Brother Duan”!

Li Xi didn’t feel like he had just shocked everyone with his words. His gaze suddenly became distant, as if he was recalling something. But that hint of nostalgia only appeared on his face for a second before quickly returning to his smiling demeanor. “You all should know that I am the eldest son of the Duke’s family. Oh, and the Hewlett from yesterday was an impostor, so you don’t have to worry about him.”

After a pause, he continued, “Although the Duke holds a high position in the kingdom, he also has many enemies. Plus, my father once helped the royal family in battle and had considerable strength himself. After the war was over, he was feared by the royal family and was not only banished to this land but also constantly monitored by the royal family. My father is a very sentimental person. He is loyal to the king, often sighing about our current situation, but also understanding the king’s actions… Oh, I’m digressing. As for my eyes, they were gouged out during a kidnapping in the past.”

He spoke nonchalantly, but everyone in the room got goosebumps.

“Gouged out?” Xia Qirong gasped, rubbing his arms. “Aren’t you the Duke’s eldest son? How could you be kidnapped and have your eyes gouged out? Weren’t they afraid of retaliation from your father?”

“They were just a bunch of rabble, later wiped out by my father,” Li Xi said with a smile.

Although he only said two sentences, everyone present was not foolish and could hear the twists and turns in his words. Li Xi’s father was a powerful duke, and Li Xi himself could become a demon king, indicating that he was not weak. How could he be kidnapped and have his eyes gouged out by a bunch of rabble?

Combine that with what he said before about the kingdom’s fear…

Duan Zhen suddenly asked, “Were you very talented back then?”

“Just average,” Li Xi waved his hand. “Although I was famous in the kingdom, the minstrels mostly sang about my beauty.”

He sighed, “The pearl is covered in dust, surrounded by a bunch of people with only eyes.”

Duan Zhen asked, “What happened later? Since it’s the time when you were blinded, your father had already found Senafel for you. If he has already found him, why is he still outside?”

He asked too directly, and the others were worried that he would anger Li Xi, so they subtly adjusted their sitting positions.

However, Li Xi showed no sign of annoyance. His gaze fell on Duan Zhen’s face. “Later, because the legendary gemstone was found but not handed over to the country, the king was furious and ordered him to come to the capital to accept punishment.”

“Isn’t that too much!” Xia Qirong murmured.

“Indeed, it’s excessive,” Li Xi nodded in agreement. “So I killed them all.”

He looked at the stunned expressions of the others, then gently opened the curtain and looked outside. His voice was soft. “This is my heart’s demon land. Since this city was burned down, I haven’t seen it so lively.”

The others dared not ask further, afraid that Li Xi, with memories of Senafel, would turn on them.

Duan Zhen looked at Li Xi’s profile. Li Xi seemed expressionless, but Duan Zhen could sense Li Xi’s sadness.

He stood up and walked to Li Xi’s side, hesitated for a moment, then placed his hand on Li Xi’s shoulder.

The young man’s shoulder was thin and weak, with prominent bones, and felt familiarly cold to Duan Zhen’s touch. He whispered, “Did this incident make you become the Demon King?”

“Yeah,” Li Xi blinked. “Do you think I did wrong?”

Duan Zhen furrowed his brows and thought for a moment. “From my perspective, your actions may be considered somewhat extreme, but I don’t think you were necessarily wrong. At that time, you were still a child, and both your family and yourself suffered greatly because of those events. Your actions are understandable.”

He lowered his head and met Li Xi’s gaze. It seemed like the first time Li Xi had heard this perspective. Li Xi’s eyes widened, looking like a harmless little rabbit.

Duan Zhen couldn’t help but reach out and gently touch his head.

The strands of hair were soft and fine, just like he remembered. He realized that even if Li Xi was Senafel, he had found some justification for him. He couldn’t blame a teenager who had been forced into darkness.

Of course, the fact that this game had led to the deaths of too many people was still a thorn in Duan Zhen’s heart. If possible, he would prefer that Li Xi’s misfortune this time was just bad luck, and that he had been indoctrinated with memories of Senafel by the world.

As they gazed deeply into each other’s eyes, one of the rescued players suddenly spoke up, as if he had just figured out the situation. “So, you are Senafel?”

He looked terrified and flustered, because he was surrounded by companions, but he managed to calm down by clutching his pants.

This was the world of Hewlett, how could Senafel appear here? And looking at the calm expressions of Li Xi and the others, it seemed like they were not surprised at all, nor did they show any reverence for the Demon King.

Sun Le pulled him aside, shook his head, and pointed to the smart bracelet on his wrist.

The player didn’t understand at first, but then he saw that Li Xi also had a similar bracelet on his wrist and suddenly realized. The panic in his expression diminished somewhat.

He had also heard of role-playing games before, and he guessed that this person was a member of Duan Zhen’s team, but this time, he had been unlucky enough to be caught by the will of the world.

Li Xi had originally wanted to enjoy his fear, but he didn’t expect him to return to normal so quickly. He didn’t miss Sun Le’s gesture and looked down at his own wrist, but there was nothing there.

Was it some kind of signal unique to that group of people? Li Xi tilted his head in confusion, but since he couldn’t figure it out, he didn’t dwell on it and instead turned back to continue staring at Duan Zhen.

Duan Zhen looked puzzled. “What’s wrong?”

“I find you interesting,” Li Xi said with a smile. “Really, you’re the first one to say something like that instead of telling me to die or praising me.”

He leaned in slightly. “You’re so different from others, and every word you say makes me happy. Did you deliberately study me?”

Duan Zhen was slightly stunned. “I just stated my opinion.”

And subconsciously comforted the other person because he didn’t want to see Li Xi sad.

“Oh, by the way, the Hewlett you mentioned is also a Demon King, right?” he awkwardly changed the subject.

Li Xi blinked. “Yeah, our relationship is okay. He probably came over to play.”

“Shouldn’t a good relationship mean he would come to rescue you?” Xia Qirong asked quickly.

“Our relationship being good means that in situations like this, he won’t stab me in the back,” Li Xi said indifferently. “We’re both Demon Kings, how good can our relationship be? He and I have an okay relationship just because we’re both human.”

“Other Demon Kings aren’t human?” Xia Qirong was startled.

“Are you guys from some remote village?” Li Xi was puzzled, but out of consideration for Duan Zhen’s face, he explained, “The Twins’ experience is similar to mine, but they made contracts with demons and later turned into demons themselves. Clemens is a vampire, and his favorite food is human blood… However, I heard that although he is not afraid of sunlight and holy water because he has lived for so long, his weakness is a certain type of human blood.”

His smile became sinister. “A guy who drinks human blood, but whose weakness is also human blood, how interesting.”

Li Xi seemed to dislike the other person very much, and Duan Zhen’s expression became even more complex.

The others didn’t know that he had encountered Clemens with Li Xi before. Sun Le, who had been silent all along, suddenly said, “Do you have the possibility of cooperating with other Demon Kings to hold a game in the future?”

“A game?” Li Xi frowned. “Can’t we just fight when we gather together? ”

As he spoke, he furrowed his brow tightly and pressed his temple with his fingers.

He felt… like he had forgotten something.

Some unfamiliar memories flashed through his mind.
