Chapter hundred and eleven: The seer 2

Jamie couldn't stop tapping her hand on her thigh in excitement. Semeen walked ahead of them while she walked more slowly in a laid back fashion with her husband.

(What is going on, Alexander?) Even his wolf was restless and Alexander wanted to yell at his wolf to shut up especially now that there was a possibility Jamie could hear them.

Jamie turned and asked him "Why are you asking yourself what is going on? We won and you lost, your highness" Jamie reminded him and once again her face lit up with smiles like she was a little girl in a dressmaker's shop. It wasn't an accurate description, Jamie had never been particularly excited about dress. So, she was as happy as she could be in a room filled with weapons.

"I know you won, darling. And since we are so close to the house, do you want to go ahead and tell Rosemund of your victory"

Jamie accepted. She knew deep down that if she stayed with Alexander for long, he would say something or do something to make her less happy and steal her thunder. But not today! Not on the greatest day of her life since she came to the West.

Jamie walked ahead to find her sister in law and break the news to her even though there was a possibility of Rosemund with her white pale nose making fun of her.

As she walked past Semeen, he heard Alexander ask the girl to come. They had an important housing matter to talk about. Jamie just kept walking.

Rosemund was talking to two girls about thirteen and fifteen years old when she saw Jamie coming towards her. She quickly dismissed the wolves to talk to her brother's wife.

"Your majesty, you made us worry about your safety when you disappeared without notice"

"I apologize, Sister"

Rosemund was taken aback. Since when did Jamie start calling her sister? It made Rosemund nervous and strangely uncomfortable. She always preferred it when Jamie was a stranger. That way it was easier to hate her without proper reason.

"You look happy" Rosemund commented as they started walking down towards the river.

"I am happy, Crown princess. I just won my first fight against a grown man. I am quite pleased with myself" Jamie agreed with her.

"Do tell, Queen Janessa. Who did you fight?"

"My husband...and I won, by the way. I feel it's fair I should mention Semeen and I won against the king" Jamie smiled deeply.

Then she waited for it, she waited for the disapproval and the reproach that always seemed to be emanating from the princess but none came. It was quite the opposite.

"Good, it's about time someone defeated Alexander. Congratulations, Janessa"

It was the first time Rosemund called her by her name without title.

"Thank you, Rosemund" Jamie returned the favor

"I also want to say thank you for coming with Alexander to see the blind boy. It means a lot to him"

Jamie was genuinely surprised. The day couldn't get any better.

****

Alexander spoke in whispers. His father once told him that trees had eyes and ears, no-one knows who was watching.

"Can this be possible? How can a human connect with our minds?" Alexander spoke out loud.

For the first time in a long while his wolf was panicked too. Max had no idea how to feel about it. The mind link had always been a special thing. A sacred place to connect with his kind but now a human girl can let herself in without permission.

(I don't know. It first happened the first time I hit her and she spat out blood) Semeen told both of them. Her wolf was nervous too, Semeen could feel it.

(The first time we fully emerged, she was bleeding!) Alexander pointed out before he turned to Semeen to say "Why would you hit her so hard as to draw blood?"

(It was a fight, Alpha. The Luna gave as much as she received) Semeen tried to defend her actions.

(Alexander, it was a fight. And she is Luna. She should be able to hold her own in a fight. She defeated you, remember? Can we get back to what's important?) Max advised.

(We all agree it has something to do with her blood. She has the ability to merge us, make me wolf out even if it isn't the full moon and now, she can link herself to our minds) Alexander believed in listing his problems to make them smaller yet it seemed overwhelming.

(We should get back to the camp, immediately. They are about a dozen wolves out there and the Queen has the ability to connect to their minds!) Semeen suddenly reminded herself and everyone else.

Alexander raced towards the camp. If Jamie found out his secret then he was done even before he had a chance to build a life with her.

When Alexander got to the camp. Jamie was talking to some of the cubs.

Alexander quickly dismissed them.

"When you fell on the ground, did I hurt you too badly?" Jamie asked the king.

"You are not concerned about me, you just want to remind me that you won again and I lost" Alexander raised an eyebrow.

"You are right. I won and you lost" Jamie taunted him playfully.

Alexander watched her closely "I have never seen you so happy before. You really like fighting that much?"

Jamie had a faraway look in her eyes. Like she was staring right into a desire. "Yes, I am born to be a warrior...a knight. I was really sure of it like I could feel it in my bones. I guess I was wrong. There is nothing special about me. I am not what I thought I would be. I am just.... ordinary"

Alexander wanted to remind her she was the most powerful female monarch in Derkal but he knew it wasn't what Jamie wanted. She wanted something different until he came along and changed the plan.

He clasped his hands over hers "You are not ordinary. You have no idea how extraordinary you are, Jamie of Namura. If you want to be a warrior, I won't stand in your way. I will teach you"

Jamie loved it that he shortened her name and he called her by her original kingdom, Namura.

"You are right. I am Jamie of Namura. But don't forget I am also Janessa of Aradale. I can be both, Alexander"

Alexander kissed her without warning. Jamie didn't resist. Jamie felt the anger in her slip away. If he helped her be a great warrior then it was the greatest gift, he could give her.

When Alexander finally pulled away, he grabbed her hand and pulled her up.

"Come on, let's go see the blind boy"

Jamie walked with the King to the place where the little blind boy called Toni was. Even though Jamie wondered what was so special about the little boy that the king of the West wanted to make the introductions....She wondered but she didn't say anything about it.

They came across a little cottage constructed out of woods and twines, Jamie knew it was new since she had been to that part of Lady Lucinda May's house before and it wasn't there.

Alexander entered before her and Jamie followed right behind him.

The blind boy was really a lad barely eleven years of age. He was clearly different from anyone Jamie had ever seen before. He had markings on his body made of chalk. And he stared right into a person even though Alexander reassured her that he couldn't see her. Jamie felt uneasy around him.

"Toni, I am Alexander of Aradale, King of Aradale and over the western hemisphere. With me is my Queen, Janessa"

The boy smiled like it was his greatest honor to be in the presence of royalties. He nodded to them and pointed to a seat.

Jamie took the only stool while Alexander stood beside her.

Toni opened his palm and moved it towards Jamie.

"May I have the honor of holding your hand, your majesty?"

Jamie instinctively looked at Alexander. She had no idea why she needed him to tell her it was alright to give her hand to Toni but she did.

Alexander nodded and spare a small smile.

Slowly, Jamie placed her hand on Toni's open palm, then she felt it. She felt his body suddenly become tensed like he was experiencing shock.

Then she saw it. She saw Toni as a little toddler inside a basket with blood stained blanket surrounded by wolves. Jamie cried out in shock when she thought the Wolves were going to harm the toddler but one wolf fend them off and sniffs the child.

Alexander was startled when his wife cried out in fear. He was going to take her away from Toni when Janessa gasped and took her hand away, even the blind boy was surprised and strangely terrified.

She flew into Alexander's outstretched arms for comfort.

"What is it, darling?"

"I...I ..he...he" Jamie couldn't form a word.

"Come on, Monisha. Tell me"

Jamie pointed to the blind boy.

"You! You were raised by Wolves!"
