Chapter hundred and thirty: Jamie sees it all.

Jamie wondered how long she has seen this particular memory.

She saw a red haired man with a black haired lady and they were intimate with each other. Jamie recognized the woman from the portrait she kept as a child. The woman was her mother, Queen Lisabeth but the identity of the man puzzled her.

She could see everything like she was there when it happened. But that couldn't be possible; she was only a few weeks old when her mother was banished from Namura. She doesn't remember anything about her except from the story Elliott told them. Even Bella was too young to remember except for the occasional flashes of a black haired woman tickling her cheek.

Jamie watched as her mother who looked just a few years older than her bid goodbye bye to the red haired man. Jamie felt her sorrow as he fled on a horse. Then she saw her mother in labor and it was a difficult childbirth. Jamie saw dark lines on her mother's abdomen and face then the midwife delivered a baby.

"It is a girl, your majesty. We have another Princess"

The midwife placed the infant on her chest and Jamie saw the horror of her mother's face when she saw the child's hair and the rage on her father's face. The infant's hair was red and the infant was Jamie.

Jamie wanted to follow King Jared out but suddenly she was surrounded by water and she was submerged almost immediately. She stayed under the water for a moment, she refused to fight it but then someone grabbed her neck and without thinking she started fighting.

Her hand grabbed the offender's hand and she was pulled into their memory.

What the bloody hell?!

Rosemund watched as the previously mentally dead Queen pushed her off and emerged from the cold wooden tub with a gasp.

Jamie stared at the ceiling as she yelled as loud as she could "I am not my father's daughter!"

Rosemund stared at her in triumph. "Welcome back, Janessa"

Jamie felt the chills to her bones. She was visibly shaking.

Rosemund took the small bucket by the corner and started draining the ice water. She proceeded to pull the hot water but it was fruitless, it was already cold.

Rosemund wrapped her hands around Jamie waist and pulled her out of it, pouring water all over the room.

Jamie didn't resist when she pulled her towards the chamber and left her on the floor. She took the blanket and started wrapping Jamie's naked body with it until she was completely covered. Jamie shook with tremor like a leave during a wind.

"You tried to kill me, Rosemund!" Jamie yelled as soon as her teeth unclenched.

Rosemund shrugged "That is one way to put it!"

Rosemund shoveled firewood into the fire place and tried to ignite it.

"What other way can I see it except you tried to drown me?" Jamie asked. she was obviously angry.

"I woke you up. You are welcome" Rosemund was shaking herself. Her clothes were wet too from fighting to keep Jamie underwater.

"Taking a brief nap after falling on my face during your breakfast with the duke in the garden is hardly something to deserve drowning" Jamie yelled at her.

Rosemund stopped what she was doing and looked at her. And for the first time, Jamie saw compassion on Rosemund's face.

"Jamie, that was two weeks ago"

Jamie looked surprised. It made sense why she kept seeing her father's memory over and over again. She was trapped inside her mind...for two weeks.

"I am still not going to thank you for trying to kill me" Jamie murmured.

Rosemund smiled brightly. "You are really back. My brother would be pleased"

Rosemund headed for the door. She needed to tell Alexander that his wife was going to be alright.

"Hmm, Jamie...can we keep the fact that I tried to drown you from my brother?" Rosemund waited patiently for her to answer.

Jamie's gave it a thought. Rosemund did save her from the place she trapped herself, she owe her.

"I won't tell him"

Rosemund opened the door and fled. She paid no attention to the cold biting air that made her lungs burn. She simply grabbed her wet dress and raced to her brother's chamber.

Rosemund forgot to knock and pushed the door open.

Alexander covered his eyes as soon as his door opened and his semi insane sister entered. He was lying on the bed when Rosemund entered.

"Do we need to have the conversation about knocking and waiting to be asked inside before barging in on me?" Alexander rubbed his face. He was exhausted.

"I apologize, Milord but...but your wife is awake" Rosemund was breathing so fast.

"Rose, she was awake when I left a hour ago" Alexander's voice was grumpy.

"No, Xander! Janessa is talking!" Rosemund smiled brightly "She is... awake"

Alexander stood up with so much force that even the bed was rattled.

"You better not be joking with me, Rosemund" Alexander's brow's was furrowed and his lips tightly pressed together.

"I am not. I woke your sleeping beauty"

Alexander reached for his shoes and wore it under a minute. He grabbed his sister and kissed her cheek.

"You are a mess, Rosie. You must be freezing!"

"I am. And unfortunately, so is Jamie. Just go...I will head to my bedchamber and change my clothes"

Alexander didn't hesitate as he opened the door and walked out.

Soon, he was barging into Jamie's room too. He froze momentarily when he saw her on the ground wrapped like picnic bread.

"Janessa, are you alright?"

Alexander picked her up and placed her on the bed. She opened the wardrobe and took out more blankets. He covered her up and started the fire.

"You must be freezing!" Alexander made sure the room was warm enough before he stopped for a moment. He realized that she hasn't said anything to him yet.

"Was Rosemund playing a horrible joke when she said that you were awake?" Alexander waited to hear her talk but no sound came out. He exhaled in resignation.

"You look different" Jamie voice was almost a whisper. For someone reason, she was nervous around him.

The possibility that Alexander doesn't feel anything for her wasn't a path she was willing to go down. There was a possibility that she stayed in her head because she couldn't face the reality that she had lost yet another important man in her life. The lost of King Jared was enough loss as it is without the realization that Alexander was gone too.

Alexander heard the whisper and good lord! He chuckled and the relief that flooded him almost made his knees weak.

He urged his feet to move closer as he tried to stop his eyes from producing ridiculous tears of joy. The idea that he was never going to hear her voice again made him cringe and the fact that she must think that he hated her was almost as painful as losing his mother.

It was simply unbearable.

"It's must be the beard" Alexander answered as he sat on the bed afraid to touch her.

He was afraid she was going to disintegrate and disappear into thin air. He was afraid that he went to bed in his bedchamber and everything that happened in the last twenty minutes was just a dream...a beautiful dream.

"I know you must hate me, Alexander..." Jamie started.

"I don't hate you, Sweetheart. It quite the opposite actually… Don't get me wrong, there were times I want to hate you but even when I tried, it turned out that I couldn't"

Jamie parted her shaky lips and let out a breath. "What are you saying to me?"

Jamie wondered if she was back in her head and this moment was imagined.

Letting out of a pent up breath that Jamie didn't know she was holding in, she waited patiently for Alexander to say what he meant.

Alexander decided to risk it. He moved closer and touched her chin.

He then cupped her cheek tenderly. Jamie closed her eyes briefly and tilted her head to rest on his palm. Tears were beginning to form on her eyes; it would be a shame if she started brawling right before she heard what she wanted to hear.

Alexander stared at her. He couldn't take his eyes off.

"What are you saying, Alexander?" Jamie asked him.

This was the moment for Alexander. The day he loses her forever or the day she becomes his, forever.

"What I am saying is that I love you, Jamie. I think I loved you the first time I set my eyes on you. I think I am going to love you forever. I know how that sounds and you might want to run to the opposite...."

Jamie wanted to wrap her arms around him but she couldn't, Rosemund idea of keeping her warm made it impossible. So she simply pulled closer and gently placed her mouth on his.

Alexander was surprised. He half expected a different reaction but she was kissing him. Jamie pulled away with a huge smile.

"Good lord! Today is unexpected. Imagine the ridiculousness of it all" Jamie told him.

"What do you mean, darling?"

"Can you imagine that when I touched your sister, I saw you Alexander.....you were a wolf. Can you imagine the ridiculousness?"
