Chapter hundred and thirty seven: Just like a rock

Alexander looked at his Queen Luna and he saw how uneasy she was. She was taping her fingers on her thigh and she wasn't standing still. Her lips grew thin and firm in a way that she couldn't shrunk it further even if she wanted to. She was on the spot and everyone was looking at her.

Alexander pulled her aside and cupped both cheeks to force her to look at him. Jamie did but it didn't stop the cold spider like fingers from racing up and down her spine. She managed to hold his gaze.

"Talk to me, Darling. Let me in on what's on your mind" Alexander looked concerned; a tiny frown left lines on his forehead.

"I am not ready to talk to him...I just...I am not ready to face my...the King" Jamie felt the ache in her belly.

What was it telling her? That a few weeks ago, her father's arms where the safest place she could be but now....she dreaded seeing his face? She tried to ignore the ache.

Stupid ache! Choosing the most unfortunate time to appear in her life.

Stupid silly ache!

"Then we don't go...any kingdom in the eastern hemisphere will welcome us. I will send a message ahead to Narva kingdom to expect us" Alexander tried to diffuse the situation.

Jamie pushed her short hair back. Great! Now the ache had a sibling, a terrible pounding tension in her head.

"No. As much as I would like to do that, I can't. I can't leave Namura open for attack. If people finds out that Aradale wants nothing to do with Namura even though they are bonded by marriage then everyone declares war on them. And Judd needs a physician we can trust, the court physician will do just fine"

Jamie turned and spoke to Walters.

"Queen Eileen is right. My kingdom is closer. Please send word to my father and tell him of our abrupt visit. Don't worry, he can't turn away his beloved daughter and her powerful husband" Jamie added sarcastically. "Take Ursla with you"

"I can't" Ursla moved closer to Jamie "I can't because the crown prince might have set me free but the king did not. In Namura, I am a fugitive"

Jamie shifted her weight from one foot to another. "Why didn't you tell me this before?"

"I didn't want to bother you. I apologize"

"Well, guess what? I am bothered now!" Jamie snapped at her without meaning to.

Alexander rubbed her shoulder in a soothing manner so she would calm down.

"Sir Walters can go alone, Monisha. He is quite capable of doing that on his own" Alexander easily diffused the situation.

Ursla simply backed away. Jamie took a deep breath to calm herself, she knew everyone was trying to figure out what caused her sudden change in mood.

Tapping her finger on her thigh, she turned around and leaned into Alexander. His arms instinctively went around her.

"Everything will be just fine, Monisha" He tried to reassure her.

"I hope so. I am not so brave now, am I?" Jamie laughed.

Even her laughter was shaky and riddled with anxiety.

"That is very hard to imagine. You are the bravest woman I know. You are a rock" Alexander didn't let go. They might be causing a scene but he didn't care.

"I am a rock" Jamie exhaled "but don't you dare leave this rock alone with king Jared"

"I won't dream of it, sweetheart"

Eileen watched them. She's been through hell and they were behaving like they were in a private chamber not the most mysterious place in Derkal. It annoyed her.

She moved closer to them. One hand firmly placed on her waist, the gesture was more of exhaustion than anger but maybe it was both.

"Are you done with the public romance or should I wait longer to point out that my husband is almost submerged in the healing pond?"

The couple pulled apart.

"Yes. We are done" Alexander said with a bold face shamelessly.

Jamie turned around to see that Judd was almost submerged in the pond like Eileen said. She turned to Commander Blake and threw her hands in the air like she was saying 'what the bloody hell?!'

"He is a giant!" Blake said in his defense.

Jamie pulled his head out so he wouldn't drown.

Alexander came closer to them and picked him up like Blake did before and placed him over his shoulders. "Can we go, now?"

He took off first. Judd was heavier than he imagined and he hoped to get him to the canoe before his back gives out.

Soon everyone was on their way to Namura. Jamie had no idea how another carriage appeared when they got to dry land but she was grateful it did.

Soon, they were on their way to Namura. The carriage contained the Alpha and his mate, Queen Eileen and her Knight with Jamie getting increasingly nervous with each jolt. She had to send Ursla back to the West to prevent her father from killing her.

"We will be there soon enough" Jamie reassured the tired couple.

Judd stirred and muttered a word of gratitude. Eileen touched his head to check for fever but his body was cold to the touch.

Judd murmured something that Jamie couldn't make out but it was enough for Eileen to place her head on his shoulder. Judd pulled her into his chest and wrapped his cold arms around her; together they drifted off to sleep.

The lead Knight was human after all.

Soon, they were entering the gates of Namura and stepping down from the carriage. Men ran to help the injured knight but he shrugged them off. Judd didn't want to look weak in the presence of another kingdom but he did accept the help Sir Walters gave him.

Jamie came face to face with her father and brother. Her face was bland and emotionless.

"Hello, father" Jamie spoke louder than she intended it to be.

"Jamie..." King Jared came closer to hug her but she took a step back.

Her actions didn't go unnoticed. Jamie turned around and introduced her family to people with her.

"This is my husband, King Alexander of Aradale and over the western hemisphere…our esteemed guest and allies, Queen Eileen of Koi and husband, Sir Luther Judd. Everyone, this is King Jared and my brother, the crown prince"

Jamie saw as Alexander shook hands with Jared and when he got to her brother, the handshake seemed to linger. Elliott was whispering something to him before he let go. Jamie looked at Alexander but his face didn't give out any clues.

"It is also nice to meet you, brother" Alexander said in a cheerful voice.

Jamie hugged her brother and for some reason she can't fathom, he made her walk in with him instead of with Alexander.

"It's nice to see you again, Elle" Jamie murmured as she followed him without much resistance.

"You don't have to go back to him. I will protect you, Jamie" Elliott was serious as his grip increased as they walked inside the king's chamber.

"It's not what you think, Elle. I am with him on my own freewill" Jamie told him.

Elliott stopped and looked at her "Is he forcing you to say that? I will kill him"

"I would rather you don't" Jamie muttered to him but Elliott wasn't paying attention.

Jamie imagined who would win in a fight between Elliott and Alexander. Elliott had never lost a fight and Alexander never had to fight, people were too afraid to try.

She loved them both but deep down she knew Alexander would win. But she wasn't about to say that to her hot headed brother.

"I swear..."

"Elliott, do not kill my husband or I am going to hurt you...very badly. I can fight now, Elle" Jamie screamed at him.

Elliott looked puzzled. This lady in front of him didn't sound like his sister.

"O-okay, stop yelling" Elliott said in resignation as the others approached.

"Where is Bella?"

"She eloped with the duke. Father is infuriated but accepting of her decision. Father annulled her marriage to Alexander. She is next in line after me" Elliott saw the look on his sisters face and he quickly added "He was really distraught when he found out that you were gone. I had to..."

Elliott stopped talking as the rest of the crew entered the king's court. Judd and Eileen were absent.

"They are with the physician" Alexander answered the question he knew his wife was about to ask.

Alexander, Semeen and Blake sat down with everyone else. They chatted for a while like they were old friends until a maid arrived to show them to their rooms. Alexander stayed in Jamie's old room with her.

Jamie didn't fail to notice the way Elliott couldn't take his eyes off of Semeen.

Alexander looked around the barely furnished to and chuckled.

"I take it that you were not a fan of decorations as a child, darling"

"No. Fashion is boring but I did spend the better half of my childhood trying to figure out a way to leave the castle through the window" Jamie answered.

"Did you succeed?" Alexander asked her.

"No....But we will because come nightfall, we are going back to the isle of the blessed. I need to find out what I am"
