Chapter hundred and forty two: Something somewhere

Alexander walked in the hallway till he came out to the eastern wing of the castle and came face to face with Semeen. She was casually dressed like she was going for an early morning fight training.

Alexander wondered whether Semeen knew that they were still in Namura, not the west.

"Your highness" Semeen acknowledged his presence.

Alexander didn't give her much response except nodd.

"How is Luna? Is she awake yet?"

"Yes" Alexander told her.

"Thank the moon goddess. I was beginning to get worried. Did she find a cure?" Semeen was visibly relieved the queen was getting better.

"Yes, she said she did" Alexander answered.

Semeen hesitated just a little bit before she asked the next question.

"But that is great news... except you are not excited, Alpha" Semeen observed correctly.

"Something is wrong. I can feel it in my bones. My wife is not telling me something...she called me darling and she told me I was perfect just the way I am-"

"And she is right because you are perfect, Milord" Semeen interrupted him by saying which in turn made Alexander raise an eyebrow.

Semeen was embarrassed just for a moment. "I apologize, King Alexander. I shouldn't have said that to you"

"So, you are saying I am not perfect?" Alexander feigned annoyance.

"Of course not, I meant…"

"Relaxed Semeen, I was just making a terrible joke" Alexander turned around and walked to the railing and stared out over the kingdom. "Something is wrong... something is wrong, Semeen. Janessa is never that nice to me without a reason"

"Then I believe you, Milord. What can I do to help?" Semeen asked as she approached him.

"Take care of Luna while I journey to the isle of the blessed. I need to talk to the woman in red again"

"Yes Milord" Semeen lowered her head slightly.

Alexander was halfway to the exit when he turned around to face Semeen once again.

"Get someone to send water and food to her. She is hungry"

Semeen nodded. She watched the king walk away. For a second, she wondered if someone would ever see her in the light which the king sees the queen.

Will someone ever take a look at her and know that something was wrong?

She was almost nineteen and she was yet to meet her mate.

Semeen turned around and almost bumped into the crown prince, Luna's brother.

"Lady Semeen, I see you had no intention of following up with our prior arrangement" Elliott told her.

Semeen stared at him with cold eyes. She had enough on her plate without tiptoeing around the prince.

"Something came up….I have to go" Semeen tried to leave but Elliott stopped her.

"We have plans, lady Semeen"

"And now we don't" She walked away but as soon as she turned around, she had a smile on her face.

"It's because you know I would win!" Elliott yelled after her.

Semeen stopped and turned around.

"You know I am not a Lady, right? The correct title is commander. I am commander Semeen and I will see you by the cabin in five minutes, East"

Elliott smiled "I will see you there, Aradale"

Semeen knew the prince of Namura's reputation with unwed girls, he was a well known rake and womanizer.

He enjoyed the company of women and he made no attempt to hide that disgusting fact. So it wasn't a surprise when he had invited her out for a picnic five hours after they met but Semeen had countered his offer with another one - a fight, winner gets all the power. Semeen knew that men always take a step back whenever challenged to a fight by a girl and she expected him to back off, decline her offer with a stupid reason but he didn't.

At first, Elliott was taken aback. He thought his sister was the only weird woman in the world and Semeen was even more surprised when he accepted to fight her without hesitation.

"Really?" She had queried him

"Why not? If I win I want that picnic with you and I want a chance to get to know you" Elliott had answered.

Semeen liked that he didn't use words like when he wins "Good thing you won't, his royal highness. So, not only will you not get everything you just mention but you will be my chore lad for a week in Aradale"

Elliott brought out his hand for a shake "We have a contract, lady Semeen"

Now, Elliott was watching her walk away to reconvene in five minutes.

May the best fighter win.

Alexander made it all the way to the front of the castle before he realized that he had no knowledge whatsoever where king Jared's stable was. He was about to call on the guard that stood like a statue by the side when he came face to face with a familiar face. A face he wasn't ready to face just yet.

"Your highness"

"Princess Arabella!" Alexander froze for a second.

She was just as he remembered, so beautiful and distant. Her beauty was still so fragile that Alexander still reckoned that a little scream would send her running or in tears.

But something was different about her, Alexander watched her keenly and then he realized that she was lighter on her feet like the weight of the world that was formerly on her shoulders had been lifted.

Good for her.

"I came to see my sister and you..but I was hoping it would be in a more controlled area when I have figured out exactly what to say to you, King Alexander" Arabella spoke boldly to him.

Alexander's suspicion was right. Arabella wasn't the same. This was officially the longest conversation they have ever had since the beginning.

"But you may as well improvise, Milady" Alexander told her.

Arabella starred deep into his eyes "My father might be the spawn of the devil but you are no different, King Alexander. You are a bully and a brute who not only failed in your duties as a human being, you failed as a husband too. For a split second when I was in captivity, I thought you would rescue me... imagine my disappointment when I was finally set free to find out you never bothered to look for me. You destroyed my reputation and you kidnapped my sister-"

"Arabella, I am-"

"I am not done yet, Alexander"

Alexander nodded and he was quiet. Arabella had a glimmer of tears in her eyes like she was fighting to keep her tears inside.

"For the longest time, I tried not to get angry at you...angry at my excuse of a father but I am angry" Arabella blinked and took away her gaze for a second before she returned it.

"But my sister seems to think of you in another light. She thinks you are the greatest man to ever walk the earth and Elliot told me how you rescued her from the bandits and you punished them for hurting my little sister. So, maybe you are not all that bad. Maybe, I will tolerate you and accept you into my family... brother"

Arabella exhaled sharply, she could feel the nervousness slip from her body. She said her piece and now, she won't have to hold it back inside.

"I am done. Now, you can talk, King Alexander"

Arabella expected him to make a speech about how she had no right to talk to him in that manner and tell her how easy it would be to erase her from the face of the earth. Bella knew that the Alexander she knew was capable of doing that.

"I am sorry for what happened to you, Arabella" Alexander's voice was sincere.

His answer surprised Arabella so much that she let out a quivering breath as she felt the weight of his sentence go through her.

Bella pressed her lips together to stop her lips from trembling, she finally allowed the tears to roll down her cheeks.

"Thank you. Frankly, an apology was what I was expecting. It seems childish but I just wanted someone to apologize to me because none of anything that happened was my fault. So, I deserved some bloody apology!" Arabella used the back of her hand to wipe her face and she picked up the helm of her dress and she started to walk away when Alexander spoke.

"Arabella!"

The princess turned to face him.

"Yes, your highness"

"I may have failed as a husband but I promise you, I will not fail you as a brother. And the people that hurt you, they will be punished. You have my word"

Arabella bowed to him and Alexander turned around and walked away.

He was determined to make right by Arabella, no matter what it takes.

He was almost close to the guard when he heard the sound of horses. Alexander turned to find Judd on a horse holding another horse for him.

"Judd, what are you doing?" Alexander asked the man he knew should be resting.

"My duty, your highness"

Alexander was quiet for a moment before he asked the question that was on his mind since last night, since Walters told him that he knows his secret.

"How long have you known that I am a werewolf, Judd?"
