Chapter hundred and forty nine: Do you like me broken?"

"Come on, stand up. We need to go inside. And you need to help me up. My knee is useless because of you" Alexander told him, so he would stand up.

He needed a physician. He was in a considerable amount of pain and he needed to go back to his Kingdom and make things right.

Judd stood up from the ground he laid and dusted his clothes. He helped the king up and they started walking back to the castle.

"I will surrender myself as soon as we get Eileen's kingdom back for charges of treason against the crown" he murmured.

"Why am I not surprised that you said that? Don't bother, if you do surrender yourself, I will deny fighting you. The last thing anyone needs to know is that my little brother kicked my ass" Alexander said as he hopped on one leg.

Luther Judd didn't say anything to him. They didn't say a word to each other until he took the king to his bedchamber. The Queen wasn't there, he made sure he was comfortable because he left. He was halfway to the door when he heard Alexander's voice.

"Judd?"

"Yes, your highness"

"We will find a way" Alexander told him.

Judd turned around to look at him. His eyes are still red from his sobs.

"Find a way to do what, exactly?" The Knight asked him.

"Find a way to make it work between us. You, Rosemund and Janessa, you are about all I have as a family" Alexander told him.

Judd was unsure of what he wanted except he was uncomfortable having this conversation with the king or being referred to by the king as a younger brother.

Alexander at twenty five years old was only a couple of months older than him.

When Alexander saw that he was quiet, he didn't push it. "And get me a bloody physician and my wife"

Judd opened the door and he left.

Jamie tried to keep the emotions coursing through her to herself. She finally decided to have that conversation with her father after she ran into him a few minutes after he left Alexander and Judd fighting in the back of the castle.

King Jared approached her as she made her way to the bedchamber.

"Jamie, you can't avoid me forever"

"Hello, father" Jamie said with a straight face as she stopped to stare at him rudely.

"You didn't call me 'father' before, Jamie. You called me papa, remember?" Jared tried to touch her but she took a step back.

"Technically, you are none of those things to me" Jamie told her.

"Because you think I betrayed you?" Jared asked her.

"No, because you are not really my father, are you?" Jamie run her hand through her short red hair "it makes sense now, why you insisted I dye my hair"

Not that Jamie needed confirmation but her father's silence confirmed everything.

"You are my daughter! It doesn't matter whether I fathered you or not, Jamie. You are my daughter!"

"That would mean shit to me if you hadn't sold me out to slavery, to be a mistress to a man I didn't know. At least with your real daughter, Arabella you made sure she was Queen" Jamie turned to leave when Jared stopped her.

"I can't lose you, Jamie. Your father made a mistake, can't you forgive him?" Jared told her.

Jamie turned back around. She saw the sincerity in his voice and she wasn't immune to it but she was a naive fourteen years old doting daughter.

"You used to be my rock! The one thing I was always certain about. It's why I tried to be like you. I worshiped the ground you walked on, Papa. I kept trying to get home to you because I thought you would be distraught over my disappearance. I stopped myself from falling in love with Alexander, I took the crown princess hostage and I almost got myself killed trying to get back home to you! How dare you sell me out?! How dare you not love me as much as I love you?! How dare you become a caricature of my father? How dare you shatter me into a billion pieces?" As Jamie talked, tears streamed down her face.

Her voice was raised and her lips tightly pressed together . Her clenched fist was firmly placed by her side as she glared at her father.

When next she spoke, her voice was lower "How dare you not be who I thought you were? Stay the hell away from me!"

Jamie tried to leave again but her father grabbed her and wrapped his arms around her.

"I was wrong. I am sorry. I will do better, Jamie"

She tried to get away from him but he wouldn't let her. She struggled for a few more seconds before she wrapped her arms around him too.

"Papa" she cried as she buried her face in his chest.

"I am sorry. I am so sorry, child. Forgive your useless father. I was blinded by greed and power, Jamie. Along the way, I choose power and wealth over my children and I am sorry" King Jared kissed her hair as he tried not to cry himself.

Jamie was never his. He knew it the first time he saw her place in his arm with her slightly flat nose and red hair. He had turned his back on her and Lisabeth.

For weeks, he refused to see her and his Queen until he woke up one morning and she was in a basket in his bedchamber.

Lisabeth had left her there and ran away to find her lover.

At first, he tried to hate her. She was a constant reminder of the woman he loved and lost. A reminder of her infidelity but everytime he told a step back, she took one step forward towards him.

She would cry for hours until he picked her up and suddenly, she was calm.

Then as soon as she could crawl, she would appear in bizarre places and she would crawl into his laps until one day, when she didn't.

King Jared realized that something was wrong. When he found her, she was sick. It was the first time she called him papa. He moved heaven and hell to get her better and when she finally got better, he dyed the only part of her that reminded him that she wasn't his to begin with.

She became his daughter and there was no looking back.

Somewhere, somehow he lost objective and he lost her.

He kissed her hair again.

Jamie pulled away from him at last.

"That I hugged you back doesn't mean that I forgive you of all your sins. But It means I am going to try to because hating you is so much harder. Hating you shattered my reality, Papa and I am going to do my best not to"

"I will do anything you want, Jamie. Just tell me how to make it easier for you" Jared asked her eagerly.

"Just do the job you signed up for. Be the father I always thought you were. Is that too much to ask?!" Jamie yelled and started walking away when she almost bumped into Luther Judd.

"Who won the fight?" Jamie asked him.

"You are crying" Judd observed.

"I am guessing that you were too, your eyes are as red as flame. I am sorry about your father" Jamie hugged him without thinking.

She was a mess because her father betrayed her but as much as she was angry at Jared, she would be in a bigger pain if he died.

Judd froze. He wasn't used to getting so much attention from people before. He hated attention. He tapped her back twice awkwardly, no one taught him how to react when the queen of his hemisphere hugs him. He pulled away after three seconds.

"I broke the king's leg!" He blurted out almost immediately.

"You did what?!" Jamie yelled at him.

Judd was about to explain when he felt the Queen's fist on his abdomen, the punch was stronger than he expected from her.

Jamie picked up the helm of her dress.

"There is no way my husband killed your father without reason. I refuse to believe that Alexander is capable of such monstrosity" Jamie spoke angrily without giving Judd the time to explain.

She took off towards her bedchamber to be with her husband.

Judd exhaled. His life was about to get more complicated. He made his way to the room he shared with Eileen. He was half expecting her to be absent. It would be easier to slip into bed and cry some more without disturbance.

When he opened the door and stepped inside, Eileen was sitting on the stool near the table.

He sat down on the bed. For a moment he didn't say anything to her.

Eileen watched him through the mirror beside her. Something was different.

"I see you and the king finally finished your fight. When is your execution? Because if you are as stupid as to attack a king-" Eileen was interrupted by Judd.

"Alexander killed my father because he was trying to kill me"

Eileen turned around with curious eyes. Did Luther Judd just share information about himself with her? She watched him. He was in pain.

She went closer to him and stood before him. She was so close that he placed his head on her belly for comfort.

"Do you like me better, broken?" Judd asked her as he wrapped his arm around her waist and he cried again.
