Alexander went back and mounted his horse. His expression was grim and his eyes clear as day. He sat upright and stared ahead to Koi like her soldiers could see him.
After a brief moment, he closed his eyes temporarily and yawned. Why would Judd give those idiots an hour? Now, he would have to sit here with an angry or better still a neutral expression even when the voice in his head was beginning to whisper during the day too.
He lied to Rosemund. He didn't have years. He had a month or at most, two months.
(Maybe we should listen to the woman in Red. We can be separated, Alexander and you will be alright)
(Are you trying to get rid of me, Max?) Alexander had a raised eyebrow.
(I am looking out for you. There is no need for you to suffer alongside myself, human)
(Would you save yourself and condemn me if the case was revised, Max?)
Alexander wanted to hear from his Wolf but Max was quiet. His silence was enough for Alexander.
(If you can't do it then why should I?)
After Alexander told him that, he was quiet too for a while.
In his predicament, there was no scenario where winning was possible. He either loses himself or someone he loves dearly like his wife or his wolf.
(Max…. everything will be alright)
Max grunted. Maybe it was time to start telling each other the truth, lying and pretending everything was alright was not getting them anywhere.

Alexander watched his environment for a second. He knew it's been ten minutes already. Luther was absent from his side and that didn't go without people noticing it.
"Where is the lead knight, your highness?" Sir Walters asked the king after he looked around.
"The wolves got him, do you want to join him for asking me unnecessary questions?" Alexander saw the way most of his knights were looking at him.
Sir Walters didn't say anything. He simply stood there and watched the king. His loyalty was to the crown but Judd was his friend and he didn't have to pretend that he liked what the king was doing.
"Sir Derrick, you are in charge of my Army" Alexander completely passed over Walters to give authority to the third in line.
"But my Lord, I am next in line to be lead knight after Sir Judd" Sir Walters complained.
"Exactly, if I can't trust Judd to obey me then something tells me you two belong together. Get lost, Sir Walters"
Sir Walters was confused, he turned and he walked away. The king was acting strange and Sir Judd would never disobey the king even if his life was on the line.
Something was wrong somewhere.
Sir Walters made it down to the tree line and he stopped when he saw Judd waving him down.
As soon as he came down from the horse, he approached the lead knight who was currently not acting like himself.
"Sir Judd, what is going…"
"What took you so long? We have less than forty minutes to attack" Judd turned around and walked deeper into the forest.
Walters was even more confused but it didn't stop him from following Luther until he came to a spot where he stopped.
"What is wrong with you? We can't abandon our king because he is having a bad day, Sir Judd. We need to go back and fight for him" Sir Walters voiced out his opinion.
He never thought there would come a time when he would be the one reminding the lead knight of his knightly oath, an oath every knight takes before taking up the shield and responsibilities.
Now, he was looking at Judd, a man known for his blantant disregard for anything or anyone that stand against him and his duty to the crown, and he wasn't acting like himself. It was strange and it made Walters uncomfortable.
He looked around the deserted forest. He hated what was happening just as much as he hated that he was allergic to stupidity and disobedience.
But he was ready to let it play out to some extent before he turned around and went back to the king.
"I am not abandoning the king" Sir Walters said and turned around to leave.
"Who said anything about abandoning my brother?"
Walters turned immediately to the sound of the voice.
"Your royal highness!" He was surprised to see the crown princess with about three dozen people. He only recognizes a few - Semeen, Blake and Ursla.
"What is going on here?" Walters asked no one in particular.
"I am leading as Alpha in my brother's absence. Sir Walter, meet my pack, the crescent western pack…. everyone, meet Walters, his an ally"
Sir Walters blinked. There were more of them? Wait! Was Ursla a wolf too?
"Ursla is a wolf?"
"No, I am human but I tend to go wherever the queen go" Ursla answered with a chuckle.
"The Queen is here too" Walters asked with a surprised face.
Ursla and Rosemund pointed to a particular tree behind Walter and he turned around abruptly to see Jamie on top of the tree and she was wearing pants and shirt.
He turned to Judd "Why did you let her climb up there, she could hurt herself!"
Walters tried to climb up to get Jamie down but Semeen got in his way and howled at him.
"You will not be touching our Luna without her permission and mine. Back off!"
"I would listen to them if I was you" Judd told him.
He joined Rosemund to look at the map she was holding.
"Someone, please tell me what's going on? Please" Walters begged them.
"What do you want to know?" Rosemund asked them.
"Did the king really strip you of your title as lead knight or was that a joke?"
"Well, that was real…temporarily but still real" Judd answered.
"King Jaxon of the southern hemisphere has formed an ally with the imposter on the throne to overthrown my brother. Behind the few soldiers that stands against my brother, thrice the amount is waiting to ambush them inside" Rosemund explained further.
"How do we know of this?" Walters asked them.
A man he had never seen before came forward. He was shorter than Walters but stockier. He had a split lip. And his eyes appeared like he was recovering from a black eye.
"My name is Joshua. I escaped from King Jaxon dungeon to warn the king. It was the least I could do for the king's acceptance"
Walters moved forward to stand very close to him.
"Has anyone threatened to rip off your head if it's a trap and you are actually working with King Jaxon?" Walters eyes danced with unspoken promise. He stared hard at the werewolf like he could go toe to toe with him and come back victorious.
The wolf didn't back down like Walters expected him to.
"Yes. The Alpha Princess, Luna, both commander Semeen and Blake, then the gaint threatened to rip my body apart and feed my intestines to me….and then hang me upside down...twice" Joshua answered with a straight face.
"I don't have any other thing to threaten you with…except do all those things to you all over after Judd is done with you" Sir Walters said and took a step back.
"If we are done examining who have the bigger chest, then it's time to attack. We will take this path here" Semeen pointed to the map "according to Queen Eileen, there should be a hidden door to let us inside Koi without the people we are trying to sneak up on knowing"
"I am sorry, why are you in charge when the lead Knight is here?" Walters asked Semeen.
"This is pack business, you and Judd are here out of courtesy. So, I suggest you don't interrupt me again" Semeen wasn't joking around. Her eyes shone even brighter now that her authority as second in command was being threatened.
"Let it go, Walters. We all have the same goal" Judd touched his shoulder.
Jamie came down from the tree.
"We should go" she told everyone.
"You are not going, her Majesty" Rosemund told her.
"Well, you are not going to stop me" Jamie challenged her.
"It's tactically better if you stay here, Luna. We can pass information to you to take to the king. You are the only one that can hear us via mind link" Semeen explained further.
"So can the dozen or so wolves here" Jamie told her. She was Luna and she was Queen. She was not under anybody's orders except the king's and he was absent.
"Jamie, you need to stay here with me because you still need to stop my brother from going mad. You can't do that if you are dead" Rosemund grabbed her arm roughly.
"Alpha Princess or not, I need you to take your hand away from Jamie" Ursla came closer, her hand on her sword.. She wasn't joking.
