Chapter hundred and fifty six: Let's laugh, he is dying

"Everybody, calm down!" Judd said and moved closer to stop whatever mayhem was about to happen.

He was not taking sides. Rosemund was his sister and Jamie was his sister by law.

"I am not going to die, Rosemund. It's time to live as much as I can. And living in fear is not a way to live at all. I am Queen and I am Luna and your brother is still alive, that means I don't have to answer to you. I am going"

Rosemund reluctantly let Jamie go.

Semeen looked at Jamie, if she was coming then it was only right that she takes authority.

"What are your orders, Commander?" Jamie asked her.

"Kill as much as King Jaxon men before Lunch. Let's do it!"

*

It's been two hours and Alexander made no move to attack the Koi soldiers. He simply sat there and waited for his pack to open the gate from the inside.

He saw as the leader of the Soldiers of Koi came forward to meet him and like expected he met him half way.

"After much deliberation, the queen has decided to accept your surrender, King Alexander"

The lead Knight's face was neutral like he was delivering the news because it was his duty.

He was an average man and with a goatee that made Alexander stare at him longer than usual.

"Did you hear what I just said, your highness?"

"My hearing is perfect, knight. I am just stalling" Alexander told him in a low voice.

"Stalling? I don't understand" the knight sounded even more confused.

Alexander saw the signal he instructed his pack to make to show that Koi has been secured and He smiled.

"You will understand soon enough but you should probably ask your knights to drop their weapons" Alexander said and turned around. He raced back to command his remaining Army.

The fight that ensued went on for barely thirty minutes and Alexander figured out that in a couple more minutes and he would be on his way home but then he came face to face with his sword wielding wife.

Jamie expected him to yell or try to grab her or do a thousand and one million annoying things hiding under the guise that he loved her and that his Queen had no business in going to war but he surprised her.

"In my mind, you are safely tucked away in the castle waiting for me to return and this woman that I am currently looking at, this woman that has your face is just a figment of my imagination, Monisha" At first his face was neutral and it made Jamie uneasy.

But then he smiled "On the other hand, I will say good for you"

Jamie left his side to fight more people while Alexander fought the urge to go after her. The decision was made for him when he saw an arrow handed for Judd's chest. He was quick on his feet and he was able to push Judd out of harm's way but it was too late to defend himself against the second arrow that followed.

"Alexander!" Jamie screamed from the place she stood while Judd stared at the king in disbelief and horror as he fell to the ground.

He stood up and took his sword and threw it at the king's attacker and it went through his chest.

He bent down to take a look at the King. He was conscious and the arrow went through his right shoulder.

"Why did you do that?!" Judd yelled at him.

"I have no idea" Alexander answered. He was amused. And Judd wanted to rip his head off.

Jamie was by his side in seconds.

"Alexander! Alexander!" She touched his hand and then his forehead.

She watched him as he slipped into unconsciousness.

Judd picked him up and carried him to a secured and secluded area while Jamie took off into the forest in search of a healing leaf.

The fight was over in minutes just like predicted.

Judd arranged for a carriage to transport the king back to the West. Commander Blake was tasked to stay behind in Koi until the return of the Queen.

Jamie came out in time to join the carriage and the king's army to match back to the West.

When she entered the carriage, Alexander was still half unconscious and Rosemund was sobbing her face off. Judd looked like he came face to face with a ghost and the ghost won.

Without saying anything to both siblings, she pulled the arrow out. She ignored the horrified look from Judd and the slap from Rosemund, as she placed the healing leaf on the injured sight.

"If you kill him…if you kill him, I will order for your execution the moment we get to Aradale!" Rosemund yelled at her.

"What is your problem?" Jamie asked the spoiled little brat. "I mean, seriously what the bloody hell is your problem? You don't like me, big deal but threaten me again and I will bash your head in!" Jamie rubbed her cheek once.

"Settle down both of you!" Judd yelled at them.

They were behaving like two adolescent girls and he was stuck in the middle.

Judd watched the king. His breathing was normal now and he stirred once before dozing off to sleep.

"If you want to blame anyone, blame me. I am his shadow and somehow, he ended up taking an arrow for me" Judd murmured.

"You are my brother too. I think I am quite comfortable putting the blame on the woman that pulled out the arrow in the first place. First, she had my brother banish lady Melvin and her daughter. They were our cousins" Rosemund said without looking at Jamie.

"They kidnapped my sister and kept her for weeks!" Jamie cried out to her.

"Your father sold you out to be a mistress and yet he is still King. Why should my cousins be treated differently?" Rosemund asked her.

"Papa made a mistake, he is trying to make amends. I am sorry you didn't have that with your father, Rosemund" Jamie's voice was mellowed and it held a glint of sincerity.

Rosemund pressed her lips tightly together after she folded her arms under her armpit.

"Don't you dare pity me!" She whispered to Jamie.

"I am not…I am just saying I understand why you are terrified of losing the only person that has loved you consistently, Rose. I know because when I lost mine, I took a break from reality and camped out in my head for two weeks. You brought me back by trying to drown me but…you brought me back" Jamie stared at Alexander's face.

She traced the tiny scar below his hairline, it was bigger before but now it was not. Alexander was healing faster because of his wolf.

Rosemund looked away. She hated that Jamie was right, hated it even more that she was agreeing with her about being right.

"I can't lose him" the princess murmured under her breath.

"You won't….I won't let him die either"

"I am not dying…just asleep which is difficult to do because both of you can't get along with each other" Alexander murmured but his eyes were still closed.

"Oh thank God" Jamie was visibly relieved and so was Rosemund.

Judd on the other hand looked pissed off.

"You can't jump in front of an arrow to save my life. It's my job to save you not the other way around"

Alexander could see the bulging lines on his forehead and the way his eyebrows kept seeking each other out, he knew he was angry but he was just too tired to care.

"Not now, Luther…I am too tired to argue and frankly I wasn't thinking when I risked my life for yours" Alexander said in a futile attempt to shut him up.

Judd was quiet. Everything Eileen told him ran through his head. Having a family was one of those things he convinced himself that he didn't need after Liam Judd.

He spent years perfecting the lone wolf persona to an extent that he had himself convinced too. But now he wasn't so sure anymore.

"I lied to you, Alexander. I want a brother. I just don't want to be King Darius' illegitimate son" Judd admitted at last.

"But instead of saying those exact words, you simply tried to convince me that you didn't want to be a part of my family. Is that not stupidity?" Alexander said and finally opened his eyes.

Judd chuckled softly. Then he laughed out loud. Somehow along the way, Alexander joined in, then Rosemund.

Jamie looked at them like the entire family had gone mad. The king called his brother stupid and they are all laughing about it like it was a big fat joke.

Jamie insisted that she was not joining in. She shook her head even when Rosemund pointed at her and laughed harder.

"She is trying not to laugh!" Judd laughed even louder

The carriage stopped and it opened, Eileen was standing at the other side with a worried expression. At first, she thought they were crying but then she understood.

"What is going on?" Eileen asked no one in particular.

"The royal family has gone mad" Jamie couldn't stop herself from laughing as Judd pulled his wife inside and buried his face in her chest as more laughter erupted through him.

Even Eileen wasn't immune.

And since she couldn't stop them…..she joined them.
