Chapter hundred and fifty seven: Shut up, you love her

A gasp escaped from Jamie's mouth. She closed her eyes and counted to three before she opened it. She thought it was over then it happened again. This time around she whimpered and a frown appeared on her face.

Alright! That was it. Jamie had had enough and it was time to say so. She turned around even though the hands that were holding her tried to prevent it.

"Heaven?" She called out softly. It wasn't because she wasn't angry. It was because it looked like her airway had been cut off.

"Just two more, your majesty and we will be done" Heaven said and turned her around.

Jamie wanted to protest but for some reason, it was much easier to turn around than struggle with Heavens.

The next time, she visibly turned red.

"Hea-ven, I can't breathe!"

"The dress won't fit! I have to make it tighter, Milady"

Jamie took a step away from Heavens and picked up the scissors. "Do not come close to me? I will defend myself"

"I have to prepare you for the ball, we don't have a lot of time, my Queen" Heaven said and tried to come closer to finish up her job but Jamie ran into the bathing room and locked the door.

Heaven banged on the door severally, she tried talking to the queen in a calm voice, to pacify her enough to dress her up but then she started hearing the sound of scissors as it tore through the most beautiful dress Heaven had ever seen. She lost it.

"Don't you hurt that dress! Open the door! Open the door!" She banged at the door even louder.

She knew from the very first day that she wasn't going to be working for a conventional Queen and it terrified her for the most part. She was taught how to handle conventional royalties, how to be quiet when they spoke to her or insult her or look at her like she was dirty. She was taught how not to stare them in the face or speak when not spoken to but nobody taught her how to handle Queen Jamie.

Heaven had to learn on her own how to drag her away from swords in time to tidy her up for royal functions.

How to accept food from Queen Jamie by sometimes eating from the same plate. How to enable her do outrageous things that would make other noble ladies blush in their dreams and hide enough of those qualities she adored in the Queen, so others can't see it.

"Please…please, open the door" she pleaded with her.

The door opened and Jamie came out holding the shredded dress.

"Sorry Heaven" Jamie murmured and placed the dress into her hand.

"It was such a beautiful dress and you destroyed it" her voice was low and sad as she ran her fingers on the dress.

"I couldn't breathe. I need new dresses. Come on, let's make a dress together" Jamie said and opened her wardrobe.

She started taking out all of her dresses from the wardrobe and she placed them on the bed.

"What are you going to do with them?" Heavens asked as a feeling of dread filled her.

"Nothing. I am giving them to you. Do you want them?" Jamie asked and looked at her.

Heaven's eyes became wider and she opened her mouth severally but she closed them right back.

"I couldn't…they are too beautiful and befitting of a Queen. I think normally, the queen's old clothes are given to noble ladies and ladies in waiting"

Jamie shrugged and looked at the dresses "Either you take them or I shred them, Heaven" she threatened.

"I will take them!" Heaven started jumping up in excitement. She thought of places she could go with those dresses and it made her jump even more. Then for a moment she lost her mind and she hugged the Queen.

She recovered quickly and she let her go.

"Sorry, I shouldn't have done that" she murmured.

"Don't worry, I hug people I am not supposed to hug too. Now, let's make me a beautiful one of a kind dress, Heaven" Jamie had a mischievous smile on her face as she raised the pair of scissors.

Alexander watched with a casual demeanor as Ginger started fixing his cuff links. He had never liked balls but he was a king and he was used to it. He had to celebrate the victory he had in Koi and officially announce that the Kingdom of Koi and the West were allies.

It would make a lot of enemies think twice before attacking her again.

There was a soft knock on the door.

"Announce yourself for my king is indecent" Ginger yelled from the spot he stood.

Alexander was almost amused by his high pitched voice and he was actually decent but Ginger always used any opportunity to demonstrate that he was the king's servant and he had authority.

"It is Luther Judd"

Ginger went to the door and opened it slightly.

"May I take a message for the King?" Ginger asked Judd.

"Let him inside, Ginger and take your leave as well" Alexander ordered him.

Ginger reluctantly left while Judd entered wearing his usual knightley uniform.

"What are you wearing?" Alexander asked him.

"My uniform" Judd answered in a way that said it was obvious.

"I can see that…why are you wearing it? We are going to a party and not war, little brother" Alexander said and tried to fix the cuff links.

"I am the king's shadow. I am always on duty" Judd answered and sat on a stool.

"You are Queen Eileen's consort, Judd. And this party is in her honor. Walters can be lead knight for today" Alexander answered and took a comb to brush his hair.

"Well, I don't go to royal balls. This is the best outfit that shows respect" Judd told him.

He wondered why he had to change. He was comfortable in this attire and that's all that matters.

"Good thing our sister knew that and like usual, she planned ahead. I swear, she is always a step ahead of everyone" Alexander said with a chuckle and pointed to a shirt and pants by the window.

"She brought it to me a while ago for you. Don't ask me how she knew you would come to my room, I have no idea" Alexander told him.

If Judd was a man that fashion interested, he would see that the outfit was simply gorgeous, it was a combination of gold and navy blue color but he wasn't.

"You can change there" Alexander pointed to his inner chamber "Do you require a servant to help you change?"

"No I can manage" Judd murmured.

Even though he picked up the outfit, he was hesitant like something was bothering him.

"What?" Alexander narrowed his eyes.

"I kissed another woman!" Judd blurted out.

Alexander tilted his head to the right. "When?" He asked Judd.

"Last week"

"Okay, this girl you kissed, do you…like her?" Alexander had never had to give a fellow man advice before or have one confined in him.

If he was Rosemund, it was simple…he would find the man and take his head off but he was Judd.

"Not really, she kissed me and I pushed her off as soon as I could but now, I can't look Eileen in the face. I think I should tell her? Should I tell her?" Judd asked him.

"You are of noble blood and a Knight, married to a Queen or not, you are allowed to take mistresses and Eileen can take lovers but you know that already. So, if you are feeling guilty about a kiss then it means one thing, Judd"

Judd came closer to the king. If he has answers then he wanted to hear it.

"What is it?" Judd asked.

"You are falling in love with your wife, my brother" Alexander said with a smile.

Judd looked like he had been told the secret of the universe, he stood still like he was in shock.

"Come on, it was bound to happen. Eileen is the most beautiful woman in Derkal, a beauty only rivaled by Princess Arabella of the east. Only a fool would not fall in love with her" Alexander said.

He was enjoying himself. He was enjoying giving advice to his brother.

"If it's beauty then you would have chosen Arabella not the queen. I am not so different from you, Alexander. I don't give a bloody hell about appearance" Judd said like he was disputing a fact.

"It doesn't matter why, Luther…you are falling in love with your wife. You should tell her how you feel" Alexander encouraged him.

Judd started to walk to the inner chamber to change but he stopped midway.

"How did you tell the queen that you loved her?" Judd asked him.

Alexander ran his hand through his hair.

"I don't think you should follow our tedious way. I mean, first Janessa held Rosemund hostage and escaped, then she was captured by the bandits. Then I killed those bandits and brought her home, she became sick and almost died before I told her that I loved her. It was a whole process"

"Did she say it back to you, Alexander?"
