Chapter one hundred and sixty two: This is not a song for the broken hearted

"Thank you, your Majesty but the West can handle her own fight. The last thing we want is for the eastern hemisphere to be attacked too. We don't want interhemispheric war on our hands and so, Queen Eileen shall return to her kingdom until otherwise stated" Alexander instructed her.

Eileen nodded.

Alexander walked out. He had to dress up before saying goodbye to his family.

Judd knew he was supposed to talk to his wife before she returned to Koi and he wasn't comfortable with leaving his wife in another kingdom with no protection at all.

He had to talk to the king about it.

When he entered into his house, Eileen was there but she refused to look at him.

"Eileen, I didn't lie"

Eileen was silent. She simply looked at him.

"I don't want you to go back to Koi without any protection whatsoever" Judd told her of his worries.

"I am Queen. I need to go back to my kingdom, Luther" she finally spoke to him.

"I know that. I am just not comfortable with it. I will ask Semeen for a wolf or two to go with you" Alexander suggested.

"I don't need your help, Luther"

Judd moved closer to her. He touched her cheeks "Will you at least look at me?"

"Why Luther?…so your lying cheating face can be forever imprinted on my mind?"

Eileen took out the scarf she gave him before when he was going off to war and she dropped it beside him. Turning around, she left Judd standing there.

When Judd came out again he was fully dressed in his war armor. He marched towards the king's court and was approached by Semeen.

"Stay out of this, commander" Judd told her without stopping.

"I haven't said anything yet" Semeen walked with him. It was difficult but she matched his long strides with two strides of her own.

"This is my fight too. We are the reason the south is invading the West, sir Judd" Semeen spoke on behalf of the werewolves.

Judd stopped and looked at her.

"If you want to help, stay behind with your wolves warriors and protect Aradale from the shadows. The south is accusing us of breaking the treaty, we are not going to give them the evidence they need. This is not pack business. Stay away, Semeen!" Judd walked away leaving Semeen behind.

"Like hell we will!" Semeen muttered under her breath.

If the Alpha was going to war then the werewolves won't be left behind. Semeen walked away to prepare her warriors, she couldn't believe that her pack was made up of eleven different packs from all over the South. She refuses to run with her tail in between her legs now that there was war and so until the king says otherwise, she would proceed like the wolves were still in the fight.

Judd knocked and entered the king's chamber. Two servants were preparing him for war.

"Ask them to leave, your highness. I have something to discuss with you and it's…private" Judd told his brother.

"Get out!" Alexander barked at Ginger and the boy he couldn't give a damn about his name.

They fled.

"Okay, they are gone. Now, you can complain about whatever you need to complain about. And I should tell you that I know her name is Semeen" Alexander said and took his sword from the place it hung.

"I handled Semeen. She will not be a problem" Judd grunted like he was saying that Semeen was beside the point.

Alexander laughed out loud like he made a joke. Judd looked confused.

"Do you remember those days I will tell you not to follow me but somehow when I turn around you are standing behind me…. annoying me?" Alexander asked with a raised eyebrow.

"I am called your shadow for a reason!" Judd said with a hint of annoyance.

"Great…consider Semeen my second shadow. Even if you tell her and I order her, somehow when an arrow is headed for me, she will appear out of no where to do your job and this time, it will annoy you Judd" Alexander shrugged like he was saying it was just a circle of life.

"I can handle Semeen. What I need you to do for me is promise that you won't turn around and risk your life for me on the battle field, Alexander" Judd complained to him.

"But you are my little brother…"

"I am taller than you…" Judd countered.

"I am king!"

"And I am your shadow. I am glad we agree on our roles" Judd said walked out.

"Wait! Did he just trick me into agreeing with him?" Alexander shook his head before he went back to dressing himself.

The door opened again and Jamie entered. Alexander turned around to watch her, he was expecting her to be in tears but she wasn't.

Instead she came closer and helped him fasten the latches on his armor.

"You are good with armor" he commented.

"I am good with stuff that aren't dresses" Jamie smiled at him. "Once, papa allowed me to help him with his armor when I was ten. It was the happiest day of my childhood"

For a while they were both silent as Jamie finished fastening his armor.

Alexander turned around and kissed her softly on the lips.

"Don't be afraid" he whispered to her.

"I am not" she said with a smile.

"That's strange…most wives would be in tears by now" Alexander was impressed.

"Most wives aren't me and they are not married to the devil of Aradale. If anyone gets to be afraid, then it should be the southern Queens because soon, my love.... songs will be sang about the greatest warrior to walk the earth. Some will use the word devil, I don't mind…when I sing that song? I will refer to that warrior as the daylight to my nightless sky, I will call him the greatest love of Derkal, Alexander" Jamie spoke softly and with a dreamy look in her eyes.

Alexander watched her. He was in her awe. She was his unpiercable armor and good lord! He was in love with this beautiful being in front of him. Alexander resented the goddess that placed the curse on his generation because now, he couldn't make love to her and show her how much she truely meant to him.

He moved closer and he placed his forehead on hers.

"I love you, Monisha"

"I love…" Jamie was interrupted by a knock on the door.

(Say it! Say it god damnit! Tell me you love me before I go off to war) Alexander didn't know he was saying it via the mind link.

"No" Jamie said out loud "I won't tell you that I love you until after the war. So, now you have to do your best to come back to me in one piece, Alex"

Alexander laughed softly.

"Don't call me Alex, kings don't shorten their names" they both smiled because it brought back memories of when they were trying to kill each other.

"Call me Jamie, I am not a proper Queen"

"My perfect girl" he whispered to her instead as the door opened and Rosemund entered.

"I knocked severally. I take it nobody was planning on opening the door for me" Rosemund said when she saw the position the king and Queen were currently occupying.

"I will give you some time alone with the crown princess" Jamie kissed him one more time before she left.

Alexander looked at his sister. She looked like she was sick with worry.

"Come here"

He pulled her to himself and hugged her.

"I am scared, Xander"

"I know…I know, little one. But there is nothing to be scared of, Rose. If anyone should be afraid, then it should be the next in line of the Southern kings" Alexander simply repeated everything Jamie told him to uplift his spirit back to Rosemund.

"You will make a great Queen, Rosemund" Alexander reminded her.

"I won't be Queen because you will come back alive, won't you Xander?" She asked and wiped her face.

"Of course, Sweetheart. I just have to teach the southern hemisphere a thing or two about respect. But meanwhile, I need you and Janessa to take care of each other. Promise me that you won't abandon each other in my absence" Alexander watched her closely. He needed to know that his sister won't take out her frustration over his absence on his wife.

He knew that they don't get along with each other and now, they were going to be here alone for God knows how long.

"Promise me, Rosemund"

"I promise. Just come back home with Judd in one piece, I am not losing any of my brothers, okay?"

Rosemund kissed his cheek and walked away.

Later on, Jamie, Rosemund and Eileen stood by the balcony as The king and his lead knight with about a hundred personal knight matched off to war as the music from the drums played.

Rosemund and Eileen had teary eyes, only Jamie had a clear face.. This was not a song for the broken hearted.
