Chapter hundred and seventy one: Miracle in the Looney

Jamie stared at him, unable to move a muscle. He had to lower himself a little bit to drag her up.

"Your majesty?"

Jamie closed her eyes briefly as she felt her emotions. Even though her knights were still fighting around her and hundreds of soldiers still wanted her dead, she simply rested her head on his chest.

"You are alive" she whispered to him.

"Yes, I am alive"

"How did this happen, Judd? When I left yesterday you were so close to death's door. I just couldn't sit still and watch it happen" Jamie told him.

She was so relieved that she had to rest on his chest for support. It was a miracle and she plans to savour it for as long as she could.

Judd saw someone headed for Jamie's back with a sword and he pulled out a dagger from his body and he threw it. The dagger impaled the soldier's chest.

"I thought I was dying too then this morning I woke up and my injuries were gone and my strength was back. And here I am, fighting side by side with my brother's Queen" Judd answered as he did his best to ward off attacks without pushing Jamie away.

When he woke up this morning it was like he was a newborn infant he didn't have time to ponder about it. Instead he was more worried about the women in his life.

He kissed his beautiful wife and hugged his little sister, then he set out to bring the other sister back home alive.

But somehow, he was standing still with her in the middle of war.

Jamie finally came to a bitter realization.

"I can't find him. I can't find Alexander. Everyone thinks he is dead but he is not. I just don't know where he is" Jamie finally admitted to him.

"Don't give up now. If you think he is out there then we won't rest until we bring him home" Judd reassured her.

Jamie nodded and she picked up a sword on the ground and she fought side by side with Judd until he was grazed slightly on the arm and she screamed.

Judd fled towards her thinking that she was mortally injured but he simply found her standing there clutching her left arm.

"Who did this?" Luther asked in a murderous tone.

"No one. It just appeared out of nowhere…wait! You are bleeding too, Luther" Jamie noticed for the first time.

Judd barely felt a thing. Sustaining injuries had become part of his routine, that if it wasn't fatal, he doesn't pay any more attention to it than he would pricked finger.

Jamie pulled up his sleeve. The last thing she wanted was for her miracle resurrection to die from a bleeding arm.

When she saw the cut on his arm she stared at it for a couple of minutes.

"W-what is going on?" She asked the lead knight, stammering just a little.

Judd inspected what she was looking at and he had a look on his face too.

"Did you say it appeared on your arm?" Judd asked her.

Jamie nodded.

She couldn't believe what was happening. She had only read about something like this happening in a book of spells she found as a child but not in real life.

"T-the injury…it's the…the same. We are…" Jamie stopped her mind from going to the dark place.

"Of course, there is an explanation for this!" Judd reassured her but then he wasn't so sure "Is there an explanation for this?"

He asked her. But before he panicked, Judd thought that it was possible for Jamie to have gotten the same injury without knowing that she did.

It was just a cut on the arm. It happens to even the best out there. If there was just a way to prove himself right and it clicked in his head.

Judd picked out a dagger and he held it up.

"What are you doing?" Jamie asked him with a curious expression.

"Proving a point, it is quite possible that you got that cut without knowing you did and it has nothing to do with the cut on my arm" Judd told her.

Jamie saw a soldier coming for Judd but before she could react, she saw her brother's arrow on the soldier's foot.

"Thanks Elle!" She yelled at him.

Elliott looked at her and using sign language, he spoke to her.

"Get up and fight or go home, you are distracting the rest of us!"

Jamie ignored her brother and focused on Judd.

"Do you really have to hurt yourself to prove a point?" Jamie asked him.

"It's just a little cut"

Judd gave himself a little cut just right above his elbow.

Jamie quickly checked her arm to find that she had a matching cut.

"What the hell is going on? This is witchery!" Judd spatted out.

His posture suddenly went rigid like he was a big ice statue that would shatter if a small amount of force was applied but it didn't stop his ear lobes from tingling and the space in-between his fingers from itching.

"I am a white witch" Jamie murmured.

She suddenly felt chilly like she took an impromptu bath in ice water and she couldn't shake the feeling of dread.

"I am a white witch but I didn't do this. I don't know enough spells to do it. What is happening?" Jamie wasn't panicking but she was at the verge of starting. She just needed to get over her initial shock.

"I need to get both of us out of here, your Majesty. Who are you giving command to?" Judd asked her.

"Crown prince Elliott, my brother"

Judd took the patch of authority and he went ahead to give it to her brother.

"Why are you giving me this?" Elliott asked.

"Because your sister wants you to be in charge?" Judd answered impatiently. He didn't have time for this question and answer session.

"Why? Is Jamie okay?" Elliott was worried and he tried to go to his sister.

"The Queen is fine. I am taking her back to the castle. Do you want the patch or not?!" Judd finally lost his temper.

"Fine" Elliott took it from him.

Gesturing at Sir Walter and Derrick, the three knights escorted the Queen back to the castle.

Jamie was worried. It was obvious by the way she was almost dizzy and the shaky smile she placed on her face to cover it to her subjects.

The crown princess and some villages were there to welcome her home. She had made the history book as the first Queen to take up an army and march to war.

The first Queen to defeat and capture four kingdoms in a night, Jamie hated that the wolves won't be acknowledged.

She also hated that Alexander was nowhere to be found yet and she hated it even more that she was somehow bound to Luther Judd.

Amidst the cheering and greetings, Jamie made it all the way to her sisters, Eileen and Rosemund.

"Did you find him?" Rosemund asked her as soon as she was close enough.

"No. But we have one more kingdom to conquer and search. I am almost certain my husband is there and Elliot will find him. But now, come with me, both of you!" Jamie grabbed Rosemund's arm and they started walking towards the king's court.

Judd and Eileen followed closely in each other's arms.

"What is going on, Jamie?" Rosemund was surprised at her slight hostility but she went along with it.

It wasn't like she could overpower Jamie on her own and she didn't want to cause a scene.

Soon, they were entering inside the king's court and Jamie was pushing her roughly into a seat.

"What is going on?" Rosemund asked her as soon as she was able to talk.

"Did you do this? Was that why he woke up?" Jamie showed the princess the cuts on her arms.

"Jamie! Your arm!" Rosemund's eyes widened as she saw the deeper cut. She grabbed the scarf around her neck and she went forward instinctively to stop the bleeding by wrapping the scarf over the injury.

Jamie took a step back.

"You hate me, Rosemund…I know that but binding me to your brother so that he could live was crossing a line. You are draining my life force. If you want me dead the humane thing would have been to put a dagger into my chest!" Jamie turned around to leave but Rosemund stopped her.

Judd and Eileen were in the room too.

"What are you talking about?" Rosemund asked her. "I don't hate you, at least not anymore. I should at least know what you are accusing me of!"

"I read in a spell book I thought was fake when I was 13 that a lifeforce can be replenished by binding the soul and body of a dying person to a healthy one. While the dying person get healthier, the person being drained gets sicker. So, congratulations…you may have saved your brother but you just condemned me to death, Rosemund!"

"I did no such thing! Ask Eileen, I didn't do anything. My brother Luther woke up on his own. You can see the past can't you? Here, take my hand. See for yourself!" Rosemund offered her arm to Jamie.

Jamie believed her.

"Well, now that I know that you didn't do it, Rose…only one other person could. Someone with something to lose"

Jamie was looking at Eileen as she talked.
