Chapter Thirty six: wounded but not defeated.

Rosemund's expression remained neutral even after seeing her supposedly dead brother walk inside the king's court. She still stood in front of the throne with her hands clasped together.

Alexander looked tired and his clothing were torn and bloodied. He looked around and saw the shock on the faces of all the noble men and knights in the room, only his sister looked like a sculpture.

He was hungry and tired and he had no patience for diplomatic relations or even the zeal to explain.

"Get out!" He growled at everyone but they all stood frozen to the spot. "Be gone, all of you!"

Everyone couldn't wait to rush out in time before the bad tempered king took their heads, as soon as they were all out of the door. Alexander stared at his sister again, her eyes were still fixated at the same spot and her hands still clasped together. Alexander suddenly realized, she was still in shock.

"Rose" He walked slowly towards her as not to appear threatening. Alexander knew her sister already knows he was now a beast like their father, a ruthless werewolf that would destroy everything and everyone standing in his way.

"Rose, it's still me. It still Alexander"

Tears streamed down her chubby face but her lips were tightly pressed together. Alexander lowered himself, so he could be on the same plane with her. He looked at her still.

"I am still your brother. I won't let any harm befall you, Rosemund"

"Alexander!"

She flew into his arm and buried her face in his chest.

"It is still you, Alexander. I will keep you good, I swear" she promised him.

"I know, little one. You will keep me good"

"I didn't cry in the king's court. Queens don't cry, Alexander and I asked for the head of sir Litton, just like you told me"

"I heard everything you said from down the hall. You wanted them to find me, dead or alive"

Rosemund tried not to cry even more.

"Queens don't cry! Queens don't cry! Queens don't cry!" She repeated over and over again.

"You are not Queen anymore, Rosemund. The cursed crown is mine and mine alone. You just focus on being a happy little girl"

"I am not sad papa is dead. I am bad, just like him, Alexander"

"No, sweetheart. You are good. You have enough goodness in your heart for the both of us. And I am not sad father died too"

"Then stop the war! The Eastern hemisphere is ours to take! You don't have to be like papa. You don't have to kill puppies and people. Bring back Meg's husband too"

"One thing at a time, little girl"

The siblings didn't realize that Meg still stood by the corner and sobbed while they mentioned her husband. When Alexander looked up, he saw the woman that tend to his injuries, fed him when he was hungry, check his bed when he thought they was a monster there as a child. He was happy to see her too.

"His Majesty!" She bowed to him.

"It is good to see you, Meg. You still have to call me by name in private."

"You frightened the living light out of me, child. What were you thinking, Alexander?"

Alexander looked at Rosemund and both of them smiled; Meg was the only one in the royal household who scolded them in private all the time. Alexander was wrong, when he thought she wouldn't scold him now that he was king.

"I will go hug her" Rosemund said.

"That will quiet her. We can't have people see Meg scold me on my first day as king"

"No, we can't"

After Alexander entered his room, he soaked himself in a warm bath for some time. He couldn't believe how fast the stab on his abdomen healed, all thanks to a peasant boy and his ill mannered protector.

He saw when the young boy got in between the girl with a silver blade and him as an injured wolf. He will find him and he will show his gratitude.

Alexander stared at the lock of hair on his table. A black hair his wolf had taken and he didn't understand why. In Aradale, a man is supposed to have a lock of hair of his bride. It signified everlasting commitment and love, only soul mates collect lock of hair. But it baffled Alexander, one, it was a boy that saved his wolf and yet anytime he thought about the boy, his wolf was always possessive. Mine! His wolf would always growl.

The servant that dressed his new king's hands shook as he did. It was like he was even more afraid of Alexander now that he was to be king.

"If you are going to keep shaking like a chicken, the least you could do is try to appear brave"

"Y-yes, Y-your Majesty"

"You are new, here. What is your name?"

"Jordan, milord…My mother says I am your new servant-t, that his Majesty needs people he can trust"

"Your mother sounds like a wise woman"

"She is, milord. My mother is Megan"

"Meg is your mother. I knew i know you from somewhere, Ginger. You grew up"

Ginger was a childhood name of Jordan that stuck with him.

"You remember, milord. Mother says I tried to swallow your blade as an infant" Jordan sounded amused but the king was not.

"It's a shame. I liked little Ginger but if your hands keep shaking like that, I will throw you into the dungeon"

The amusement left Jordan's face and he became seriously engrossed in his task. When he was done, the king looked himself in the mirror to ascertain he was in order.

"Prepare my horses and inform the king's personal knights, we ride to Eastern hemisphere today"

"Yes, milord"

King Alexander and his knights rode all day to get to the Eastern hemisphere, hoping they would get there in time to stop the invasion.

King Jared and six others kings from the six other kingdom that made up the Eastern hemisphere stood with their armies ready to defend their territory. But even the armies the seven kingdoms could produce, was half of Alexander's Army.

As soon as Alexander got there, he rode to stand in front of his army like a king should but instead of asking them to advance; he surprised his army with the next word that came out of his mouth.

"Halt! There will be no war today"

There were small gasps from the army but some looked considerably relived to go home and be with their loved one.

"Sir Uric… Sir Daniel, you are with me"

King Alexander and his two knights rode forward on their horses to meet with the kings of the Eastern hemisphere.

Most of the kings were shocked on how young the king of Aradale was.

"Your Highnesses, I am king Alexander of Aradale. King over western hemisphere"

"Where is King Darius?" King Jared asked.

"I am afraid, he is dead. Your dealings will be with me"

"Milord, the Eastern hemisphere is not yours to take and we will fight to the death to protect what is ours" another king told Alexander.

"My father wanted the Eastern hemisphere. But I am not my father. I want peace over Derkal nations. My armies and I will match back to Western hemisphere tonight but if you retaliate and cross over into my kingdom to take revenge. I, King Alexander would have no other choice but to destroy you"

Alexander could see the relief over the king's faces.

"But what assurance do we have that you will keep your word and not attack us when our guards are down, King Alexander" Another king asked.

"I just gave you my word but if you have any other alternative to set your heart at rest, I am willing to hear it" King Alexander spoke out loud.

The entire kings appeared to be in deep thought for a while. King Jared saw an opening to gain more and be more powerful and he took it without thinking about the consequences.

"You are a young man, King Alexander… You are unmarried and in need of a wife to bore you heirs. I propose a marriage alliance between your kingdom and mine" king Jared spoke up and all the kings seem to be both jealous and fascinated at his fast thinking.

"You think a maiden from Eastern hemisphere is worthy to be Queen over my kingdom?" Alexander was shocked and baffled to hear king's Jared suggestions.

But they were benefits to it. He never believed in love and knew he was never going to marry for love. His was going to be a marriage of convenience and Alliances.

"Not just any maiden but to my daughter. Princess Arabella of Namura"

"And so be it then, milord. I presume your daughter is younger than I am?"

"Yes, milord. She is sixteen years of age"

"Then I shall send for her in four years, King Jared and for the sake of your head, she better appear before me as a willing wife"

Alexander turned and rode back with his knights.
