Chapter Forty one: tastes like freedom.

King Alexander saw how impatient Semeen was when he insisted they wait till sun down to rescue her mother and as many of the imprisoned werewolves.

"We have one advantage, Semeen. We have better eyesight than the humans. Night time is the only way we can rescue your Luna" King Alexander said with his eyes closed. "Get some rest while you can, Wolf"

Alexander places his back to the tree and his eyes remained closed. He wondered what Janessa was doing. Did she escape to Namura while he was gone and there was no one to stop her? Or did she stay back like he requested.

He needed to complete this ridiculous mission and go back to his bride. Alexander wanted to go back to taming her and forcing her to realize that she wanted him just as much as he wanted her.

He wanted her!

Alexander blinked to refocus his mind. He needed rest if he was going to take out an entire battalion to save his kind.

Soon, it was dusk and it was time to attack.

"Look at us, King Alexander. Two wolves making a difference. You should shift to your wolf form" Semeen shifted in a minute.

Alexander knew he could never tell her why he couldn't shift into a wolf.

"I give the orders. I will draw the guards out and keep them busy. You have about three minutes to release Luna Elise and as many prisoners as you can before we are overrun. Do not try to get everyone out, Semeen or we won't make it. We will meet back here in five minutes"

Semeen nodded and King Alexander gestured for her to go to a strategic point.

Alexander walked into the camp and stood at the middle. The guards stared at him curiously.

"Who are you?" One barked at him.

"You should ask your sister, I was just with her last night" it was an insult that was guaranteed to explicit violence from the lead guard. And Alexander knew that if he ran now, the guard would follow him and so would his sidekicks.

The guard stood up like predicted. He moved together King Alexander with a deadly glare Alexander smiled and took off. He was an outstanding runner.

Like he predicted most of the king's guards went after him. About ten of them, and even though guards aren't as trained as knights. It was still an unfair fight for anyone but Alexander.

He picked up the fighting stick he spent time caving earlier and he went after them.

Even though they fought to kill him, Alexander only inflicted as much injury to render them invalid. It was one thing to rescue prisoners illegally and another thing to kill the king's guards, even he knew that.

He distracted them long enough for Semeen to release as many prisoners as he deemed necessary. By now, word would have gotten to the King's castle about the escape plan and knights will be sent to defend the king's land.

With the ten of the guards on the ground wincing from pain, Alexander made his way to where he was supposed to meet Semeen. He saw about fifteen prisoners and a Luna.

Bollocks! It was more than he could safely get back to the West. He looked around but Semeen wasn't there.

"His Highness" The luna spoke on behalf of her pack "You have our endless gratitude for rescuing us"

"Where is Semeen?" Alexander asked instead.

"Captured by now, I am afraid. She went back for her Omega, Theresa"

Alexander could see the grief behind the brave face.

"Are you going to leave her there, Luna Elise?"

"My daughter knew what she was getting herself into. I love my daughter and she would make a great Alpha Luna if she lived to our pack but I have fifteen souls to worry about too. But as mother, I want to beg for the King's help... rescue my daughter and her Omega" Luna Elise tried as much as possible to conceal her sadness.

Alexander opened the bag he was carrying and took out a map. There was no way he could be in two places at once. He looked at the fifteen prisoners, most were teens, three toddlers and a cub.

May the moon goddess save them all!

Alexander handed the map to Luna Elise.

"If you can get your pack across the border to the West, you will be granted entry into my land and freedom is guaranteed" Alexander told her.

"And Semeen?" Luna Elise asked

"I have never left a man behind before, I won't start now. But I can't help the rest of you until you are behind the great western oak tree. Good luck, Luna"

Luna Elise came closer to the King.

(May the moon goddess keep you and your wolf safe, Oh King of Wolves) she told him through the mind link.

"Thank you" she murmured out loud.

Alexander watched as they departed.

"You can come out now, Sir Judd. We have work to do" Alexander spoke out loud to his lead knight he knew was lurking in the shadows.

He heard a rusting sound and Judd emerged from behind a tree. Alexander knew he heard most of the conversation with the Luna.

"His Highness" he bowed to him.

"I am not your King at the moment, Judd. If I was, I would say that I ordered you to stay in the castle but somehow here, you are" Alexander told the Knight who kept his face down on his feet.

"I will take the punishment my king melts out to me but I won't abandon my duties or the crown and neither will them" Sir Judd spoke with precision and a voice belonging to a man that won't be bullied.

"Them?" Alexander was puzzled.

"Sir Derrick and Sir Walters, my most trusted knights"

They both emerged from different trees.

"I could have your head...all of your heads for disobeying my orders"

The three knights knelt before him in submission.

"It was an outcome we accept, his Highness"

Alexander was both outraged and touched, they just risked their heads for him.

"Rise! We have a prison to break into"
