Chapter forty two: I can't wait to go home.

King Alexander found his situation funny to say the least. He was a king in a pauper's clothes committing the very act of treason to rescue a girl he doesn't even know or like. It was like it was his duty and when had he ever done it out of love.

The king and his three knights took the camp's prison by night through a hidden tunnel. He might have the perfect night vision because of his wolf but Alexander still had to tell his Knights where and where not to step on. It was tedious and he was not a very patient man.

By now the kingdom of Trale was on high alert for possible intruders. The prison was heavily guarded by seven of King's Knights at least. They came out of the tunnel right above them and the plan was to sneak in and out without causing much havoc.

The plan almost went perfectly until they found the huge iron gate coated in silver and King Alexander knew it was specially made for him and his kind. The only way he could rescue Semeen and her Omega was to go back and fight the knights they have already bypassed earlier and confiscate their keys.

The battle took considerable amount of time, they were trained knights after all but his knights were better. Sir Judd, Walters and Derrick fought bravely while Alexander took the keys to unlock the prison door.

What he saw would make any man flinch but not Alexander, he simply shrugged it off. Semeen and her Omega was beaten to the inches of their lives. Three teenage girls hugged each other by the corner. Their left legs were locked with silver chains and it left terrible and what looks like painful bruises.

Alexander felt his hand burn as he touched the silver chains.

"Be careful, his highness" Semeen voiced out with concern.

Alexander saw the glint of hope that appeared on the eyes of the teenagers and the omega.

"You are the wolf king. You are the savior! Bless the moon goddess!" The Omega whispered loud enough for Alexander to hear.

"You know about me?" Alexander asked a little bit surprised.

The girl nodded weakly. She wanted to say more but King Alexander knew that if they stayed any longer, they might all be prisoners.

"Can you walk?" he asked the girls. All but one nodded.

He simple lifted her like a sack of potatoes.

The knights met them half way out; Sir Walters had a bloodied shoulder. Alexander threw a glance at him.

"You should see the other knight" Sir Walters whispered to his king and they carried on.

King Alexander knew that getting out of the south would be difficult but he had the high trees the south was famously known for to advantage. It would be so much easier if they had horses.

When they got to a reasonable distance from the king's camp, Sir Judd stopped and informed him of his plan.

"We need to wait here, his highness" He declared to his king.

"Why?" Alexander asked. Was the wet air of the south beginning to affect his lead knight's head? The point of breaking out of prison was to get as far away as possible.

Sir Judd was about to answer when they heard rustlings and all of them drew their swords but the intruder appeared to be a familiar face.

The young lad that was oblivious of the swords pointed his way emerged from the shadows dragging with him four horses. Immediately he saw the swords, he raised his hands to the sky in surrender. Oh god of the sun! The king was going to kill him.

King Alexander looked closely at the young lad.

"Is...Is that, Ginger?" Alexander turned to face his knights. He wanted to know why his personal servant was dragging horses in a foreign hemisphere.

"I needed someone I can trust and the lad was the most palatable option, his highness" Sir Judd answered "And we needed someone to buy horses. Someone that can blend in, he was the obvious option"

Alexander clasped his hands together. If Meg, Ginger's mother finds out he had just risked her son's life in the south, he would be better off in an enemy's territory.

"Hmm…did anyone tell Meg about this arrangement?" Alexander asked his knights. Sir Walters flesh wound suddenly needed attention, Sir Derrick scratched the back of his head and turned his attention to the sky while Sir Judd decided one of the teenage girls needed help with her scarf. Cowards!

"I am not telling Meg either" Alexander declared.

"I was hoping we could leave Mama out of this little adventure?" Ginger told his king.

"Let's do that"

Each horse carry two people and soon they were on their way to the borders. They travelled all night since they had to take hidden parts. Alexander and his crew almost made it to the borders when southerners attacked them. With the horses injured they had to cross over to the border on foot. If they are able to make it on time to the oak tree then they will be saved.

Alexander was confident that they would make it when one of the rescued girls fell down and he had two choices. One, keep moving and save his life without causing an inter-hemispheric war. Or go back for the girl and leave himself vulnerable and not only will he be dead he would start a war between the south and the west.

Alexander went back for the girl and as he lifted her up, he saw one of the southerner aim an arrow at them. He used his body as shield.

He waited for the arrow to pierce his body even anticipated it but it never did. He heard a whimper and turned around. It was the Luna. She had somehow used her body as shield. Alexander wondered where she came from.

Alexander carried the little girl over to his kingdom. He went back for Luna Elise but somehow she had managed to tag along until she was safely in Western Hemisphere. The southerners retreated and the other fifteen former prisoners emerged from the shadows.

"Mama!" Semeen rushed to her side.

It was too late. The injury was fatal.

"Mama! Don't die…please" She pleaded with Luna Elise.

Luna Elise whispered something to her daughter and she nodded and moved aside. Alexander came closer. He had never had anyone die in his stead before.

Alexander lowered himself to the ground to hear what she had to tell him.

"Thank you.. I am…finally…free" She whispered and breathed her last.
