Chapter sixty two: Queen's advisor
Jamie decided it was frivolous to talk about her feelings with Lucinda May. Her job was to advise her on kingdom matters not her relationship.
"Do something nice for him....to get his attention. It works on Jared and it might work on his Highness too" Lucida May advised.
"I am sure his Highness and I have other things to do with our time. What is next on the list of a Queen's duty" Jamie asked Lucinda May as they walked into the carriage.
"You need to invite the noble ladies for tea. It's tedious and you have to smile even when they are annoying but it will gain you favors, your Majesty" Lucinda May adjusted the Queen's dress as she sat down.
"I have a better idea, cancel the tea party. What's next?"
"You have to choose your ladies in waiting,your Majesty. It's what your status demands"
"No. Next!"
"The winter hunting and your Majesty's binding ceremony. The winter hunting will be in a few weeks and we have lords, viscounts and noblemen and knights from the western hemisphere and beyond will be in attendance. They will need lodging, food and hunting gears, your Majesty" Lucinda May opened the carriage door and Jamie step out of it. Together they walked into the castle.
"This hunting game, am I allowed to be in attendance, Lady Lucinda May?"
Lucinda May smiled like it was an unthinkable idea.
"No woman wants to spend three days in the deep forest with mosquito and snakes and afterwards, hunt a boar on a horse with brutes and bloodthirsty knights, your Majesty. You can be rest assured that no one expects you to be in attendance. It's only for Men" Lucinda searched her scroll for the next duty for the Queen.
"Oh, that's alright. Is that all?"
"We have to replenish your wardrobe and we still need to have that tea with noble ladies" Lucinda May answered with a smile.
"Fine! Arrange it then but I don't drink tea. I drink wine"Jamie made a face that made Lucinda and Rachael smiled.
Then Jamie stopped walking and stared at a spot. It was Alexander.
Accurately, it was Alexander with not one but two of his mistresses, standing in broad daylight at the court's entrance. Lucinda May followed the Queen's gaze until it fell on the king and the ladies he was having a conversation with and she knew.
"Your Majesty, let's go for breakfast in the royal dining room" Lucinda May wanted to prevent a scene.
Jamie followed her into the waiting area for the breakfast.
Alexander could see the seductive smile on Amelia's face. But it wasn't why he had called her and Semeen. Semeen and the pack were finding it difficult to find things in the West and they needed someone to be a middle person. Alexander gave the job to Amelia.
"You will meet with Semeen once a week to know her demands. Am I clear?" Alexander asked Amelia.
"Yes, your Highness" she wasn't very keen about being an errand girl for such a little thing but Amelia knew that the king would find someone young but she was confident that he would always come back to her. No one can pleasure him like she can.
"You can leave us now, Amelia" Semeen ordered the king's mistress who was speechless. Who was she to dismiss her? Amelia was ready to argue when the king nodded. She simply bowed and depart. She plans to have a word with the King when they met for the sexual triste in the night.
Semeen and Alexander walked down the hallway.
"How is the pack adjusting?" King Alexander asked her. "Do you need anything?"
"We can sustain ourselves, Wolf King. Most have taken up woodwork, some farming while others like myself hunting. We will sell to the humans and earn pennies" Semeen answered. "Your Highness, I came to the palace to discuss another rescue mission. I got words of another pack of wolves in hiding near the southern border and I believe sooner than later that one of the southern kings will find and imprison them. We have to rescue them"
Semeen told him.
"I know. I am already planning a rescue mission"
"I am coming with you and I will take some warriors from our pack" Semeen told him.
"You can come but no one else. I have an assignment for you, Semeen. During the last full moon, I was conscious for a period of time when I was a wolf and I think it has something to do with my wife. I need you to get close to Queen Janessa and figure it out" Alexander was close to the dinning hall now.
Semeen knew that Alexander should not be with a human girl. She was a more obvious option for him and in a year when she turns twenty she will likely be his mate by the will of the moon goddess.
"Have you thought of leaving the human girl? You are an Alpha and you should have a wolf Luna" Semeen suggested.
Alexander stopped and grabbed her wrist gently. He even caress it as he talked.
"I found my Queen, Semeen and she will remain my Queen, human or not. The pack should make peace with it or you all are free to move on from my kingdom. Is that clear enough for you, Semeen?"
"Yes" She whispered and blinked. She felt a certain kind of rage. The wolf King just choose his human girl over his pack.
Alexander's mood lightened.
"Breakfast?" Alexander asked her.
"Yes, your Highness"
Without asking, just as they were about to walk inside the dining room, Semeen interlocked her hand with the king's. And before Alexander could do anything about it, they were inside the dining room. Face to face with the Queen that rejected him.
Jamie watched with a hidden annoyance as her husband walked inside the dining hall with his other woman.
This was her castle and she could have her thrown out or she could walk up to them with a smile while she secretly plot her downfall.
