Chapter sixty five: What do you want from me?
Rosemund walked behind her brother after breakfast. With Jamie doing most of her duties as the lady of the castle, she had time to attend to other things...which includes nothing. She had no real friends and no love interest. She had spent most her life making sure her brother was well taken care of and reminded him from time to time to stay human and this was one of those times.
What she saw in the dining hall wasn't normal? She knew the girl that walked inside with Alexander might be one of his numerous mistresses and it wasn't right that he showed up with her to the dining hall with their arms interlocked. Rosemund wasn't a fan of her sister in law but Alexander shouldn't have made Semeen his Queen's lady in waiting.
She hastened up until she caught up with the king.
"What are you doing, Xander?"
"What do you mean, Rosemund?" Alexander played clueless.
"You know what I mean! You can't force Jamie to take Semeen as her lady in waiting that is Ludicrous" Rosemund tapped her finger loudly on her thigh to display how angry she was.
"I can and I have" Alexander spoke without looking at her.
"Why? You are not a bad person, Alexander" Rosemund was becoming frustrated.
"Haven't you heard little sister? I am the devil of Aradale" Alexander said dismissively.
Rosemund knew he was avoiding the question; she moved faster and stopped in front of Alexander. With her little body in front of him, Alexander stopped before he collided with her.
"Are you sleeping with Semeen?" Rosemund was bold.
"It's none of your business, little one" Alexander answered her.
"I am not little anymore and you are not sleeping with her but Jamie thinks you are and yet you made Semeen the Queen's lady in waiting. I want to know why?" Rosemund was adamant.
Alexander simply went around her after ignoring her question.
"It's about Max, isn't it?" Rosemund guessed correctly.
Alexander stopped and turned back.
"You are persistent, aren't you Rose?"
"I am correct. Now, tell me what happened. And I might tell you what happened when Jamie saw your wolf" Rosemund offered something in return like a good royalty was supposed to.
"For some time I was aware of myself in my wolf form. For a little while Max and I, we were one and it has everything to do with Janessa being nearby. Once she was safely returned to the castle and we took off into the forest, I faded into oblivion again. I need Semeen to get close enough to Janessa to find out why" Alexander explained to his little sister.
"I think it might have something to do with what Jamie told me. Did you know she named your wolf? She recognized Max the minute they met"
"That is not possible, we only met Janessa a few weeks ago for the first time" Alexander told his sister.
"Well, Max isn't telling you everything. Jamie saved your wolf four years ago in the Eastern hemisphere" Rosemund answered with a look.
"No, a dark haired boy saved my life in a small cabin in the forest at the borders of Namura and Koi Kingdom"
Alexander was serious.
"I don't know what to tell you. Have a talk with both Max and Jamie but you should know, the Queen protected you and your wolf when she thought I was about to attack you"
With that, Rosemund turned and walked away.
Alexander walked towards the Queen's Chamber when he saw Rachael.
"Where is the Queen?"
"His Highness" The young maiden took a step back "Milady is in the Queen's court with her advisor and that girl"
Alexander didn't fail to notice that Rachael was taking Janessa's side and they were united in the hatred of Semeen. He still kept his face expressionless.
"Inform the Queen that I need her in my Chambers, Rachael" Alexander told her and walked away.
"Yes, his Highness"

Jamie walked slowly with Rachael behind her. She couldn't fathom what Alexander needed her presence for. Whatever he wanted her to do; he could simply order someone else to do it. She kept her demeanor neutral and her back straight.
Soon, she was in front of the King's chamber. Jamie took a breath and knocked softly.
"Come inside"
She pushed the door and entered after she instructed Rachael to go about the business of arranging flowers in her room.
Alexander turned when she walked inside.
"You don't have to knock before entering my Chambers, Janessa" He murmured.
"I wouldn't want to barge in on his Highness and his private matters. Why am I here?" Jamie questioned with a neutral face.
Jamie suspected Alexander might want to talk about Semeen or at least offer her some explanation. It won't solve anything but it might help her understand. Jamie anticipated the Question.
"The cabin in the forest where you stayed when you were exiled, describe it for me" Alexander asked instead.
Jamie was taken aback. She was not expecting that question.
"Why?"
"Just humor me, Janessa"
Jamie had never really thought about the cabin in details. She tried to visualize it.
The cabin was made out of oak logs. Her father told her that oaks were the most beautiful and welcoming. It was a three room cabin with well equipped weaponry. The first room contained a shelf that housed special books on war and tactics. And Jamie told him exactly that.
"What about a river?" Alexander asked her.
Alexander remembered crossing a shallow river when he escaped from the cabin he was treated.
"There is a small river nearby, why?" Jamie was getting uncomfortable. Why was the king asking about her cabin? It was suspicious and it made Jamie nervous.
"Are you planning on invading my kingdom?" Jamie's question startled Alexander.
"No. I was just making conversation" Alexander sat on the stool by the corner.
"What do you want from me, Alexander?"
Alexander knew it then.. Jamie was the boy that saved his wolf.
