Chapter sixty eight: beautiful before

"You are kind, his Highness" Princess jasmine said like she was required to.

"May I introduce, the exquisite Queen Janessa my bride to you?" Alexander pulled Jamie closer to himself and she offered her hand to Dempsey.

"You are truly exquisite, her Majesty" Dempsey kissed her hand and eyed her seductively. Jamie wanted to wash his scent off. She could feel Alexander's tighten his grip on her waist.

"Her Majesty" Princess jasmine lowered her head slightly and so did Jamie.

"Her Royal Highness, May I be acquainted with this adorable little Beauty" Jamie smiled at the toddler.

"This is Lady Phoebe of Bel, our daughter"

Jamie played with the little girl's hand until she stretched out her hand to her to be lifted up.

Without giving it a second thought, Jamie lifted Phoebe into her arms.

Ladies in waiting and knights all stared at the Queen as she conversed with the infant. It was well known that noble ladies leave their children's rearing to the nursemaids and servants. But here was a Queen, picking up a drooling infant.

"You are adorable, aren't you Phoebe? You are a little adorable baby" Jamie conversed with the girl while everyone else including the southern royal family stared at her.

Jamie moved closer to the King to show him the baby.

"Alexander, Isn't she beautiful?" She asked him.

Alexander smiled. His wife was making a scene again without knowing it. He wondered if he would ever see her hold his baby. Will his Queen sit still long enough to give him an heir?

He smiled at the little infant and used his index finger to caress her cheek. Then he turned to his bride with a serious face

"Do you want one?" He asked her.

Jamie looked up and blinked.

"One what?" Jamie was confused. Everyone was looking at them and some were trying not to smile.

"Do you want an infant, my love? I can give you one" Alexander whispered to her and smiled. She blushed so hard that Alexander almost kissed her right there on the lips.

"They always want one, your highness" Prince Dempsey spoke like he was an expert on the matter. He moved closer to Rosemund and without waiting for proper introductions, grabbed her hand and kissed it.

"And you are?"

"Crown princess Rosemund of Aradale, your royal highness" Rosemund spared him a smile but Alexander noted that she was tensed around the man.

"When is your coming out ceremony, Milady?" Dempsey asked.

Alexander decided to intervene before princess Jasmine fainted from embarrassment since her husband was openly flirting with another lady or worst Alexander would punch his face for disrespecting his sister in his kingdom. And other nobles were beginning to come inside too.

"Prince Dempsey, my knight will show you and your family to the receiving room" Alexander informed them.

As they made their way to the receiving room, Jamie still held on to their infant daughter. The nursemaid was confused. Was she to leave the infant with the Queen or ask for Phoebe to be returned to her?

Alexander understood the nursemaid's dilemma. The baby's mother didn't care much where her infant was; only the nursemaid did.

"Give the infant back, Monisha" Alexander ordered her.

"Bye, Phoebe" Jamie handed the infant to Alexander instead of the nursemaid.

Alexander froze. He had never held an infant before. He looked at her little chubby face and her helpless frame and he just stared.

He was about to say something when another carriage arrived. It was Eileen, Queen of Koi and her knights.

She stepped down from the carriage and everyone simply was amazed. She was very young, probably around Janessa's age. Her strawberry blonde hair was up in a bun as her crown rested elegantly on the center. Her oval face housed a perfect nose and dimples as she smiled showing a perfect diastema.

Sir Judd, seeing that Alexander's hands were occupied with the infant moved forward and offered his arm to queen Eileen and she took it. Her yellow dress dropped gently to the floor as she walked towards the king.

Queen Eileen was a rare beauty one doesn't come across everyday and it was her first time coming face to face with King Alexander of the West.

"Queen Eileen of Koi" the announcer called out before she got to the king.

She had the symbol of her house on the mantle she held. Jamie had never seen anyone as beautiful as Arabella until now. Her first thought was - now, that's what a queen should look like!

"Your highness, thank you for inviting Koi to your beautiful kingdom" Eileen bowed slightly to Alexander. Her knights moved closer to her. They seemed overprotective of their Queen.

"Your Majesty, your beauty is legendary and I thank you for honoring my invitation to my winter hunt"

Eileen offered her hand and Alexander kissed it. He looked enchanted. He couldn't believe his wolf had ordered for the head of such an exquisite creature and that Eileen had proposed marriage to him.

Eileen saw the infant the king was carrying and smiled at her.

"Who is this?"

"This is Lady Phoebe of Bel. She is a guest" Alexander answered.

"She is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen" Eileen ran her index finger on Phoebe's cheek like Alexander did earlier on and both Alexander and Phoebe smiled.

Jamie was jealous. Even her husband had forgotten to introduce her.

She moved closer to Alexander. She refused to be forgotten.

Eileen was leaving the life she wanted. She was Queen regnant over her kingdom and she has Alexander's attention too. She had never seen him so keen with another woman before.

She moved closer.

"I am...."

"You are princess Jamie of Namura and Queen over West. It's an honor to finally meet someone I always wanted to meet. Your bravery is legendary, your majesty? Did you really win every tournament you fought disguised as a boy?"

Jamie touched her forehead.

Bollocks! Now Jamie couldn't hate her.
