Chapter seventy five: where is Sir Luther Judd?

The good doctor wondered how long before they realized the things listed on the paper was almost impossible to get. He just needed them out of the way to tend to his seriously injured patient who was about to go through another bout of pain if she was going to keep her fingers and he didn't want the king to watch. But he needed help and it was why he needed the stone hearted Knight.

Semeen walked down the hallway. Her feet making a slapping sound as she walked. Her head pounded and she had a healing injury. She will be as good as new in a few hours but not the Luna.

Alexander stopped her.

"Are you alright? Were you badly injured in the fight?" He asked of her.

"What does it matter? I couldn't protect my Luna and I failed you, Alpha. I don't matter"

"Semeen?"

"I will get the list and get back as soon as I can, your highness"

Semeen left before Alexander could say anything. Alexander looked around but Judd was nowhere in sight. It was the first time his shadow knight wasn't there when he needed him.

Alexander could feel himself get angry. Even the footsteps of the manservant that walked towards him annoyed him. He turned to him and yelled "Where the hell is Sir Luther Judd?"

*********

An hour earlier

Judd walked behind Queen Eileen as she made her way to her chamber. The grey dress she wore fell loosely to the floor giving her the appearance of a moving smoke. Her hair was still down and her footsteps were even and small.

"You don't talk much, do you knight?" Eileen asked him.

"No" his voice was stern and final. And he went back to being mute.

"I see" Eileen murmured. She resumed walking until she was near the stone statue of a lion. The statue almost looked life like, with the creature's big mouth open with all of its gnarly teeth. It made Eileen nostalgic. She stopped to run her hand on the statue.

"Do you know who made this stone statue?" Eileen asked once again.

"No" he grunted again.

"Will you find out for me?" Eileen stared at him.

"No. If we can resume walking your Majesty, I need to go back to protecting the King"

It was the longest conversation they had ever had since they met.

Eileen obliged him and resumed walking. She chatted carelessly for a while.

"I have a pet lion. His name is vengeance. I got him when he was a pup and now, he is about this nay high"

"Having a pet named vengeance and who is a lion is unwise, your majesty" Judd chipped in his two cents on the matter. He was more worried about the duty he wasn't performing.

"So I have been told"

Judd didn't say a word.

"What is your name?"

"Sir Judd, your majesty"

"I mean your name not the name of your noble house, knight" Eileen knew she was venturing into personal waters.

Judd gave it a brief thought. Then he answered.

"My name is Luther....Sir Luther Judd"

"May I call you Luther?"

"No."

Okay. That was it for Eileen. Trying to have a conversation with the knight wasn't just tedious, it was unfruitful too. It was like having a conversation with a wall.

"Having a conversation with you gives me a headache. It's tedious and unproductive" Eileen commented without malice.

"I have been told that"

Judd watched her. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever met and she was Queen regnant over her kingdom. He wasn't even in the same boat as her Majesty, the queen Eileen of Koi.

Eileen had a plan. It was the reason she came to the West and left her right hand man in charge of the kingdom. She knew she had to produce an heir apparent soon or a coup might be carried out by one of her men and she would lose her throne. But she had no prospect and no one interested her in the east. She was of childbearing age... almost twenty one and she had been queen for five years.

She just needed someone to put a child in her and she didn't want any mechanical conception either. She wanted a whirlwind romance that she would day dream about for the rest of her life but she didn't want a man that would get attached to her and demand what she was unwilling to give.

Growing up with a brute as a father and two older Squids that lorded over her for as long as she could remember was enough example of how she didn't want any man in her life permanently. Eileen wanted all of the pleasure but none of the baggage. She wanted none of the worrying but mostly....no baggage.

The West was a good place to start. She was only here for a week and it was the perfect time to provide Koi with an heir or heiress. The man behind her was perfect.

He was detached and doesn't let emotion rule him and he has the physical quality of a great lover. And as an added plus, he didn't repulse her. There was only one flaw to her plan; her heart almost always skipped a beat whenever he was close by.

Eileen was by her door now.

"I shall bid you goodnight, your majesty" Judd bowed slightly as Eileen quickly opened her chambers door.

"Luther?"

Judd can remember only a few people that called him by his first name.

"Yes, Queen Eileen"

"Can you light the candles? It's too dark and I hate darkness"

"I will get a maid, Milady" Judd turned to leave but the look he saw on Eileen's face was horror. He couldn't just leave like that.

"Stay here" he whispered and strolled inside the chamber.

Judd was almost done lighting the candles when he heard the queen enter and then door was latched.

"I have a proposal for you, Luther and you are going to accept"
