Chapter Eighty two: All things wise and beautiful...I want to kill them all.

Alexander rubbed the side of his neck in a parallel motion. He had no idea why he did that. He would have shrugged his shoulder but he didn't want to wake Jamie. He pulled her closer to himself and wrapped his arms around her.

His eyes darted from one object to another until it settled on the big rock in a distance. Otherwise, he appeared stoic as usual.

"Forgive me, dear friend. Forgive your human" Alexander muttered to him.

"Okay, Alexander... okay" Max refused to push it further. Alexander should know he could read his mind.

Alexander refused to acknowledge to his wolf that it bothered him that Janessa pushed him away and ran straight into Max's arms for comfort. His lips started to twitch slightly and when he swallowed, his Adam's apple moved.

Jamie stirred a little bit before she opened her eyes slowly. How long did she sleep for?

"Hey, sleepyhead" Alexander had a slow smile on his face, a smile that hid everything underneath the beautiful face.

"Hey, husband. How long was I out for? Your hand must be numb now as I have been resting my head on you for so long....I should get up" Jamie tried to move but Alexander wouldn't let her.

"You weigh less than a feather, Monisha. Stay put or I am going to kiss you" Alexander warned her with playful eyes.

Jamie wanted to be kissed but she remembered why she ran into the forest anyway. He had refused her access to his body when she wanted him. Who was to say it won't happen again?

Was he treating her like a mistress right this moment? Before she could ask him anything, Alexander was over her and he was staring intently at her lips and eyes. Jamie wondered how one of his elbows could hold his body weight and still carry her.

Alexander dropped a kiss on the bridge of her nose and then her cheeks. He wanted to kiss her forehead, when Jamie stopped him and held his jaw still. She kissed his cheek and pushed him away.

"What is wrong?" Alexander asked her.

"Nothing. I am going for a swim and then we can go" Jamie stood up. Alexander was puzzled. Things were just going so well until they weren't.

Jamie ran towards the river and stepped inside.

"Talk to me, Janessa" Alexander sat up and he used his elbows as support.

Jamie stopped. He had given her a peaceful afternoon; the least she can do was be honest with him.

"You said you were going to treat me like a mistress. You refused me access to your lips, last night. What changed between then and now?" Jamie asked him.

"You almost died damn it!"

"That shouldn't come as a shock to you but I don't want your pity kisses, Alexander!"

Alexander almost laughed out loud...pity kisses! He has always made the fact that he wanted her open. It was never a secret from the first time he met her. He kissed her feet, god damn it! And she was accusing him of pity kisses? Hell no, he won't stand for it. It was time he spoke his mind.

He stood up and moved threatening towards her.

"Make up your mind, little girl. It's either you want me or you don't... There is no in-between! You throw a tantrum whenever you don't get what you want like a little girl. Well, you are not a child Janessa. You are a god damn queen, you don't take off into the forest at night because her husband refused you a kiss or make a fuss whenever I am holding another woman's hand innocently because you are a god damn queen. Act like it! And stop behaving like you are..."

Jamie interrupted him when she moved closer to him. She refused to cower or run and hide.

"Like what, Alexander? Like what?"

Alexander was mute, he turned to move away from a volatile situation but Jamie was persistent. She moved with him and talked non-stop.

"Who the hell do you think you are? You have no right to talk to me in that tone, you arrogant conceit annoying rascal! Who the hell do you think you are?"

Alexander turned immediately and Jamie ran into his solid chest yet Alexander stared at her coldly.

"I am Alexander Lucian Aradale, King over the Western hemisphere. You should watch your tongue princess Janessa or I will send you back to that kingdom you would rather be in and set it on fire! And if you wander off without protection again, I will throw you into the dungeon and chain you to the wall myself. Is that clear enough for you?"

Jamie shuddered with an open mouth. Then she closed it and pressed her lips together, her chest rising and falling softly as her breath.

Alexander looked down at her eyes and held her gaze.

"Do you understand me?" His eyes were piercing and firm.

"Yes. Yes, I understand" Jamie felt a sudden chill go through her as she answered him. Her eyes bulged in and out of her eyes socket like it was hunted. She wanted to take a step back but somehow her feet were rooted to the spot but her bulging eyes darted maniacally for an escape involuntarily.

With the way her lips were tightly pressed together, it was beginning to twitch.

"You wanted a swim, go and swim. We will leave in an hour, Janessa"

Jamie didn't want a swim but she wanted to get away from the cold piercing eyes in front of her. She turned and dived into the river, this time with her injured hand also. And it stung before the little blood emerged.

Alexander was on his way back to the blanket where he sat before, when suddenly everything became brighter and he could hear from a mile away again.

It was happening again? It happened yesterday when he raced to the castle with Jamie. Why was it happening again?!

It was happening again. Alexander controlled his breathing as he emerged with his wolf. He could feel everything as Max and viewed what happened yesterday as Max. He was human and he was wolf. He thought part of him would be conflicted on how he handled Jamie but he wasn't. Guess Max was with him this time around.

He looked around the river. Even though he had seen that place a dozen times, it was new, beautiful and shiny. He looked up and the sunlight blinded him for a minute and he stumbled and lost his balance momentarily.

He sat still for while. Note to self; don't look at the sun directly when everything was heightened.

"Alexander? Are you alright?" Jamie asked from the river she was in.

"I am.... alright" Alexander replied but he didn't move from the spot he fell. Everything was becoming dazed and too bright, it was almost blinding.

Jamie swam closer to the shore. What was wrong with her monster husband? She was momentarily tempted to let him die but it occurred to her that if something should happen to him while they were alone and Rosemund becomes queen, she won't let it go. She would ask for Jamie's head.

Since unlike Jamie, she was overprotective of her brother.

"Alexander?" She asked a question by just calling his name. Was he sick?

She was so close to him now. She touched his cheeks before she clasped two of her hands on both cheeks and made him stare at her. His eyes were distinct and clear shades of blue and green.

"Alexander, are you alright?" Jamie asked him. She was more worried now.

"It's too bright... it's too bright, Luna"

Jamie hugged his face and shielded it from direct sunlight. She had never seen him vulnerable before, so open and not guarded. He wrapped his arm around her back.

"Is it better now?" She murmured to his ears like she was soothing a sick child.

"Don't let go, Luna" he snuggled deeper into her body.

Jamie thought she didn't hear him right but it was the second time, he called her Luna. She wondered what that means....was it another endearing name like Monisha?

"I won't, Milord"

Jamie had no idea why she was holding a man that not too long ago had threatened her life and the lives of everyone that mattered to her. He just looked like a little lost puppy that needed her protection. Jamie had never seen him so exposed.... without his armor.

Then she heard footsteps coming close to them. She felt the stiffness of his body like he was asking for her help... like he wanted her to keep him hidden.

"Okay. Okay, I won't let anyone see you like this"

Without giving it a second thought, Jamie lowered the hand of her undergarment, who would dare move closer if the Queen looked indecent.

But Jamie knew deep down, it was going to cause a scandal.
